I really doubt that. Fallout 1 and 2 were huge games in and of themselves. Transplanting that gameworld into full 3D and making a total conversion is way beyond even the most ambitious mod teams. You're talking about re-creating games about the size of Fallout 3 (if not larger) into the game here. I wouldn't even wager on an official expansion pack being that kind of size and complexity.

Don't think so. The two games, especially Fallout 1, weren't so big as you'd imagine. A few cities with a few screens, some dungeons... It's just the quest completing, walking, and driving that took time.

At any rate, it's much easier copying than creating new things. Here all you'd have to do is transcript everything and basically play some delicious copypasta. Things are much easier once you know everything. It's the building trial and error and "new stuff" that takes time figuring out, failing, going back to the design board.

Oblivion was an unfinished advancement on Morrowind, imo. If you played it without a slew of fan mods (again imo) to re-balance and polish the world, it was soso. With the mods and such, I liked it.

That's why I'm 99% sure going to get FO3 for PC over PS3 - if Bethesda drops the ball the Fallout & Oblivion fan communities will address the issues.

biggest reason I want a PC version of fallout is because I want to play the game 10 years from now the same way I can still come back to fallout 1 and 2. assuming fallout 3 won't suck ass.

That Morroblivion mod is amazing for what is, really shows you how dull and lifeless Oblivion is when you get to explore Morrowind on the updated engine.

Unfortunately, nothing works except for the zones.

So I decided to try Fallout 2...

How the hell do you play this game? I have got to the den and I have absolutely no idea how to win a fight. I get destroyed almost every single fight, I have tried grinding out a few levels but I lose so many fights and have to reload so many times that I have gained about half a level in 4 hours of playing. I know I am not very far but this is really pissing me off. I will target the enemy in the eyes with my spear, which usually works but there are so many enemies that they all just demolish me before I can do anything.

Also how do I heal? My first aid is 40% and my doctor is about 10 but they almsot never work so I just travel around the desert for a couple minutes to heal. Only problem is right now I have a broken leg, arm, radiated, poisoned and a damaged eye.

Well, the easiest way to play fallout 2 is to tag small guns, sneak and steal. Take skilled and gifted for the major stat boosts etc. Have high perception, good agility, average strength, endurance and decent luck (do NOT put luck below 5 or so unless you are suicidal) and maybe high intelligence for dialogue (or whatever). The first thing to do is go through that stupid fucking temple, God I hate that thing, then convince the idiot at the end to let you through (So good Charisma may be an idea). Once out of there, do the random stuff around town and then head out.

At the town where you are supposed to find Vic, go to the bar and steal one of the trappers 10mm pistols. This may take a few attempts, but is MUCH better than a pipe rifle and will make your life much easier. You will no longer feel half as suicidal. Once you have the gun, focus on getting some armour and killing stuff. The rest of the game should fall into place from there.

Unlike the first game, FO2 is a lot more unforgiving in the beginning.

Don't use Jinxed if you're doing that. Don't fight the bugs in the temple, talk your way out of it if you can, buy Sultik if you can, he's in Klamoth in the house that Torr lives in.

Good idea, sell him into Slavery for the 500 monies later as well.

Edit: Oh and steal absolutely everything. When you get to the Den, find the trader called bob or whatever his name is and first thing waste him. Take all of his stuff and you'll be set for the early game.

Oh and yes, this is one of the default "evil" type pathways where you're a massive dick to everyone.

Also, put valuable stuff somewhere safe and then have some armed dynamite and plant it on one of the kids. That'll show em.

    Bob = Tubby.

Also, knock off Flick because he's a dickhead and deserves it.

Yep. You've got two critical injuries that are hard to get rid of and you're irradiated. The poison isn't so bad, but being irradiated is basically death at the early part of the game as there is just hardly any way of getting rid of it. I imagine you were playing in a highly irradiated cave filled with geckos you naughty man you. In future playthroughs, before doing things like that you should make sure that you've got radx (which protects you from radiation but has to be taken before exposure) and radaway (which cures current radiation damage).

You can get addicted to both btw.

Being a dick to everyone is what I do in these games. Why would I do in game what I have to do in real life? Being a dick to everyone is half the fun of the old style RPGs.

I would go for Fallout before Fallout 2: it's a better game but it's pretty much the same interface and stuff so it's not Stone Age compared to the sequel. You'll get more of the references when you play FO2 and you'll also get to play the best game in the series.

I don't know where you are in the game, but there are a few "hot spots" end game for selling stuff:

the casino in Redding. has 10000-15000 coins.

the weaponsmith and utility item seller in san fran, both have 15000-20000 coins.

after purchasing 6 alien blasters, the tradesman will have quite a bit of cash ;)

all of the other "bigger" mid game towns such as NCR and VC will tend to have around 5k on each merchant.
