Also, I hate, hate, hate the way vampires are portrayed in Buffy
why? I mean, I don't necessarily believe they're perfect, but still, not half bad
It's been a while since I've seen any episodes of the show but, if my memory serves it was a combination of things. I didn't like the way they looked visually, at all. They were far too weak in my mind to be vampires. Getting stabbed with a stake turns them into dust? What? That's not even supposed to kill vampires permanently. Ignoring other vampire conventions.
I don't know, they always just rubbed me the wrong way.

It's basically something he put together with his buddies while the writers strike was on, so it probably is pretty low budget, he might have even financed it himself.
I found the official site, and there are only 3 episodes which will go up on the 15th, 17th and 19th of July.
And it sounds like it's a full on musical, which will be cool, because the Buffy musical episode was excellent and by all accounts Joss is a great song writer.
all of this is true and great.
i cannot wait for this.
Joss + Neil Patrick Harris + Nathon Fillion = can only be awesome.

Sounds like you take your vampire lore far too seriously, there's nothing wrong with a new show having a slightly different take on an old idea. The vampires in Buffy were mostly cannon fodder and comic relief while the demons and gods were the real threats.

No. There's nothing wrong with new takes on old ideas at all. I just didn't like their take, is all. Vampires as cannon fodder obviously just doesn't do it for me. I don't take vampire lore all that seriously, hell, I don't even like vampires all that much. It takes vampires being especially well done to even interest me, and buffy just didn't do them well in my book.
My main beefs with the show would be bad acting, story and fight choreography. The vampire thing was really just the icing on the cake.
That picture is cronyx, right? I remember that dude.

The acting in Buffy seemed pretty good. Well, by WB's standards anyway.
Especially compared to the movie.

Nobody compares the series to the movie.
Totally different direction and Joss himself said the movie turned out terribly.
Anyway, I always thought the cast did a pretty good job. They never seemed to overact, or go below the standard that was set early on. It's a huge mix of themes, and a pretty weird program, so I understand if a lot of fans of vampires or the monster genre in general weren't all that entertained.
I really liked how the characters were always grounded in reality, despite being surrounded by unrealstic stuff. That show really turned me on to the concept of realistic characters in unrealistic situations.

See I'll agree with you about those things. The vampires shouldn't have done that dumb brow thing, because come on that looks so dumb just have it be a normal dude with super speed/strength/canine teeth. And the stake thing I understand why they did but still dumb, agreed.
I don't really think they were too weak though, and it definitely did not turn me off the show at all really. They got a lot of the other vampire things in there fairly well if I remember correctly. Hell, I think they even had compulsive counting at least once.

Also guys stop praising the acting in Buffy it is pretty terrible, especially early seasons. Amusingly terrible perhaps, but still pretty bad.

Compared to all of your stage accomplishments...

I ain't saying anything about my acting abilities here, I am just saying that holy jesus overacting
I've been making shows of trading blows
Just hoping no-one knows
That I've been going through the motions
Walking through the part
Nothing seems to penetrate my heart

She does very well with things from Hell
But lately we can tell
That she's just going through the motions
She's making it somehow *stabbed by Buffy, mid-sentence* She's not even half the girl she.... owwwww! *thud*
Also, Straightzi, I really liked Angel from the beginning, but the show got so bizarre in it's later seasons. I think I missed a few episodes after season 4 or so, and came back to find Cordelia was screwing Connor and some other crazy shit.
I love a plot that doesn't move too slowly but I missed a handful of episodes and came back completely fucking lost.
