and Ultimate Bulls is named Benjamin Poindexter while Ultimate Hawkeye is Clint Barton and is a confirmed Olympic Medalist Archer.

There's pretty much no way they could be the same dude.

Yeah, but this is the Ultimate-verse we're talking about. Where SHIELD and Nick Fury's actions tend to take on a darker tone. Wouldn't put it past either him or the orginization to either create a criminal identity for Clint (since we DO see him as a Black-Ops agent in his first appearance) or give Ben a clean slate and new name for doing missions for them that are on the down-low.

There's a pretty big difference between Black Ops Agent and Assassin for Hire that works for the Kingpin.

and while Fury is powerful I doubt he would create an identity that would be so conspicous and easy to check out as an Olympic Archer.

On the contrary I think it looks fuckawesome. Joe Madureia is the guy that got me back into comics when he did his run on Uncanny X-Men. I've always been a fan of how lively his art looks and I'm pretty pumped that he's back drawing super heroes and has got out of the video game biz.

I should have been clearer. I meant art as in the piece of artwork itself, and what it's showing (the costumes that I do not like). I've got nothing against Joe's style (although his wolverine is kinda weird).

He's still heavily involved in the gaming biz, he's the creative director of a game called Darksiders about the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

I was kinda meh on it, till I read they replaced Famine and Pestilence with Fury and Strife because they sounded cooler.

Joe Mad's a slow artist in the first place, but with the delays that will come from Darksiders I imagine Ultimates 3 will be delayed more than Ultimates 2.

Fuck that noise. How is strife better than pestilence? It has two less syllables of impending doom.

As for Mad, I enjoy his style, he pulls it off well enough. However for some goddamn reason, possibly the 616in' of Ultimates, the more I look at this the more it reminds me of Heroes Reborn Avengers. And freakin' Wolverine and Spider-Man again? Part of the charm of the last two volumes was how it was using the classic Avengers template and slanting it (in Millarvision) .

Thank the Defenders god, Valkyrie exists in some form though.

My understanding was that he started drawing Ultimates 3 while Ultimates 2 was still going on - i.e. over a year ago. And that they wouldnt start soliciting volume 3 till he was done with the whole thing.

Given the lateness that plagued Ultimates 2 #12 & 13, I think Mad's slow pace will suit Ultimates perfectly.

I know that Marvel was all about the new Ultimates run being different and new, rather than just trying to copy what Millar and Hitch did, but this seems like it's too different. Mad's exaggerated art (complete with boring, 616 clone costumes) and Loeb's fanwanky writing just seems to be a recipe for disaster. Now I'm sure it'll sell like gangbusters so nobody at Marvel will care, but I imagine it's going to be panned by critics.

I would have much rather seen someone like Patrick Zircher, or the dude who's doing the Foolkiller mini handling the art, though I'm not sure who I'd prefer to write something like this. But who knows, maybe it'll be brilliant.

Hmmm. So who is writing this? Because it' looks like the secondary apearance of The Brotherhood is being used with Sabertooth, Jamie Madrox etc. I really really hated everything since the end of that story arc in Ultimate X-men and I hope they just seriously retcon the poop out of it to make kirkman and who ever was before him's run on it null and void. Time Travel for the win.
