Someone, please, just tell me who to kill to get the fucking yellow fruit. He didn't want the Millennium Fruit, the Mushroom, or the Egg. And I can't take anymore of this wandering up and down the whole god damn mountain just for him to tell me that's not what he wanted after fucking eating it anyway.

According to a guide I'm following for the sanctum
You need to give him a sweet banana. Go to the swamp in prehistory and head to the dead end in the north-eastern part of the swamp and fight the purple blob and two frogs. They might drop them.

What the hell? I ordered from you months ahead of time specifically to get this game faster and ensure that I would get the pre-order bonus. You said you shipped it a week ago, but the USPS says otherwise.
In short: [IMG][/img]
My order arrived yesterday. 2 day shipping.
Basically, Amazon is dropping the ball this time of year.
Which is typical, but they should have something figured out by now...

That being, if you only ran into them onc time each. Including the "save point" enemies, of which there are six, in the room under the trap doors.

Man, I feel bad now. I ordered it Super Saver Shipping from Amazon, and it came much quicker than those types of orders usually do. And they took three dollars off the total as part of their price matching guarantee deal. And I got the extra soundtrack and everything. Sorry guys, I guess I absorbed all the good package shipping luck.

When did you get yours? I got mine today finally with Super Saver Shipping and got all that stuff as well. But it got here today.

I believe I got it Saturday, shortly before I had to go to work. I was suprised, I thought that Thanksgiving, combined with the slowness of SSD ordering, would mean that I wouldn't get it 'til Monday. Guess I lucked out.
Finaly got the game yesterday and I'm currently on "A Hero Appears", I'm noticing that a lot of the stuff that happens happens a lot earlyer than preveious experiances (Zombar in particluar).
The gameplay in chrono trigger is still a lot more solid than most rpgs coming out today. How the hell can that be.
It's solid, but not particularly interesting (I like that most modern JRPGs allow for choice in character development outside of equipment (which in CT is almost never anything more than equipping the newest item)
The game's appeal is in the setting, story and music (for me at least)
There's no skill trees or anything, but with tabs or "capsules" as they're now called you do have some customization available.
I'd say the combo system (double techs, triple techs, and special triples unlocked by items) and the positional attacks make up any gap in gameplay you might see without character specific skill options.
It'd certainly be neat if they had skill trees in addition to the other things that make the gameplay great, but I miss the things CT has in other JRPGs as much as I miss things in CT that the others have.
This right here is one of the things I like about Chrono Trigger. I don't want to mess around with "skill trees" or anything more complicated than equipping the newest items. I have no idea what this TP I'm earning after every fight is either, and I don't really care. I'm having fun, and the game seems to be taking care of the tedious bullshit for me.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. You've probably saved me a gigantic headache. Thank you!
Know what I like about this game? First time I played through the game as a child, I remember I basically out-muscled or out-healed bosses. It was either massive DPS, or taking Marle and Frog and winning through attrition. I loved the game.
This time I actually spot all the boss strategies and can beat a boss at much lower levels, and it's fun and awesome again.
Also, that this game encourages using your skills and magic at all opportunities, including random fights. In way too many RPGs I feel like I have to horde my MP for a later and more difficult encounter that never comes. Here I get to use different skills in different fights and it is much more enjoyable than mashing attack, attack, attack, potion or most efficient heal, attack, attack, attack.

I used to horde my MP. Still do, to a small degree (attack damage is still free damage ;-)), but I think that being familiar with the game out of the gate helps minimize that "endless hording" effect, because we largely know what's coming up next, and how much MP we'll need for it.
Here in the Lost Sanctum, the New Area where I never know when the next boss is? Yeah, I'm hording mana like a mofo. Which worked out well, considering how many of these bosses require liberal use of magic. Also, there's way too much MP Drain going on. :P

you guys are lucky because The game still can't be find anywhere in Canada. I've went through all online website and they are either out of stock (they went from pre-order to out of stock which I suspect means they never even got copies) to Not listing the game at all like www.amazon.ca doesn't even have it listed as an item...
There are fewer things more intoxicating than pure nostalgia. I got my copy yesterday, have put about an hour into it and it's like meeting an old lover all over again.

This is your first time playing the game, then? Enjoy it. The simplicity is also one of the reasons why I think the game is a favorite of mine—another of my favorites was FF4, which had very similar lack of customization, and honestly the whole Augment system added to FF4 DS grates on me a little bit. You can peek in the Tech menu and see what skill each character's TP is going to unlock as a preview, though all of the Techs are strictly linear skill trees.

I actually love the augment system, but I wish they would have been more straightforward about how to unlock the additional augments from party members. Just because we have access to GameFAQs doesn't mean games should be designed to require it. <Insert frothing tirade about FFXII, that crappy spear and game guides>

I'm in Canada and I managed to pick up a copy late last week at Wal-Mart. They're out there.

I don't know if anything's changed since the original, but I counted on the SNES back in the day. There's more than 100 (I think I got up to 117 or so).

I got mine from the EB Games in St-Bruno last night. I asked him how many they had and he said "Too many. We got a stack of like, 20."

Not even close. In the SNES version it was closer to 60-70.
Edit: contradiction lol
I might be wrong, but I know there aren't 100, or any obvious combination of avoidables that might add up to 100.
I will never do this again. Never. The worst part? I still have to look for a Wonder Rock to charm a Lumicite off of. :P
Take the 12,000 BC vortex. Look through the icy mountain area. I think there's only one that spawns each time through the entire area. I got mine the first time I faced it- I whooped it, it dropped. The armor's worth it, though. Just remember to open up New Game + so you can keep it through the next game.

Because I've seen some Canadians posting about purchasing this game in the past page or two, I thought I should remind that Canadian Toys R Us's are having a 3 for 2 promotion this Saturday. I know I'm hoping to get Chrono Trigger DS then, though I suspect their selection isn't particularly reliable.
I'll spoiler the directions for people who want to figure it out on thier own.
You remember the vortex you went into, in 12,000 BC? You went through the five areas, then through a mountain area with the BGM "Singing Mountain" and then fought the Alabaster Shade (Evil Marle)? That mountain area is the only place I know of to find Wonder Rocks. I can't really remember if they Omnilock like the ones on the Mountain of Woe, but I got my Lumicite off it by getting it to drop after I killed it. I think they only spawn one for each time through the vortex, though.
If the physics depicted in TV and movies are correct, and we have no reason to doubt that, then messing with the time-space continuum always results in wacky adventures. Join Crono in this updated old-school favorite as he travels through time and space in order to go back to 1982 and throw a football over some mountains to win the state championship.
Whaaaaaaaaaat...?

My brother and a few of my friends from school all played Chrono Trigger a few years back (when I was somehow even less tolerant of RPGs), so while I'm fairly familiar with the characters and the bare bones of the story, actually playing the game is a new experience for me.
It's weird - I get the nostalgia (especially from the music, seeing as I didn't even need to be watching others play to pick up on that) along with the fun of playing the game for the first time!

Guess I should try EB games. My local walmart didn't have it this week. Bestbuy.ca is showing stock right now but as you go through the buying process, the status changes to "out of stock" just as you are about to buy even if it says in stock on the product page.
All sidequests complete as of this morning. It's good to have the Rainbow again.
I've been trying out what was suggested earlier and gave Chrono the 80% Counter Acc. It's pretty good, but still not the damage output of Luminaire yet. Chrono's only doing around 1400 on a crit to an enemy with normal defense levels. Good, but when Luminaire is doing 2000-ish to everything on screen at the moment...
He's also wearing Nova Armor (for the status immunity) and the Haste Helm.
Being in the UK ( and having no idea to import it when it was first released ) I have never played this. Really looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about

Now, if there was a CT anime by Akira Toriyama, I'd be all over it and pay any price for the DVDs, no matter how bad it'd be.
