Anyone else catch this movie this week or last week? Possibly the best movie to come out all summer (at least for me anyway or until batman comes out!) C'mon, Morgan Freeman dropping the F-bomb just made my night. Not only that, it's a pretty awesome movie story and effects wise. I loved it. Did you?
best movie to come out all Summer? Really? I mean, I liked it, it was a good action flick and had Angelia Jolie's entire backside... but really?

Agreed. It was entertaining, but I'd rate both Iron Man and WALL-E head and shoulders above it in terms of both entertainment and cinematic quality. Wanted is a fun action flick, but it's not really Grade-A material (nor is it trying to be, of course).
That said, I think I'm the only person on the forums that actually liked the Wanted comic.

You got me there, I should probably reformat my wording in the first post. And yeah I have seen a lot of dislike for the actual comic on not only PA but other forums as well. Wierd.
Haha, my friend and my girlfriend were surprised to hear that this movie was much cleaner than the comic.
Really, it was decently fun. It's just that Millar is convinced he has philosophy to hand out and he simply does not. I loved the little bit where Jolie's character explains that they have to kill people who they're told to because once a person who was supposed to be assassinated killed her dad so probably every time they kill a dude they save people! Then they go after Cross and kill like 1,000 people on a train to get to him.
This movie is very odd. I've heard nothing but good things about it, and my friend who is a huge movie buff says I should see it over Hancock, but it's making me not want to see it all the more.
I think it's because of Jolie; i've seen her in enough movies to last a lifetime. That and she's starting to get old.

Yea I was also kinda wierded out by the method of choosing their "targets".......woven thread? Really? Might as well be looking into a crystal ball if you want to go that far.

I'm a fan of Will Smith but Hancock seriously dissapointed me. Yea it was funny at a few points but the storyline lost my interest around the middle of the movie. I'd definately go see Wanted with or without the good things you"ve heard about it.
the point is... this movie was good for what it was. But in terms of "good" movies, I'd rate Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk above it.
I'd actually tie it with Hancock. I enjoyed both of them, but I didn't think about them much once I left the theater, if at all.
And Angelina still looks freaking amazing... best ass ever.

I dunno man, a hobo superhero is enough to warrant buying a ticket.
Maybe if I was with my buddy at A&M, where he only pays 4 bucks for a ticket, AND it's a five minute walk there, but the theaters are kinda far from my house, so this might be something i'll have to catch on DVD eventually.
I quite enjoyed the movie. I love over-the-top action scenes. Also, "Magic loom says die!" is now in my vocabulary for taunts in first person shooters.

That ass and the scene was severely overrated. Look up Melissa Ford and get back to me.

In that case I'd have to say wait for both to come out on dvd. Why bother when you have stuff like Netflix right?
Maybe it's just me... probably it is... but to me the movie seemed like the scene in Office Space where they beat the shit out of the copy/fax machine stretched over 2 hours.

I was thinking of seeing Hancock today, but seeing as how I literally got two hours of sleep before getting up to make an hour trip to get to a summer school drawing session, only to be told that it doesn't start until tomorrow because the dumb bitch of a receptionist from last week can't do her job right, and then drive an hour back only to have to mow my yard in hot-ass-sticky weather, i'm a little exhausted.
Jolie is every girl's lesbian crush from what I can tell. Just like Brock Sampson is every man's.
Also, I got that same vibe, Sentry. It was less "hey work sucks do something interesting with your life instead you tool" and more "hey work sucks you should KILL THEM ALL AND SHOW THEM YOU SHOULD BE IN CHARGE".
The only good thing about this movie was watching my girlfriend drool over Angelina Jolie.
Seriously, why are people have such a hard on for her and other mainstream celebs? I'll admit I did ogle for her in Hackers, but that was the past. Shit, Pam Grier kicks all their asses, even now.
As a comics fan, though not really a Wanted fan, I'm boycotting this because of what they did to the story. Basically they bought the rights to the names of the comic and a couple of the main characters and rewrote everything else into an entirely different genre, if what I hear is half true. About as similar as the Starship Troopers 2 movie to the original book.
One day they might try doing this to a comic I actually like and I can't endorse it
I'm glad I'm at that point in my life where I have seen enough porn that I'm not tempted to spend $12 to see a flash of flesh in the theatre... while having to wear pants because of decency laws.
I saw Hancock already, and had no idea what to expect going in, and was thoroughly enjoying it until they
twisted in the forbidden lovers subplot
. I have a feeling that Wanted will be the same way.
I might consider renting them, but I would be just as willing to wait for them to come out on network TV. They are the type of mediocre films that Hollywood was putting out years ago when they were lamenting about how the internet was destroying the film industry profits. It wasnt the internet, it was the lack of quality films. Which was proven when mega-blockbusters came out in the forms of 300, Sin City, PotC, Kill Bill, etc.
I'm surprised so many of you folks liked the movie. I saw it with my wife a week ago and neither one of us liked it. It was the worst Fight Club wannabe that I have ever seen. I mean, really, when the last line of the movie is, "What the fuck have you done lately?" when he's referring to the fact that he's a badass assassin now and the audience isn't... give me a break. The gun fights were cool but the whole concept of the movie was stupid.
I read a review of the movie the other day that I thought described it perfectly:
Ultimately this is a film not designed to stand up to critical analysis (or repeat viewings) as its a textbook example of 'munitions porn'. Whereas 'torture porn' corrupted the horror genre into believing suffering and gore is more important than scares or atmosphere, so too 'munitions porn' corrupts action junkies into believing a lot of gunplay and flashy CG tricks are more important than real stuntwork and a genuine sense of peril. It's smarter than the average actioneer of late though, and certainly shows that Bekmambetov has a bright future in Hollywood. For its specific demographic "Wanted" is a lot of fun, yet having Jolie fellate a gun barrel for two hours would've been cheaper and probably just as effective for a good portion of that audience.
the bullet time tool in movies was cool at first and stuff but man, thats pretty much all this movie was, and god i hope this 'curving the bullet' crap doesnt catch on, i don't need my movie bullets to be fucking boomerangs

I got the same impression, that the film desperately wanted to be Fight Club but sailed so far past the point that I was wondering whether or not it was going to do something interesting after it looked like he was going to be a washed up nobody but then it veered far away from that and just ended up coming off like some juvenile fantasy. The guy was a prick before, whilst and after being an assasin who seemed completely oblivious to everything going on around him.
Plus there was a fair few plot holes that I thought were going to actually be part of the plot...but then weren't.
The loom of fate gives them names, and then they assasinate them without question - but it seems that everyone else must be doing their research on these guys if they know the route someone drives every time or where the best spot to assasinate someone in a meeting is.
After pointing out that Sloane was making false names, why the hell did all the assasins believe him when he comes out with all their own names on bits of cloth! That's the one thing he's been accused of doing!
Also they make a big deal out of not being hired killers, but what exactly did he expect to do after taking out the fraternity and blowing up the loom?

I went into the movie expecting something with a weak plot and a lot of action, the comedy made it better then expected, so I enjoyed it. I didn't expect a movie of the year or anything.

Unless the protagonist rapes some celebrities and murders people at random to get his jollies. That doesn't scream mainstream release to me.
