1. Untouchable Opponent is disallowed. You can get a DV of over 100 at God level, making you utterly impossible to hit. You don't want to face something like that, so you don't get to use it.
2. Relic weapons may not have a Speed of less than 3. The Tick-based combat time system of Scion breaks down if you go beyond that. You may use Boons and Knacks as written, which may reduce speed beyond that, but the base speed can't drop below 3.
3. You may take a Knack to add Epic Perception to Firearms damage, which fixes the problem of Firearms really really sucking at high Hero and up.
Addendum 2
Houserule: Epic Appearance
In the rules as written, Epic Appearance does very, very little. To counteract this, your dots of Epic Appearance subtract directly from the successes of Presence or Manipulation rolls made against you, representing how horrifying/attractive you are and distracting them from their true purpose.
Addendum 3
When making Relic weapons, try to pick the weapon profile closest to what you have envisioned, but don't feel like you have to take a shitty set of stats if you really don't want to. Some weapons are WAY better than others, and this makes a difference. For Relic weapons, just pick a set of stats that your weapon is vaguely similar to. For non-relic weapons, you're sticking to base stats, just as an FYI.
Addendum 4
When trying to perform a Legendary Deed, it has to be legendary. Whatever you're doing has to be something epic. You don't perform legendary deeds to get coffee in the morning. Here's a few guidelines:
1. If I don't think it's worthy of a two-die stunt, I'll probably call off the applicability of Legendaryness.
2. It should reflect one of the following: Your character's Virtues, your character's Nature, your character's Calling, or your Pantheon's particular brand of epicness. Basically it should be an action that is important to the character, and helps build their personal Legend.
3. It should be awesome.
Regarding Virtue Channels, just remember that you have to act in a way that benefits the virtue you're channeling.
Addendum 5
Legend adds to PDV now, making the calculation
[Legend+Weapon Defense Value+Dexterity+Melee]/2, placing it on the same level as DDV. Don't abuse this.
Addendum 6
Holy Rampage halves the SOAK of an inanimate object, since Hardness is a moot value in Scion. Divine Rampage works as said. For that matter, anything that mentions Hardness? Just replace that with Soak. Hardness doesn't make sense in Scion.
Army of One cancels all extant boon/knack related effects that the wielder has activated beforehand. You still get your Epics, and it's still incredibly powerful, but not quite as much as it was. Since I just made an NPC with Army of One, I'd suggest not complaining.
Use the book as written, for the most part. Character backstory doesn't need to be detailed, I hope to do Preludes with everyone to flesh out their characters, so I need a bit of a framework, but you don't need to be specific.
The three rules above are all in effect, of course. Please pay attention to them.
Custom Boons and Knacks are very much allowed, but I'll be the final judge of whether or not they're in keeping with that power level of Boon
IC/OOC chat guidelines:
There will be two separate channels, one for IC and one for OOC. You must post your actions in the IC thread before rolling them, so I can determine appropriate stunt bonuses. Due to the medium, I will assume that you are giving yourself at least a 1-die stunt bonus on all actions.
All rolls will be done in OOC chat, along with any OOC tactical discussion, or general camaraderie.
Please show up on time. We'll probably spend 15-20 minutes bantering before we really get going anyway, so showing up late will just push that back.
Please don't make hugelong actions/emotes/posts. The faster we go, the more fun everyone has.
Respect other players in the OOC thread. If you have a problem with their character's actions, call them on it IC. If you have any serious complaints, direct them to me and I'll forward them on. Let's be civil.
ALSO, for those of you who have the time, write up a one-paragraph summary of your character, and a quote. These will be going in the IC OP. If you can't do it, let me know and I'll do what I can after I've seen your character in action.
I'm in, if I can make whatever timeslot ends up being agreed upon.

I am not really interested in a S:H game (I tried to make several characters and got really frustrated every time + my availability, it doesn't exist) but I am looking forward to see how this works out because I am curious how the game is supposed to look in action (compared to how it looked from the character creation standpoint)

Just out of curiosity, what frustrated you at character creation?

Well the game was billed me to me as a heroic game about godlings
So when the most amazing thing my character could do was mutiply big numbers quickly, I kind of got turned off.
(Also things like my magic powers let me touch someone's belly and find out if they're pregnant)
I'll have a character for you in the next couple of days. I've got several ideas I haven't gotten to use yet, including Walker, that character I didn't get to play from the last Scion game.
I don't know about that. I mean, take Water Breathing, the Water 1 Boon. It lets you breathe underwater for as long as you want, and prevents you from being damaged by freezing or boiling water.
Epic Stamina 1 gives you one extra success on any Stamina roll. Sure, it's more widely applicable, but it's not going to make you live if you get tied to a huge rock and thrown into a river.
Fertility is probably the weakest Purview, since it only lets you deal with plants, but that's sort of a flaw of the Purview and not the Boons.
Health 1 lets you fully assess the medical condition of any living person in your presence, automatically and instantly. If someone has an addiction to cocaine, you know it, and BAM you have something you can use it for.
So sure, Epic Attributes may be more immediately useful(and I'll probably take steps to tone them down at Demigod level) but Boons can simply do things that you can't do with Epic Attributes.
Oh, and High-level Epic Mental Attributes are basically free license to get away with anything. Ultimate Perception can let you see anywhere. Ultimate Wits lets you 'rewind time' because the first time in which you screwed up was just you running through one possible scenario in your head. Ultimate Intelligence lets you come up with a perfect plan to defeat the bad guys.
Sometimes the mechanical applications of the Boons or Knacks or Epic Attributes comes up short, I won't deny that. But the feel of them? It's right. You just have to remember that at Hero levels you're still mostly human. You don't get the craaazy shit yet.
I'd also like to comment that most of the Boons and mental and social abilities are primarily useful for a game that isn't entirely combat-focused.
I mean, really, are Loki's trickery, or Theseus' ability to analyze and use any situation to his advantage, or Daedelus' crafts, any less epic than Hercules killing a nine headed snake?
I'm going to be playing a scion of Zeus. Calling will be a Law Student aspiring for Political Power.
Background-wise, he's the descendant of an New-England political family that was prominent in politics maybe a hundred years ago.
Right now I'm leaning towards spending most my birthright points on a Harpe and tailoring a bit towards melee, just because I want access to Chaos and don't want to go for a custom relic. Chaos 2 so is sweet.

they are less epic when the time comes to kill a nine headed snake that's for sure

And at the same time, the ability to kill a nine headed snake doesn't do you a whole lot of good when you have to solve a situation without violence.
Which, again, boils down to whether a given game sees combat as the "only final solution" to every problem.

A person without demigodly power can still think
But a person without demigodly power cannot throw a truck two miles
I think part of the problem is it's hard to imagine how someone who's incredibly smarter than you would think. As a result, the epic thinking talents tend to turn the character into a living computer, and/or the storyteller just tells you what to do.
But a person without demigodly power cannot throw a truck two miles
You know what I am sayin'
But a person without demigodly power can't use a computer just by looking at it, they can't see radio waves, they can't think faster than a supercomputer, and they certainly can't beat Gary Kasparov at chess while doing all of those things.
A person without demigodly power certainly can't get out of jail for killing five thousand innocent people just by smiling and shrugging their shoulders. They can't be beautiful enough to literally blind people, they can't force people to follow their commands just by speaking a single word.
It's all about perspective.

None of these things sound like things a Scion: Hero character could do, either.
Of course my perception is colored by hate and I'm not really trying to muck up your thread

Actually, since you can use the Knacks from Demigod and God for starting characters, Heroes can do most of that stuff. On the other hand, I don't think a Hero character can throw a truck two miles. A God can throw one into low orbit, I believe.
EDIT:
But yeah, stop mucking up my thread. By my count I have four people working on sheets/interested, and one person with a finished sheet. Anyone else? I've got more room! Any questions? Ask me!
I have two possible characters so far, and am working on more.
First, we have Damon Walker, Scion of Hermes, wandering soul and freelance gambler/trickster. He does indeed take after Daddy, and on at least one occasion has been asked to help another Dodekatheon Scion through their Visitation. He never goes by Damon, only by Walker, and always seems to have an easy grin on his face. He's never been one for standing and waiting around, but that's not because he's eager to rush into trouble (though he's never once been known to hesitate when he felt it important), it's because he's just restless and always working through the problems at hand... sometimes in his head, sometimes out loud... and always feels this insatiable need to do something.
Walker's never stayed in one place for too long... although he does have a "home". He just never sees it, and that's frankly pretty much how he wants it. He's always got money, though he never really says how he gets it (probably for the best, since his sources tend not to be entirely legal...), and even before his Visitation Walker spent his life traveling as a shiftless wanderer and troubleshooter-errant of sorts. He's always seen himself as a problem-solver-for-hire, and nothing about his Visitation changed that at all.
Walker's Visitation was... interesting. Hermes had come to the World on another errand, and quite by "accident" ran into Walker on one of the not-yet-empowered Scion's travels. He spent the next three months wandering with the old man, who somehow always managed to avoid ever giving Walker his name or any other information about himself, while remaining likeable enough and helpful enough that Walker never once considered leaving him by the side of the road and heading the other way. During this period, Walker found himself learning more than he thought possible... and by the end of this bizarre sort of "apprenticeship" (a period that Walker still calls "my father's mid-eternity crisis male-bonding episode"), Walker knew what he was and finally found the one thing his life had always been lacking... Purpose.
I typically use Word for my sheeting, so I'm afraid it's all screwy when I copy/paste, but I'll send you a copy via AIm next time I'm on, Rainfall.

Godsknife 2 - +1 Defense, -1 Speed. Was forged in Hephaestus’ forges for a former Scion of Hermes, and passed to Damon.
Relics
The Traveler's Compass was a direct gift from Hermes that has been as much a curse for Walker as a blessing. It always leads him where he's supposed to be... but that typically means getting him into all sorts of trouble.
The Godsknife was the personal relic of a previous Scion of Hermes, and when that Scion died, it had been lost. One of Walker's first duties was to sneak into the lair of a pair of medusae and steal it back. The Godsknife was forged by Hephaestus for Ares, but Hermes stole it many years ago for the aforementioned previous Scion. To mollify Hephaestus, Hermes promised the smith-god one favor from each wielder of the blade which cannot be refused so long as it is not directly suicidal or a direct attack on Hermes himself. Hephaestus has not collected yet... but Walker is pretty sure when he does, he's not gonna like it. Ares, naturally, would likely not be well-disposed towards anyone carrying or using "his knife".
The second possible character is Steven Mickey (please don't kill me), a Scion of Sobek. Steven isn't the smartest Scion ever, but he doesn't miss much. I do not yet have a history for him, but I've got his sheet and his Birthrights, and am working on more. I know he's got a very solid, guardianship sort of personality... the kind of guy who wants to keep people out of harms way whenever possible... and typically ends up stepping directly into the path of the oncoming danger to protect them.

Birthrights
Ankh of Sobek 2 – The Ankh allows access to Animal, Fertility, and Water purviews, and is worn around Steven’s neck.
Teeth of Kom Ombo 3 x2 – A paired set of sickles, statted as Kama, +2 damage, 1-dot special power (can be made to vanish).
Relics
The Ankh of Sobek was given to him during his Visitation, a gift from the crocadile who was a messenger for his father. It is typically worn on a long chain around his neck, and prayed to or focused on to access the Purviews it allows.
The Teeth of Kom Ombo are a pair of sickles that were saved at the ruined temple to Sobek in Ombos and given to Steven after he made a pilgramage to Egypt to learn more about his father and try to understand what it was he was supposed to do.
Personally I love Walker, and if I can swing him, I'd like to play him. If he, for any reason, won't work, then I'll either go with Steven, or with the third or fourth ideas percolating in my brain. But Walker's my first love right now. *L*
I've finished up my sheet, though I'll hold off on posting it for now
I did come up with a badass 2-dot relic that Rainfall signed off on though.
Relic - Ray-Bans of Delphi - 2 Dots
During a hasty visitation, after a quick "Sorry I have to run so soon kid.... uh... here's some cool shit I found on dude I smited the other day," Zeus pulled out the pieces of what used to be a functional crystal ball and tossed them down from the heavens.
Although the crystal ball crafted from obsidian mined at Delphi was no longer in one piece, the two largest pieces of the dark, smoky glass were soon ground into lenses and repurposed into a pair of bitchin' aviator sunglasses.
Though nearly all of the predictive power of the shards has vanished, when gazed through, the lenses allow for a very slight view into the future, on the order of a few milliseconds. Though useless for actual divination, they can prove crucial in a combat situation, enhancing the wearer's reflexes when under attack.
I'm going to be around for at least a large portion of tomorrow(although I may go see Hellboy 2) so if anyone has any questions related to character creation, or the game, or how they should do things propah, just ask me!
Alright, so far I have sheets from Krata and Plutonium, and Infidel is working on his sheet. What times/days are you guys good for? I'm thinking we should start in the first week of August, if possible.
Ujio was born a son of Japanese immigrants in Los Angeles, California. He has always felt compelled to pursue the culture of Japan, and is a reknowned expert in several martial arts as well as being quite versed in the history and traditional culture of his parents' homeland. He was among the most highly-regarded practitioners and teachers of Koryu Bujutsu in the United States, but has not been seen in the public eye after taking a spiritual retreat several months ago.
It was during this pilgrimage to Mount Ontake that Ujio learned of his true origins by trials and visions set upon him by the Shinto Deity, Hachiman. Fully embracing his destiny through filial piety to his father, Ujio has renounced the world and adheres to the "old ways". He uses no weapons save for the sword he was given by Hachiman, the legendary Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi ("Grass Cutter").
Ujio is portrayed by the Japanese character actor Shun Sugata.
If Goose's game starts back up on Tuesdays, then I'd have to double on you, but Goose is hemmoraging players, so not sure if it will. IE, yes, I can make bothy days work, though Tuesdays I might be a tad slow on occasion.
Alright, so our options now are: Tuesday, I can get this set as one of my days off(hopefully) and we can go any time everyone is comfortable, or Thursday, where we have to start after 8 PM PST/11 PM EST. Either one works absolutely fine for me!
Also, Shoe, availability? Does this work/not work for you?

I agree 100%. Having Mega-Attributes (to pilfer the Aberrant term) be more awesome than your God PowersTM seems really dumb.
I mean, the mental ones are like "You learn languages fast" or "You can do calculus in your head."
It still seems like a pretty awesome idea for a game, though.
Both of those are better than badgering pregnant ladies. :P

Ask me!
Sheet
Relics

Relics
The Teeth of Kom Ombo are a pair of sickles that were saved at the ruined temple to Sobek in Ombos and given to Steven after he made a pilgramage to Egypt to learn more about his father and try to understand what it was he was supposed to do.
Personally I love Walker, and if I can swing him, I'd like to play him. If he, for any reason, won't work, then I'll either go with Steven, or with the third or fourth ideas percolating in my brain. But Walker's my first love right now. *L*
I did come up with a badass 2-dot relic that Rainfall signed off on though.
Armor - 3B/2L
COunt the grains of sand on the Moon.
Epic Intelligence and Perfect Memory might be required to make an accurate count though.
I'm going to be around for at least a large portion of tomorrow(although I may go see Hellboy 2) so if anyone has any questions related to character creation, or the game, or how they should do things propah, just ask me!
And don't be shy if you're just curious!
AIM is, as always, Raing3l
I have a couple ideas for myself, have to finish going through the book first though.
And if you want to go Dodekatheon, don't worry about stacking pantheons. I'm cool with having lots of people from the same family.
It's not mythic unless there's godly incest and "I'll turn you into a cow so my wife doesn't find you!"
Okay, so maybe creating the world through masturbation is somewhat epic, if a tad bit disturbing to think about.
Minamoto Ujio
Patron: Hachiman
Calling: O-Sensei ("Great Teacher")
Nature: Traditionalist
Not that I'd expect you to pick anything else, Shoe. Pass me the character sheet, and state your availability!
Tuesday/Thursday evenings can work for me. Can they work for Shoe and Krata?
Also, Shoe, availability? Does this work/not work for you?
