Hey, you can't post here. Anytime I look at the thread and see the last post was made by 'zeppelin' I get brief jolt of heart racing before I realize it has nothing to do w/ Zep being in Rock Band.

Oh, and the My Generation is edited apparently, so likely not fifteen minutes long.

So I'm at a bit of an impasse; I still need to do some more research to see if I can replicate the problem but I suspect my drum set (I don't know what model or whatever, never bothered to look it up) is getting double-hits on the yellow pad. I taped down my red pad to pass RTTH, but if two pads are acting up I should just RMA.

In either case, when I get it back I was considering buying both a pedal reinforcer and a nicer set of pad mufflers, but with the money both together would cost (at least $40) I think I'm probably better off waiting for the RB2 drums and buying a new set, plus maybe selling off/trading my old ones (or keeping them in the house for EPIC DRUM BATTLE). Anyone think there'll be a market for the RB1 drums once RB2 hits shelves?

If anyone hasn't seen it yet, Amazon is taking preorders for Rock Band 2.

Right now it's at $199.99 and going to be released 9/14.

If the RB1 drums are cheaper than the RB2 drums then yes I would say there would be a considerably large market.

Why don't you just RMA the drums for free and then buy the pedal/pads?

Also, if you have a video camera it's easy to look for double-hits. Just record yourself playing, and when you miss but you think you hit it, look at the video frame by frame. If you hit the note (score goes up) AND break combo at the same time, that's a double-hit. You'll also be able to tell if it was a pad miss.

If you have to tape down your red pad to do RttH you should RMA regardless of your yellow pad, IMO.

In-game music store doesn't work for me regardless. It'll tell me I downloaded something, but it's a total lie. I have to actually DL it from the PS Store.

That's because that store was made for the 360. It's 100% useless on the PS3 since you need to quit the game to install the DLC anyway. That patch did give the PS3 some wonderful new features though, like new loading dialogs on startup, longer startup load time, and a bug that makes scrolling through your setlist take absolutely forever. If I want to play Zero in my solo career I think it currently takes me almost a full minute to get there :-(
Dammit, support still hasn't cleared my last pedal RMA from their system, I guess I need to make another account.

I had 3 RMAs open at once before for pedals... no need to create a new account, just start a new one.

What? I didn't notice this. I use the Music Store just fine, let the thing download the songs and it installs them.

It has some weird problems, like, I can purchase the new songs earlier than the PSN update from there, but I have to go into the regular PSN store to download them because they can be bought, but not downloaded via the in-game store.

Also, when I tried to do that last week, it showed the new releases but said I'd already purchased them.

It's not the stablest of features on the PS3.

Remember that RB2 is supposed to be exclusive on the 360 for X amount of time, so perhaps Harmonix would get the game out before the instruments are ready to satisfy that stipulation of their contract with MS. I sure hope not, though, because I don't want to choose between waiting and paying more for new hardware.

I'll probably RMA anyway, but I'm thinking if I'm going to spend the $40+ on pedal and pads, I might as well put that money toward the $70 on the newer drum set and get something all-around sturdier plus with velocity sensitivity and any other goodies. I'll wait until it gets closer to release to make a decision, though.

There was a point last week where I was seriously considering dropping the cash on an Omega Pedal, but my wife would kill me.

And Spoonman hasn't been officially confirmed for RB2 yet, has it? I'm listening to Superunknown at work now and I'd squeal if it were ever a downloadable album.

Well that's certainly interesting and lends more credibility to the Gamestop thing just being a placeholder. I'll need to remind my self to switch my pre-order to the full bundle when the update 'em though.

Completely unknown, but the forecast doesn't look too great. I'm guessing we'll find out more next week with the big E3 reveal.

I think the Wii Hard Drive has to be announced first.

Although I think I remember hearing about streaming stuff like for Guitar Hero:WT or w/e where the songs didn't permanently download.

Did anyone read 1up preview of RB2? I'm at work right now, otherwise I would quote it, but the preview ended in a somewhat slightly negative note. I'm paraphrasing here, but basically they said that all the things they been shown so far( which every other website has mentioned as well) feel more like things that could have been done through updates to the original game. They're still waiting on something that gives weight to the 2 next to the name.

I think it's interesting, because if you look at Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 and 3, there really weren't that many changes either, sure new venues and songs, but nothing that you would call a true leap forward, more like a skip. But should we be more critical towards Rock Band, since they repeatedly said the game was the platform, and they now have a very workable delivery system towards new music?

If the game at the end amounts to a world tour online, and new music, is anyone going to feel sligthly ripped off?

No. 80 songs @ $2 each = $160. So, game only, I'm getting more songs free than I'm actually buying. Also, there are plenty of features/additions other than online band world tour, and if I recall the 360 has a size limit on patches. An improved single-player game is big for me.

Now, I'm really not trying to troll, more just curious how others feel, but that would be my main issue. I mainly enjoy playing the guitar, and as it is, there's not a lot of songs in Rock Band(not counting the DLC obviously) that I really enjoy playing.

The end cannot amount just BWT online and just new music. There have been far too many hints from HMX regarding other features. Even if it just amounts to that, it'll be presented in a better manner and it'll hit everything people complain about.

I don't believe everything could have been patched. It's like building a casino or a stadium. It probably mounts up to being cheaper and more effective to start from scratch compared to just rennovating/patching stuff.

So I just got a bass pedal from a Standard RMA instead of an empty box like I expected. However, they included a shipping label like they want the old one back.

Are they getting the old one back or am I safe to use its guts to mod my actual bass pedal?

I don't feel ripped off at all. From what I've read so far, RB2 is giving a lot more in content/features than what was in RB1. If RB2 was nothing but new songs with idential content/features than I would say RB2 would be a rip off.

And like you said, there wasn't much of a jump between each main Guitar Hero game, but you don't really see anybody complaining about it.

    Agreed.

Hell, Online and Solo Would Tours, the re-done single player careers, and the random song adjustment would be enough for me.

Konami Sues Viacom Over `Rock Band' Music Video Game

July 10 (Bloomberg) -- Konami Corp., the Japanese creator of the ``Dance Dance Revolution'' music video game, sued Viacom Inc.'s Harmonix studio, claiming its ``Rock Band'' game violates patents.

The Konami patents, issued in 2002 and 2003, relate to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system and a ``musical-rhythm matching game.'' Konami also makes the ``Karaoke Revolution'' music game with microphones, as well as the ``Metal Gear Solid'' espionage game.

``Rock Band,'' the game in which players emulate rock and rollers with toy instruments, drove a 16 percent increase in first-quarter revenue at New York-based Viacom's media networks business. Konami's Digital Entertainment unit said in May it plans to begin selling its own rock band game, called ``Rock Revolution,'' later this year.

Konami is demanding cash compensation, plus an order that would block Viacom and Harmonix from using the inventions, according to the complaint, filed yesterday in federal court in Marshall, Texas. The suit names Harmonix Music Systems, Viacom, and Viacom's MTV Networks Co., which owns Harmonix.

Viacom spokeswoman Kelly McAndrew said the company hasn't received the complaint, so had no immediate comment.

Konami American depositary receipts, each representing one ordinary share, fell $1.67, or 5.2 percent, to $30.15 at 4:02 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. They have risen 26 percent in the past year. Viacom's Class B shares rose 22 cents to $28.12 and have dropped 32 percent in the past year.

The case is Konami Digital Entertainment Co. v. Harmonix Music Systems Inc., 08cv286, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (Marshall).

    Shit's getting serious.
