Tonight is the season 2 premier of the awesome show Burn Notice on USA.
REMOVED
This show is about a spy who was in the middle of a tricky deal in Nigeria who suddenly finds that someone put a "burn notice" out on him, meaning he's blacklisted by anyone and everyone in the espionage biz. He ends up in his home town of Miami and has to try to put the pieces together on who burned him, and why. In the mean time, he kinda ends up working as a private investigator for locals in trouble. With all his black ops and spy training, he's very, very good at it.
Michael Westen is the burned spy, played by Jeffery Donovan. The actor really didn't do anything significant before this, so you probably won't recognize him from anywhere.
Dude is a badass of the highest caliber. Uses all his spy skills to help people threatened by local gangs, locate missing people, etc. He doesn't do it to be nice (though he seems to be a pretty good guy in general), but because he's trying to get the money together to get the resources and contacts he needs to find out why the hell he was suddenly blacklisted without any warning at all.
He does a lot of kinda noir-esque voice over during the show, explaining what's going on and his train of thought.
He's got a bit of MacGyver in him, improvising weapons, security measures, and surveillance devices from common house hold items. And he can kick your ass five ways from friday without breaking a sweat.
He also seems to eat a lot of yogurt.
Fiona is his on/off girlfriend. Played by Gabrielle Anwar, who is known for being "that chick Al Pacino blind-danced with in Scent of a Woman" and for being so goddamned skinny you can count each individual vertebrae in her spine.
She's ex-IRA, though she covers up the Irish accent to not stand out in Miami. She basically a looney who loves shooting and killing, but she can come through in a pinch. I think she is quite unattractive.
Bruce Campbell is Sam Axe, an old friend of Michael's. You may have heard of Bruce from a little thing called Evil Dead and being an all around awesome guy.
Sam is an ex-spy, ex-Navy Seal, who is now just kind of a lecherous old coot who mooches off of rich widows and feeds info to the FBI about Michael. But it's generally not much they can go on, because he's a buddy like that.
He's the kinda guy that knows a guy, or knows a guy that knows a guy. Far from the bublling old fool you'd expect, Michael relies on him fairly often for help and intel.
Bruce was the only reason I was initially interested in this show because hey, it's Bruce Campbell. And then it turned out to be a really good show to boot.
Each episode of the show has its own stand-alone story, but they all have bits and pieces that build up on the big arc of finding out who burned Michael. At the end of Season 1, he got closer, but since they found out that they were renewed for a second season, they didn't quite reveal it all.
If you're not watching this show, you should be. I think they're doing a marathon of the first season on USA today, or you can rent the DVDs.

i am waiting for it to come out on dvd
It has been for about a month.
i have have HAVE to remember to dvr this tonight. favorite show of last year, along with pushing daisies.
edit: wait, no, 2-pack was psych. regardless, still on dvd.
IMDb says no.
but yeah, about burn notice, sometimes the voice overs can be cheesy especially when explaining simple stuff, and man, if he was a badass agent, he'd be doing a lot more killing, one would think. still doesn't detract from how badass he is and how awesome the show is.
This is the first time in awhile where none of the new shows I liked got cancelled.
Chuck and Pushing Dasies both got renewed.
even Reaper is coming back as a mid season replacement
ehh, i lost interest in reaper midway through the season. just felt blah. you should check out middleman on abc family. it has been pretty good so far, in a goofy kind of way.
also, butters, its good in a popcorn kinda way. can be cheesy at times, but very much watchable and enjoyable.
reaper picked up again in the last few episodes. They actually had some real arc stuff going instead of just one-off episodes.
but really, Middle Man. Great show:
Good thing I watched them already, then.

this show was awesome
i was just disappointed that the west wing guy in the finale last season didn't get to show more of his chops
because homeboy has some serious chops
wait wait wait
does this mean Psych and Monk are coming back soon too?
Monk has been a little meh recently, but the last couple of episodes of last season were good and Psych is always gold

They've had a pretty good track record lately. Monk is good, though pretty formulaic. Dead Zone was good for the first couple seasons, then I lost track of it. I've heard good things about Psych, but haven't gotten around to checking it out.
I was like "ewwwww"

Damn you, Geek.
But 100% More Bruce Campbell
It was never officially canceled, but the only reason they showed the last few episodes was because they didn't have anything else thanks to the Writer's Strike.
So yeah, never gonna get more.
