So I have another question, as sort of a side thing I help out with a small network for my church and one of the guys there just bought a MBP (at my suggestion) however I'm not at all familiar with using OSX in a Windows Domain. How hard is it going to be? Any suggestions on where I should look for info about putting a MBP onto a Windows Domain?

You say domain. Is that in the informal sense of "an area with PCs in it" or in the formal Active Directory Domain sense, with domain controllers and managed print/file servers?
Both will work. For the first, you don't need to do anything. It'll just connect and go. It'll see any available shared resources no problem. For the second, you'll need to open "/Applications/Utilities/Directory Utility" and join the domain just like you would a PC.
Just a quick/possibly stupid question: I just bought a tv show episode off of iTunes and downloaded it to my mac and tried to transfer it to my iPod Touch 2.0. Now the problem is the episode is no where to be found on my iPod including the Videos button on the bottom. Any ideas guys?
When the iPod is plugged into iTunes to go the Television tab and make sure it's set to sync episodes of that show.

So, Apple loosened the NDA on IPhone development - basically, all but unreleased software and functionality can now be discussed openly. Does that mean that I could for example publish a tutorial on how to write your own simple pong game, although I have not released it through the App-Store?

I made sure to do that so it cant be that.
okay, this may be a stupid question, but you did actually sync it right? the iPod touch won't autosync when you plug it in, you have to manually sync it.
Failing that, does the TV show appear in the TV show area in iTunes? Can you play it in iTunes?

I'm pretty sure I did this because I have set my iTunes to Manual syncing. I can play the show through both my TV shows section and Purchased section of iTunes. Just for some reason its not on my iPod anywhere. If it helps any its the first episode of Family Guy season 7.

I think it means that standard NDA rules apply (don’t disclose unreleased Apple functionality) but I dunno. I guess you could try it and take it down if asked?

Oh, if you have iTunes set to manually manage songs/videos, you have to physically drag the file into the iPod. I've never set mine to manually manage, but that's how it's done.
Anyone know if the rumored new Macbooks will have real grpahics chips?
Expect a tablet sometime before then.
Seriously, though, equipping the MBs with something better than funky shared graphics is one of those things that Apple really should do, they have no perceptible reason not to do at that price point, and yet continue not to do, revision after revision.
Maybe they'll do it this time. Or maybe they'll just hope the aluminum throws everyone off.
the integrated graphics and screen size are teh only thing that differentiates teh macbooks from the macbook pros, they won't put integrated graphics in them, especially if they make the macbooks aluminum too.

This will be true until Nehalem finds its way into the public's hands. Intel nehalem is going to be joined by a new graphics chipset that is supposedly multi-core, and freakin' amazing... like, 8800 mobile amazing...

Even the lowest end 8400 for example would blow the intel crap out of the water but the MBP would still have a better gpu. Its what dell for example puts in their 13 inchers.
Anyone know if there are any spam killer plugins for Adium? Specifically, I get tons of spam in the form of ICQ requests with the spam URL in the request.

I stopped using ICQ 5 years ago because of that =/
The best thing I can think of is maybe just disable allowing people to IM you on ICQ if they aren't on your contact list.

Wouldn't this kill battery life which is already barely average on the Macbook?
there are rumors of an nVidia integrated chipset that would perform much better than the intel
and uh
the macbook battery life isn't "barely average". How is over four hours with wifi on and screen at 3/4th brightness barely average?
I was just about to say this. My girlfriend was over last night and I was really impressed with the battery life on it. she did homework for like, 4 hours before she had to plug in.
I barely use my macbook, it has maybe two dozen charge cycles on it, and I get under 4 hours with screen brightness at 1/4, sound off, bluetooth off and wifi on. Maybe my expectations are too high, but not breaking the 4 hour mark with so many concessions made to battery life is pretty average. If you need a laptop with a more battery sucking GPU, they do exist, but I don't think that's the point of a Macbook.
I haven’t done discharges or unplugged sprees that often, so my battery life is less than two hours at low brightness and light usage.
It shouldn't *really* affect the battery that much. LiIon batteries actually like being juiced up as much as possible. Discharging them more is what can kill them.
Do..do you ever calibrate your battery? My Macbook is about a year old now and still has a max charge in the 5000's. Does battery life just drop off that quickly or what?

Lithium-Ion batteries are essentially perishable goods. They'll continually decline in lifespan whether you use them all the time or never at all, regardless of how often you charge them or from what point or if you leave them plugged in all the time. Generally the only way you'll end up drastically cutting their life is if you leave them exposed to very hot temperatures (something that can happen in laptops,) run them completely dry and don't charge them for several days, or if you run them dry and then keep trying to get juice out of them (which will cause the cannibalization of the battery, but most lithium-ion batteries have smart controllers that are intended to prevent this from happening.)
In my experience, 1 year after purchase a lithium-ion battery will have usually have measurable charge decrease (say 85% of normal), and 2 years after it will have noticeable charge decrease but still perform adequately.
i'd like to throw in that i used my macbook for stereo-bluetooth audio today for 5 and a half hours with the lid closed and wifi turned on (was streaming pandora through one of the bluetooth speakers at work)
color me impressed, then green. i'm a martian.

It's impossible for us to without a doubt prove the non-existence of God. We just have to take it on faith that he's imaginary..
So I'm in starbucks posting from an iPod. How much of a stereotype am I?
I do more posting here on my iphone than I'd care to admit. Safari is pretty much the only application I use on the thing, but BOY do I use it .
I use Mail a lot and Calendar some. Safari is mostly just for logging into my school's WiFi network (since I've got an iPod touch). I'm also getting a fair amount of use from the Facebook application, and Wikipanion has come in handy from time to time.

Ok cool so in that case can anyone suggest me a relatively cheap router for the both of them?
