Three-Bean Chili and Counting Calories

Hey guys,

So I just made this awesome three-bean chili. I'm trying to count the calories for my diet. I made a spreadsheet, with all of the nutritional information for each individual ingredient, and tallied it up. You can see it here:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pcmwVf-zBOAvZrP_vfFISNg&hl=en

The original recipe: http://www.thegreenguide.com/doc/112/beans/2

Now, I took the volume information for the big ingredients, like the beans and crushed tomatoes. Roughly came out to 123 fl oz, which is approx. 3.5 L. Look at the big pot I made it in, that sounds about right. I entered the information into FitDay (where I track my diet), and I only had 0.5 cups with a tablespoon of light sour cream (left over from tacos). Without the sour cream, the chili was only 91 calories. It tasted like it was more.

Is my method correct? I know I'm really approximating here, with the reduction in volume that occurs with cooking. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Beans will generally always seem way more filling calorie for calorie than just about anything else you can think of. This is one of many, many reasons to put beans in your diet.

Yeah, I had a 2nd serving (another 1/2 cup, skipped the sour cream) and I don't feel all that hungry. Only at 1150 calories for the day, and I'd usually be pretty hungry right about now. I really do hope my calorie count for the chili is correct, because I think it will become a part of my weekly meals, along with my quinoa bean salad.

If someone else can confirm or deny my method, that'd be great. But based on Pheezer's comments, I'm probably correct.

My only concern is that you may not actually be eating half a cup of chili. If you're measuring it, then I guess you know for certain. This always happens to me with cereal. The box says 160 calories per serving or something, and its only after 3 or 4 days I notice I've eaten half the box that supposedly contains 16 servings. Clearly I was eating 2 servings per meal.

Vegetarian chili is pretty low cal usually. Looks correct to me, thats how I work out my counts.
