What I would like to see is simply that once you have reached level 70 on another character, you have unlimited rested experience on every alt on that realm. Would speed up leveling considerably and encourage people to spend more time leveling alts, which means they keep playing the game longer because they have more to do of interest.
More fun, more money for Blizzard.
I don't need an "instant level 70" or even "instant level 55 of any class" (like they're doing to give people one [1] DK), but I would like to see the process become faster and easier when you've gone through it before.
I don't want to see them continue to screw with the leveling curve for everyone, though. I don't think Azeroth at very least can support much more change in that area without becoming completely incoherent.

My zombie survival life simulator They Don't Sleep is out now on Steam if you want to check it out.
We’re pleased to announce a convenient upgrade to the way that mounts and vanity pets are handled in Wrath of the Lich King.
Players will be able to “learn†a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab.
Once learned, the pet icon or mount icon will no longer appear in bag spaces or bank spaces. This inventory space will be made available once again for other adventuring needs. Pets can still be set to hotkeys by dragging them to the hotkey bar, much like any other spell or ability.

I love this idea, though I don't have an idea in mind of how much it would help. Blizzard has already, several times, shifted the percent of total xp gained in a level away from killing mobs, towards completing quests.
It's true that it wouldn't be anything like double your total exp rate (unless you like to just sit there and grind) but it would still be a pretty hefty increase, especially if you use the "kill everything on the way" leveling method.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but simply lowering the total hitpoints and damage output of certain mobs would help a great deal. The first few levels in HFP wouldn't be nearly as frustrating.

I really think this is only a problem if you go to Hellfire at 58, which I've never recommended for a variety of reasons. HFP is best at 60 with Outlands greens from the AH, and in that case their HP/damage is not a problem at all.

I just played my (3v3) arena games for the first time since resubbing. Wow, the coordination and gear at lower ratings is much higher than it used to be. These were the type of teams I'd figure you wouldn't see until 17-1800. Lost two games, but they were to easily fixable tactical errors. Still, it makes me wonder if the difference between a 1600 team and a 1900 team isn't as gigantic as it once was or if I'm just underestimating the gear jump that will occur. Figured we could somewhat easily get to S4 weapons even with my dated gear and our warrior new to the class, but it's possible I need to dial back my expectation a bit. It might be a bit more work than that.

The problem I have with that is that most 58-60 greens on the AH are going for like 10-20g. I was going to do that for my Warlock/Paladin and just couldn't justify spending that much. Also, I shouldn't be able to go from beating up lvl 58-59 mobs in Azeroth to getting my ass handed to me by lvl 58 mobs in Hellfire. But that's just my personal opinion. Maybe I'm one of the few?

Now all they need to do is let players "learn" potions and let hybrids "learn" five fucking sets of gear ;D
No, I agree it's a jump from what you're facing in Eastern Plaguelands or whatever, but I think that Blizzard expected most people to come out there at 60 when they designed the place, and also to get pretty geared in quest rewards before long.
If I'm thinking of reinstalling, whats the quickest way of patching wow?
I have my orignal disks and my BC disks.
Go to the shops and grab a trial DVD.
edit: while you're doing this leave the computer on downloading the last few big patches (2.3 and 2.4 probably) so they're done by the time you get home just incase

It's better, but for druids, it'll still be almost two full sets for feral, and another one for caster, all on you at the same time. The only difference is now your bank doesn't have a balance set sitting in it.

You (and others) make it sound like Blizzard is putting a "ding level 71" button on the create character screen, but even with the improved levelling rate, people still take, what, 24-96 hours out just to get an alt to 60/70 or so? Maybe longer, depending on the class, their luck with gear, understanding of game mechanics and available help for certain quests, chains and instances? Why is a medium/grey area so horrific an idea? Just because EQ and FFXI make grinding/time wasting an artform, shouldn't the MMO genre (including our beloved WoW) aspire to more than that?
Why is leaving things as they are so horrific an idea? I guess that's my question. With 20-60, one could reasonably justify the need for leveling changes, largely because Blizzard didn't want to take the time to apply what they'd done with the new (at the time) Outland quests to all of the Azeroth ones (not that I blame them, it would've been a mammoth undertaking), so it's easier to just crank up the xp value and get people the fuck out of dodge. Ok, no problem.
But now we have people complaining that the ten whole levels of Outlands takes too long, and that's my sticking point. It's like complaining that your microwaved meal is taking too long to cook. There has to be a point where they'd say "enough is enough, things are fine as they are, just play the game or don't", I would think. Maybe not.
Fake edit: Got pulled away for a meeting so this is a bit later than I wanted.

This isn't ever a problem for my druid. But he's resto and I never carry around another set for spell damage. With my healing I sit at close to 600 spell damage, which is more than enough to kill any lv70 mob. I do have some feral gear sitting in my bank that I thought I wanted to keep for leveling. Then realized with Spellpower leveling as resto is going to get easier.

I don't recall the 60-70 grind being that bad. I actually ended up dinging 70 without ever stepping foot in Nagrand. (Still not sure how I did that).
That being said, I'm really not sure how it'll go once I get my next character in Outland. It'll seem slower, I think, since I'm leveling a paladin this time instead of a rogue. But, I will have better gear on my paladin going into Outland than my rogue did since I'll be going straight in, instead of going to Outland after a year long break.

Thank christ. I get nearly two bags of space back for these changes.
Why is leaving things as they are so horrific an idea?
Because as noted, the vast majority of the people doing 60 to 70 now (over 1.5 years since TBC came out) are alts.
Alts of people who have already done this.
Doing it once instills a sense of OOooooh, and AAAaaaahhh. Doing it a second time and beyond is often "Look, I've been here, seen the sights, grinded the rep and got the t-sh... tabard. Just let's move on, okay?"
The first time around was perfect. I've now done it 9 times, and can say from experience that while it's fine with rested while rotating through 3 alts, with straight exp it's a hell of a climb, and that's without having experienced the new 20-60 change for the most part (my shaman was like 55 when that change went through, and she is likely my last 70 until WLK).
I see nothing wrong with nerfing, easing and speeding up old content, and 60 to 70 is now very much "old content".
We're on the cusp of TBC's swan song, as it were. We're all but done. All that's left is figure out how much time and effort you actually want to spend gearing up through raiding, pvp and rep grinding, before WLK swoops in and you're either replacing your gear at 80 due to omg raid / arena epics, or how much of a fight you want to give the gear curve with your alts. There's no good reason to drag the levelling process out, and if working your way methodically through zones is someone's "bag", then they can do so. At 70. Just because you cap out doesn't mean you can't keep wandering around Outland and enjoying the sights unless you view 70 as the end, which is exactly what you've been arguing against.
Enjoying the road to 70 with all the instances and zones is wonderful, but whether you ding 70 in SMV or Zangarmarsh, that levelling content remains, whereas there's plenty of content exclusively for 70's. See where I'm coming from?

No, not really. It's ten levels. It doesn't take long at all to get through, and if you've gone through the trouble of taking an alt through 1-60, regardless of how many times you've done/are doing it, I find it difficult to understand how ten more levels, arguably the best-balanced levels in the game in terms of ease of progression and quest design, are all of a sudden considered a 'slog' or 'painful grind' in any sense of the terms.
We're just not going to see eye to eye on this one. Agree to disagree and all that.

1-60 has already been compressed though, I think the idea is to apply that to the next piece of old content.
And off the top of my head, I want to say that 60-70 probably takes about 5 days /played, which is always a long time to spend for something repetitive and old, which you do if you must because the allure of 70+ is so great.
Unless the Northrend starting zones are omg awesome in terms of experience (like HFP USED to be) you could probably level up to 72 or higher by doing BEM / Netherstorm/ SMV if for whatever reason you dinged in Nagrand. It's not like those quests will stop giving experience. If anything they will be easier with Norhtrend greens!
Is blizzard going to add a 60-70 zone/zones to Wotlk?
Cause uh, if not there's no way to get from 60-70 without buying Burning Crusade, which would really really suck for someone who is just getting into WoW.
Oh poopholes, I got rid of all my pets because they were taking up too much room. Miniwing, I hardly knew ye.
Yeah, same. Mounts too. Not that I'm ever going to actually RIDE my purple wind-rider ever again, but I'd like to at least have it on my tab for memory's sake. I hope I didn't delete Jubling...

Potions would be fine if the default stacks for all potions, elixirs, flasks, etc., were higher. At least 20. Or like someone has mentioned, a keyring-like belt pack for consumables would be really neat.
Someone was also talking about how to solve the extra gear sets problem. Just make it all "stored" in the relevant slot. Like when you pick up a piece of gear with Outfitter installed, it displays the row of other items you have that go in that slot. I love that functionality of Outfitter for swapping gear sets on the run on my hybrids. It'd work really well as gear storage too. Although it would get a bit out of hand when you could just save everything you'd ever picked up... Maybe it'd have like five slots per, er, slot. And then anything beyond that you'd keep in the bank.

I don't think you'll be able to play WotLK without having BC.

Northrend greens will probably be garbage compared to BC epics, at least the early ones. Or that's what I'm hoping, anyway.

1.12 isn't necessary. Just WoW then BC and then start patching. If you do 2.0 before BC, it does 2.0 on you again anyway.
