Hope: An MMO will come out that does PvP right.
Hate: That I still haven't canceled my WoW sub.
Happy: That, otherwise, I am finally free from its claws.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Hate : Never being able to get my friends to go anywhere since they discovered WoW.
Hope : That Warhammer somehow doesn't suck.
Happiness : That I won't be around in WoW as a Rogue to see Warriors able to dual wield two handers.
Hope: Diablo 3 comes out soon...
Hate: Temptation to go back to WoW once Lich King comes out...
Happy: That I still have tons of Console Games in Queue waiting for me to play to keep me away from MMOs...
Hope: I will get into the WAR beta soon
Hate: That I haven't gotten into the WAR beta already
Happy: I have TF2 to tide me over until WAR and its hopefully awesome realm based PvP

Happy- New laptop order that is a beast compared to this one.
Hope-War does not suck and the RvR rocks just like DAoC did but with out the horrible pve aspect.
Hate-Bored of WoW since I cannot progress via raids on any character on my server, and I hate leveling in Outlands so I am constantly leveling characters to about 60 and stopping and doing a different character.
Its the level cock-block that is 60-70. I have done it 2.5 times and just kind of bored of it. I think I am waiting for WotLK more than anything with WoW now.
Happy: M'uru finally down.
Hate: Birthday festivities and House Hunting (and my self-enforced vacation from raiding) made it such that neither my wife or I was there to pitch in on the kill.
Hope: KJ does not break my balls when I come back to raiding in August.

Heh. It occurred to me yesterday that I would really like the spell damage battlemaster trinket on my pally. But ugh 30k honor on a prot paladin? That is a lot of boring AV...

Just do what I did collect a healing set and press flash of light over and over again while eating dinner, working on a random 40k army or reading.
It only took me 2 weeks to get the trinket
What I hate is I would rather raid for gear on my warlock than spend the 75,000 honour I have had for months or just hand it off to someone else

Well, this is my alt, and she's still a good 100+ badges away from having all the upgrades I want from badge vendors. Only one Karazhan reset per week, sadly.
Drama; it's everywhere in the bloody game; first off I'll say I play this game casually, and am in a guild that can romp it's way through most heroics and kara with little to no difficulty.
Last night, I get asked by someone, if they and their friends can get invited to the guild. I chat to them for a bit, and in the end I say yes, so invite 5 or so people into the guild. Once they're all in, and after seeing them chat in /guild, I think it's a mistake. Upon saying this in /o, others agree. One officer tells me about one of the other players in the guild, saying he's not happy at all. Surely it's no biggie, these guys have only been in the guild for 20 minutes, but it looks like I'm going to have to kick them.
Anyway, I'd rather hear why said player doesn't like these new guys, so I promote him to the officer channel, and ask if he can explain. He then asks in /g to be demoted, so I do that, and then whisper him
Yeah, sorry, I just wanted to get your views of the new people, and thought it would be a good idea to invite you to /o to find out more about what you think.
He then replies
To be perfectly honest, ever since the [Playerx] issue, I don't give a shit about the ins and outs of this guild.
Brilliant. [Playerx] was an alt of a hardcore raider, who didn't actually like raiding anymore. He was a nice guy, always happy to help, get into discussions about specs, but nothing too serious; I don't actually know what happened, but over a weekend, many months ago, something came up regarding a BM run, between [Playerx] and the guy I whispered last night and they had a falling out. The GM back then kicked [Playerx] as a result.
So, after chatting to this guy last night, it's apparent he's not enjoying himself in the guild, and this largely relates to something I don't actually know about, many months ago.
Seriously, I log on to have fun, do an instance, maybe do a 10 man, do some pvp, level up a profession, dailies, etc....but it seems people expect me to be a mind reader, and be able to tell that they're pissed off without actually telling me. Quite what I can do, when I'm told fuck all escapes me, but I really can do without the drama of sorting these problems out, which have been allowed to fester.
Officer-ing can be pretty difficult and thankless, whether you're in a guild that runs heroics or farms Kil'Jaeden. On that note...
Hate: Having to explain for the tenth time why I do not want a certain person raiding with us again. Said person is good friends with the guild leader, and apparently keeps harassing him about getting us to let him raid again. My opinion has not changed since the last time it was brought up, or the time before that... It doesn't come down to "we don't need more warlocks" or some similar reason that might change over time. This guy has switched mains and randomly disappeared for months at a time so much in the past few years that I've been in a guild with him, I'm completely done with letting him get away with it. I don't care whose friend he is or how much he claims he really wants to raid again. Maybe he should have thought of that before he left AGAIN or demanded to raid on his alt AGAIN. Not to mention the fact that he's a great DPSer but can be a real douchebag and will not do things like take turns with bullshit jobs like Curse of Tongues or banishing something. Sometimes I feel like I'm just being stubborn but goddamnit.
That's the easiest way to let bullshit keep happening without any method of preventing or responding to it aside from bitching.
It's often ugly and thankless, but at least being in the chain of command means you have an opportunity to make things better.
Of course, it also runs the risk of inadvertantly making things worse, but I can't see Riz doing something to sabotage her own crew.
We had a guy in my old guild that had a rogue main... then after a while got bored and made his mage his main for raiding... then his hunter... then mage... then rogue... it gets tiresome effectively gearing up 2-3+ characters for one player, especially when it's just dps. I'm more tolerant of people who cross role lines, as having back up healers/tanks is always good, and backup dps when they play healers/tanks is nice (though they can spec for that, rather than committing to a whole new character), but alt jumping like that can be terribly frustrating.
Forar on

Yeah, this guy will give an excuse for every switch, claiming he was doing what the raid needed, but not once has he ever swapped to a healer alt. And generally when the raid needs a certain class, the solution is to recruit someone of that class, not gear up an alt and then need to recruit a geared member of the previous class.
The sordid tale: Wanted to play DPS warrior in MC, supposedly guild had too many warriors, played warlock. Quit raiding for a few months and/or raided on Alliance paladin on other server. Came back, no room for warlocks, switched to warrior. Rerolled paladin for BC. Learned that no we would not be letting him raid as ret. Quickly leveled warlock to 70 (even though we had way too many warlocks already between none leaving from the 40-man ranks and me rerolling). Raided on warlock until mid tier 5. Got "bored with warlock" and demanded to raid on rogue, which we only had one of at the time, I think. Got four-piece tier 5 and first DST in six months on rogue. Quit WoW for RL concerns. Came back a few months later wanting to raid on warlock again.

Heh. It occurred to me yesterday that I would really like the spell damage battlemaster trinket on my pally. But ugh 30k honor on a prot paladin? That is a how many marshals I can tank at the same time as Vann
Fix't
Here's how I AV on my pally:
1. Rush to SHGY, tank the guards while somebody else caps it.
2. Remount, use the "under the bridge" path to get up to SPGY. If there are other horde there I may try to grab the flag, otherwise I'll usually ride to AS (go around the backside of the southern bunker).
3. If there are other horde stealthing around, I'll tag the guards at AS while they cap. Otherwise I'll kill the guards then cap the flag. If Alliance are respawning here or actually defend....welp.
4. Assuming we get in and Drek is still up, I'll tank Vann and usually two of his marshals as the last two towers burn (or are held by alliance defense).

Question, Pete: have you leveled a character from 30-60 lately? Like since 2.3 or so? Because if you get used to that leveling rate, you hit 60 and it's like there's a wall in front of you. You get used to a level an hour and all the sudden its, "Why! Is the Experience Bar! Not Moving!"
I've got two characters sitting at that wall and two more approaching it myself. I'm hoping to have at least one of my alts to 70 before WotLK but right now it looks like only one is going to make it.
Yeah I did notice the 60-70 range seemed much slower on my Paladin. He was also the first of my characters to be able to take advantage of the 20-60 leveling changes.
EDIT: But I still enjoy it. I like the zones and I still remember the horror of the mid-40's and 50's from before the xp change.

This is what we generally try to do, although this can cause drama as well. For example: Alt mage picking up T6 gloves.
Oh I'm sorry, you're bitching that you just lost your 4th set of T6 gloves (that you were going to turn in for a second set of feral so you could gem them for cat dps) to a guy with 95% attendence's alt... And you can't see why when we have ridiculous turnover for mages that having another decurser might help us in the future? Oh that's right, you could decurse as a boomkin... We really should start bring what is it, 3? boomkins a raid now?

Random edit: PierceNeck are you going to be online Friday at all? Hey tomorrow is Friday. I think. It's Thursday right? brb coffee
Got my mage at 55 right now, wanting to get him more honor and marks, I really want to get the Marshall set for this guy.
I hate that every battleground starts with about half as many Alliance as Horde. About the only place alliance can put up any kind of a fight is in Warsong Gulch, AB we normally start 9 to 15, and AV is normally 15 to 30 at the start and by the time the Horde have burned our towers and killed enough Alliance it is 20 to 40. (This is in the 51 to 60 AV, the 61-70 bracket has 10+games going at any time of day and is normally no more then a 3 minute wait.)
And because there are so few Alliance in AV, they wipe on Galvangar and then we spend the next 30 minutes getting whittled down by the Horde between SH and Dun Baldar. If any alliance try to ride past the Horde they get chased down and killed, if we take any towers 3 - 5 Horde will fall back and get the tower back. So basically the Alliance only get Honor from HKs.
edit: That doesn't always happen, but it happens enough that it gets pretty sickening.
