I dont know about anyone else, but ever since I heard about this movie a couple of weeks ago, I've been pretty eagerly awaiting it.
I loved the original Max Payne game on the PC, even though I only really played it for the 1 night it took to beat it (on easy, cuz I'm a wuss).
Looks good but those angels had best be delusions and not actual monsters.
Agreed, in the original video game they came up whenever Max was injected with the V drug I believe. He would start to hallucinate and see all sorts of screwy stuff.
I wouldn't mind it if Lupino actually was eating the flesh of fallen angels and actually did summon demons to make himself invulnerable. As long is the movie doesn't resemble Alone in the Dark, etc., too much.
Valkyr is going to turn out to be angel blood or some shit.

Valkyr is just more Agent Orange/ Jacob's Ladder goodness.
Ugh, which means they'll write it in that it was for Iraq instead of Nam'
Valkyr isn't much more than a MacGuffin anyway. They never really explained anything about it. What was it used for? Was it a lucrative enterprise? They didn't focus on anything except the effects of the drugs, both biologically and in how they affected Max's life.

No, there were no monsters in the game, not even during the trips.
Actually, in the G&T thread on this film, some people were saying that the other trailers make it pretty clear that the Angles/Demons thing is just hallucinations, which the Max Payne series are fairly well known for.
I'm giving damned good odds that they're just artistic license.

If you pick up Max Payne for the PC, you HAVE to download the Max Payne Kung Fu Edition 3.0 Mod for subsequent playthroughs. Seriously, it's great.
This reminds me that I've been meaning to snag May Payne 1/2 on Steam for ages.
How much are they going for these days, anyway? (I'm at work, otherwise I'd just check)
I'm at work and thus can't check this link myself, but according to the forum I stole it from, the running prices are $9.95 apiece or $14.95 for both games, and you should absolutely buy both games.

Yea, I remember playing Max Payne 2 and one of the last levels was one his whacked out dreams. I remember constantly asking myself, "wtf is going in here?"
Since this franchise was ground zero for "bullet time" I wonder how they are gonna do it. The Matrix triology pretty much took a Louisville slugger to the concept, so seeing it now is kinda meh.
It's a great story and I knew sooner or later holloywood would sink their claws into it. I hope it turns out good. Marky Mark better step it up.

I was planning on getting the Cheshire Cats head from American Mcgees Alice tatooed on my shoulder blade. Then i heard out they were making a movie out of it with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Alice, around about that point i decided that it probably wasn't the best idea to get something tatooed on my skin thats going to be plastered all over backpacks and sold to Emo kids at Hot Topic.

You should have compromised and gotten Sarah Michelle Gellar tattooed to your ass.

I seriously, seriously hope they don't have "bullet time" in this game insofar as it turns Max into a superhero. I'm sure there will be some John Woo moments such as near misses spotlight with slowdown cinematography, but by God please don't have bullet time in this. Please.

Bullet time in Max Payne was very different to Bullet Time in the Matrix.
In the Matrix, bullet time slowed down the rest of the world, while allowing Neo or Agent Smith etc to move at regular speed.
In Max Payne, bullet time slowed down everything to the same pace, but gave you more time to line up your shots while running across the floor / diving etc.
It was more slow motion than actual bullet time.

Mmmm...no, that's not correct. During bullet time, you could absolutely shoot faster than physics allowed, like machine-gunning shotgun blasts. And you could also dodge better and change the direction of your jump in a superhuman way. You could reload instantly as well. It gave Max superhuman speed and reaction ability. Not even "better than average" but superhuman, or impossible for a human. It's actually pretty much exactly the same as The Matrix, though it's not as pronounced and you couldn't actually STOP time.
It is a nice game feature, but not a plausible movie feature.
In Max Payne 1, I don't recall Max firing faster than usual during a shootdodge. In Max Payne 2, where bullet time was emphasized over shootdodging, Max definitely fired faster and reloaded more quickly.
I think the problem you're remembering is that Remedy's huge project right now is Alan Wake, and that Take Two announced Max Payne 3 four years ago and hasn't made any movements toward actually having it developed in that time.
edit: holy god Gnome how did you not like Max Payne 2, it's a truly outstanding tragic love story with bullets and also time
(i can understand maybe not wanting it beforehand, but after playing it, it absolutely is a fitting continuation of the first game)
The official website pretty much confirms supernatural elements. I'm not sure what to think about that.

My guess is about the Ragnarok scene is when he gets doped up and all the Fallen Angels stuff gets in his head causing Max to think he is seeing the Fallen where ever he goes. Its just to bad we wont get the "Trapped in a Videogame...and it was the worst thing I could imagne" scene.
I just hope the murder of his family is done in such away that it really puts us in Max's shoes and wanting him to get every bit of bullet casings bouncing off the concrete revenge he so rightfully deserves.

They'd never get away with it, but I've love to see the first half of the movie being just character buildup of Max and his family. Just to make the impact greater.

Horne wasn't gathering data on Valkyr, she was selling to to fund Aesir.

Yeah, as much as I want to like it, the film just looks like a Constantine 2 flick.

edit: damn slow work connection!
memory's goin in my old age
I think Drez and Gnome are both right.
I can't remember the specifics, but isn't there a problem with this happening? At least, the most I could see happening is another developer doing it.
I'm going to go against the tide on wanting a 3rd game, I honestly didnt even want the second.
Its like trying to get a Sin City sequel, its so much better the way it is currently ended in my mind than anything that they could add to it.
EDIT: Apparently I should revisit Max Payne 2
