Does anyone know if you can only join one guild at a time? I love the discounts you get with the fighters guild but the thieves guild will let my Claymore learn pickpocketing, which can supposedly make loads of cash by stealing furniture.
...! That might be the reason why I'm suddenly not in the thieves guild anymore. That or because I nuked them.. hmm someone do some tests and find out!
They all get pissy if you try and join more than one. My tactic is to use a rod of teleport on the guard, use Incognito once I'm in, then get to the trainer, get the skills, and run like fuck.
Also, I finally found a Superior Material scroll and blew it on my artifact shotgun, which went from 4D10+3 (3) to 4D20+22 (5). SCORE!
EDIT: Aw, crap, I just looked up WHAT it turned into and it's made out of ether and speeds up the disease. Fuck.
Damn. I like the warriors guild for their subquests, and the thieves guild for their lockpicks and disguise kits. What does the mages guild give?
Oh nice! The Ex Battle in the pet arena pits your pets vs other people's from the internets. And it counts for your winning streak too. I'm just sending my two aliens vs Perfect Maid blah blah's level crap team over and over again for fame and coins.
BTW -- Internet Enabled Roguelikes is the BEST IDEA EVER, and this SERIOUSLY needs to be included in the next Pokemon/Dragon Quest Monsters/Final Fantasy Monsters/Nethack/etc

Do alien pets impregnate other monsters?
More importantly, are the baby aliens tame?
Yes they impregnate, but I've never had an enemy live long enough for it to give birth. I should have tried it on a towns person before selling both.
Try going to the healer and having your attributes restored? I can't imagine your charisma is 1 normally. The fighter's guild thing is randomly chosen, sometimes you get really easy targets like putits and other times you get phantoms which are around level 10 and rape you. You got screwed there.
Ok problem time again - I Now have a Charisma of 1. SO I can't do any gene splicing How can I get this damn thing back up?
2nd - for the Fighters Guild - where do I find the Phantoms?
1: Depends, did it get that low from mutations or diseases? If it's not those, you should be able to get it back up by visiting a healer or using a potion of restore spirit.
2: I don't know this one though, but when I did the fighter's guild quest I had to kill grizzlys. I found them usually by entering an overworld square in certain areas.
Weaken an enemy of the appropriate level to almost no health and throw it at them. I don't know if status effects help.
ok, I died and lost all mine.. is there someway to get more?
If it was on a static dungeon, just grab your stuff from there. There's a small chance it won't dissappear in a city as well, but oustide of those two situations you're out of luck. The best you can do is hope to find more or buy them if a shop has them.
Ether disease is the most ridiculous bullshit ever. I don't wear any ether items and I stay in shelter during the wind. Regardless of that, I still contract the disease probably about every fifteen minutes ingame. Seeing as, as far as I know there is exactly ONE "easy to get" potion to cure it in the game, I'm not going to fucking save like that. Is there any goddamn way to prevent this shit? It's fucking ridiculous that you're expected to just run around with this disease eventually killing you, you can contract it at any point (and it seems like the chances of contracting it from just WALKING AROUND is ridiculously high, because I no-joke get it every other time I walk across the overworld) and cures are so far and few between.
I don't mind some irritating shit in my roguelikes, ESPECIALLY when they have permadeath, but the fact that this disease is so common a game where you're supposedly NOT supposed to lose your character constantly is really grating on my nerves.

Ether Disease is based on a Corruption counter that increases the chances of getting the disease/symptoms when walking around. The counter will slowly go up no matter what and Etherwind exposure makes the counter go up crazy fast. I'm not sure if wishing for a Vindale item would help prevent the disease from manifesting since it sounds like you did something to run up the counter, but it would at least keep you from running up the counter any further via Etherwind exposure.
The easiest way to counter-act Ether disease is by wishing/finding Vindale equipment. If you're getting Ether Disease that quickly, you might have doomed/cursed equipment or equipment made of Ether. As for actually getting Cure Corruption potions, by far the easiest way is to play Blackjack at casinos. If you win around 5 times straight, you're given one potion. If you're willing to wait, then play whenever you have a Lucky Day special when sleeping, which will greatly increase your chances of winning.
You aren't NOT supposed to lose your character, you simply have the option to keep on playing.
...Which is pretty much the same thing. The game isn't designed like other permadeath Roguelikes. There's a larger sense of permanence to your character, and the fact that there is no permadeath only reinforces that.
As for the Vindale items, I'll try to find one, but I'm only lvl 4 and I haven't been able to find jack shit in the way of higher quality items. I also have no idea how one gets/uses a wish. Do Vindale items grant you immunity to the disease or do they simply slow the spread of it? And, as for my equipment, it's all fully identified and completely clean. I would never put something un-IDed and I've never worn anything that would speed up the disease, so I have no idea why my 'corruption counter' has gone up so ridiculously fast with this character.
I'm pretty sure that Vindale equipment completely nullifies it. The fastest way to get a wish is to keep drinking out of wells. This runs a risk of drawing up monsters and getting good or bad mutations, so be careful about it. How many Ether Disease symptoms do you have? I think what might have happened was you took a lot of Ether in the beginning and now it's growing really fast. If you're able to drink enough Cure Corruptions until all your Disease goes away, then you should be clear for a long time. I've kept my Ether Disease to a minimum by drinking potions as soon as I contract it and have only seen it come up about 3 times.
Grr. I am having trouble getting started with this. Any suggestions? I was thinking thief, farmer, or pianist, but...
I'd say try playing a warrior or claymore for awhile until you get the hang of it, then try a magic class. A lot of people would suggest playing the race that starts with Firearms, but I've found that finding a shuriken is a lot easier. They usually hit more often, are much lighter, and usually cause more damage due to the bleeding effect than the starting guns you'll find. The main thing you should try to do is hit really low level dungeons, around level 1-3. Clearing them will usually get you a miracle item or two after killing the boss. As for skills, the first two you really should get are Weight Lifting and Lockpicking. If you want to try a good mixture of fighting and casting, try playing a Liche Pianist. They start with all stats over 10, while magic and charisma can get over 20. They also begin with around 16-18 weight lifting, so you can carry a lot of loot without having to worry.
On the topic of Ether disease, watch out for "Shining" mobs, as they are radioactive and have skills they'll use on you to disease you right quick. One of the more common ones are the shining porcupines and their ether quills.
Now I have a question about pets, anybody have tips on leveling them? My pets fight and kill about as much as I do but they level absurdly slow. Are you basically just stuck with gene splicing to level up pets as you become stronger?
Can all classes eventually do everything in this? What are everyone's favorite starting feats?
All classes can eventually do anything as far as I know, you can purchase skills from a variety of trainers in the world, some harder to access then others, with platinum coins which you receive from the Work Board quests in any town. As you buy skills the price to buy the next becomes higher, so the more skills you learn the more you'll have to work to get the next. Also, depending on your attributes and maybe some other factors I'm not aware of, the rate at which your skill level raises will usually be fairly low on newly bought skills. That can also be raised at trainers for P Coins though, and for much cheaper then a skill purchase.
Can all classes eventually do everything in this? What are everyone's favorite starting feats?
They kind of can if you focus on stats that are relevant. The only thing is that some skills, such as tactics, can't be acquired by normal trainers. You either have to play a race or class that starts with it, wish for the skill, or get them by joining a guild. For starting feats, I prefer getting taking the feats that increase casting, followed by the ones that increase PV (Something like Stone/Iron Defense).

All you can really do is let them kill stuff instead of you. They might seem to level slower, but they tend to gain stats faster from eating corpses. They'll also sell stuff for their actual price then use the money to train. One option to help train them faster is to bring them to the Pet Arena in Port Kapul.

damn you Yahoo...1 (2) is the Charisma I have showing.
also, i laughed so hard when this came up "Use what? Leash who? You leash <Poppy> the little dog. <Poppy> the little dog gasps, "Pervert!""
Weaken an enemy of the appropriate level to almost no health and throw it at them. I don't know if status effects help.
You can leash anyone and anything. You take karma losses from leashing friendlies though.
ok, I died and lost all mine.. is there someway to get more?
I feel your pain. I still haven't managed to find any of the killer squirrels I need, and I've been at it for about the same amount of time.

Try the third level of puppy cave, the first level of newbie forest, or the first main quest dungeon.

I've gotten a few from random quests as well. I have like 4 or 5 potions sitting at home in my current game.
