I'm debating launching a new comic venture. For this I hired an artist - thus the debate of should I launch, and pay him $50 a page, or not? Anywho, I'm going to showcase the first five pages, originally intended for submission to publishers, to see what people think about them. If the balloons are too small I'll adjust them, as they were placed at their current sizes for print, not web.
My overall goal here is, based on feedback, to decide whether or not it's viable to put up the site.
The art looks good, but if you are planning on using them for the Web, you'll need to make the pages or the words larger.

For a second there I thought you had gotten dramatically better since the last thread you made, falconire, but your OP explains that this art isn't yours - so I don't think this thread is going to work.
Also from what I remember, your writing is pretty bad ('tits of steal') - and your colouring was just picking primary colours out of photoshop. Maybe those have dramatically improved in a year, but I don't think they're going to leave you much to contribute to your artist friend.
So if you're not doing the art bit, I'm not really sure if the AC is for you. We can only provide constructive criticism for YOUR work, if the person who made those pages wants advice, tell him to make an account and we'll talk to him directly.
If you just want to know 'is this comic I might buy looking good', you should try asking in Graphic Violence instead.
His writing improved a bit over the course of his last TWB thread, and he's a bit better at listening to crits. Though he still vanishes after a few replies...
having (painstakingly) read the tiny print, i'm afraid the writing still stinks
fantastic art though; who's the artist?
The artists name is Andreas Carranza. What is the problem you see with the writing here? Is it gramatical? (Since looking back I have notice a gramatical mistake or two which I'll edit before posting on a site.)
I'm also curious (although this is a writing question) what people think of the story so far - although it is only five pages.
Are you doing the layout? My only criticism of the art would be that on the fifth page you break the fourth wall seemingly without reason.
In panel 1, the lamp's smoke drifts outside the frame.
again, in panel 5, the cigarette smoke breaks the frame, but in panel 6 it does not.
My biggest gripe is in panel 4 where one of the brother's heads breaks through the frame, making it look like the hand in panel 1 is digging into his skull.
I would suggest keeping the frames solid unless you have a good reason for breaking through them: transitioning between scenes, summoning up an ethereal atmosphere, punching so hard it breaks through reality... that kind of stuff.
Absolutely fantastic inks, though. Congrats on catching such talent.
I wrote the layouts, although I let Andreas bend things a little where he thought it was needed. With the smoke thing, I think it's more of a stylistic choice on his part, as it wasn't called for in the script.
I have another question - off topic of course, but it'll help on my decision to put this on a site - It costs me $50 dollars a page to have the comic pencilled, inked and lettered. I plan one page a week to start (eventually getting to 4), which will cost me $200 a month to keep the site up and running. Anywho, the only way I'll be making any money back will be through google ads - unless anyone has another suggestion - so my question is, does any one who is familiar with adsense know how many hits I would have to get, say in a month or per day, to end up paying for that $200 investment every month?
#1: Compare successful comics with unsuccessful comics.
#2: That return is going to take a long time if it ever comes.
Ok, but are you familiar enough with adsense to answer my question? I realize there's a big chance that I won't see the money back. I'm at the point where I'm going to put down another $1200, whether or not I get it back, which should keep the comic running for a few months. I guess I'm trying to figure out the numbers here.
