I was going back through the factory/base thing by Agropom to get to a quick assassination quest, when I saw a bunch of flashlights and gunfire. Strangely, the guns weren't pointed at me. The gunfire kept going as I turned the corner and saw a bandit facing away from me, obviously in combat mode. Note: it's pitch-fucking-black and I haven't thought to turn my night vision on. I'm watching this bandit when he goes down, but I still don't know what was attacking him.
Until, of course, I see the familiar world-blurring effect of a bloodsucker right in front of me.
There was a stash inside the base, but I really didn't want to find out if there were any more bloodsuckers.
Sounds like I must be using an old version of OL... i've never had the bar get attacked yet or anything, although that might be because I haven't even gotten through yantar yet.

They added random world events in 2.1 . A line of text with a portrait pops up on your screen, saying something like 'Mr. Name - GARBAGE - I saw a bunch of dwarfs come from the Dark Valley!' And then next time you go you'll see dwarves in the Dark Valley area.
I believe the dark green scientist suit is the best one since it protects against a lot of radiation and nasty environmental effects, and then the exoskeleton is the best for stopping bullets (and raising your carry weight).
My experience in OL 2.1 has been that the Duty suit was actually one of the best, if not the best for overall protection. I don't think it hits quite the same level of anomaly and radiation protection as the science suit, but it has better bullet protection.
Hmm. Is there some way to prime your hand grenades so dudes can't run as easily from them? It always seems like they've got plenty of time to run while their own grenades detonate almost right after impact.
Alt-fire (right mouse) seems to prime the grenade; he rips the pin out and you'll see a small circle fill up around your target reticule, but this seems to affect the distance and accuracy of your throw rather than actually letting the timer run down. Some quick testing showed it was actually pretty useful for chucking it under or around obstacles at a distance, like under vehicles or through gaps in fences. But yeah, as far as I know there's no way to wait until it's ready to blow and then toss it.
The problem that I found with the exosuits is that they deteriorate really fast in OL, so yeah, its great at stopping bullet damage for a little while, then it starts dropping down to normal protection pretty fast. Since you can't sprint with it you end up getting hit a lot more.
So I wiped out that renegade Duty squad outside Freedom base. But apparently they're tied to the main Duty faction in OL, so now I'm boned when I want to get to the bar. Ah well, more shooting!

I waited until a blowout took out the sniper, and then helped the Freedom guys when Duty attacked the base.
Didn't make me hostile to the Duty in the Bar, though apparently there are Duty members somewhere who want me dead. Never ran across them though.

Doesn't OL include a new version of the military suit, though? Yeah, the Skat-10 - though at 200,000 roubles I don't see myself gettin' that for a long-as-fuck time. Anyone know what its ratings are?

I just want to know the conversion of Roubles to Dollars.

I picked it up myself, and was pretty unimpressed with it. Ended up reloading my quicksave and just sticking with my Duty suit. It's been a little while, though, so I'm not 100% sure what the stats were. I'll have to take another look when I'm working on this playthrough.
Huh. That's dissipointing - I always wound up with the Skat as my final suit (never bothered doing the one job for Duty that nets you the PDZ, though).

I need a save from right after X16 using the stalker mod compilation. Anyone have one?
When I played OL I really missed whatever mod made night-time really dark. That is awesome.
:?:
Nighttime in OL is dark as fuck when the conditions are right.

Nighttime in this stols core I'm playing is so dark I need the flashlight or I can't see and get eaten by an [insert monster here].
Tune your contrast/gamma man. Heh.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.

Yeah, that's what I meant, dark like that. Pitch black. Very atmospheric.
I mean, when it's a clear sky and the moon and stars are out and full yeah it's pretty bright out at night, which is actually rather awesome since you get a rare opprotunity to keep forging ahead.
But when you get a thick cloud cover overhead?
And it's the dead of night?
And it's a heavy rain?
Motherfucking wall of black. And it's like that 90% of the time.

OL night-time is just, well, sorta dark.
That's actually not how it is for me, OL night has been pretty much pitch black. The hardest thing is being in the Bar and trying to navigate it with just your flashlight.

Is that normal?
Also: This oblivion lost sounds pretty sick, should I finish my playthrough on vanilla/zero or just go straight to OL?
Also: This is the greatest fucking single player fps ive ever played. By FAR.
I got my SEVA suit on a hard-to-reach stash I got from killing plot bandits... so yes, it's normal.
I'd do a vanilla playthrough first. OL seems like it could be overwhelming without previous experience.
I was looking for a SEVA but then I just bough the guardian of freedom suit. Don't know how it compares though.
I'll tell you what, they do that and you will see a grown man cry.

Now playing: Teardown and Baldur's Gate 3 (co-op)

Can I edit savefiles somehow to make them neutral again? The dude in the bar keels me.
I know you can't run, don't think I tried jumping though.
Makes you a hell of a tank though.
I just want to know the conversion of Roubles to Dollars.
Hence my "you only get like $2.50 for an Akaban from the trader" comment from a while back.
Damn, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. need a real job.

Skat-10. I picked it up off the Barman when I had a ton of cash and nothing to spend it on.
Like I said, not nearly as impressive as I'd hoped.
Ah, well, off to the NPP!
I usually pick up the Skat 9 from the stash simply because by the time I get there, my Duty suit is pretty much torn to shit.
Any word on that? Because that would be awesome - and I feel as if I say it enough powerful magic may make it happen.
Damn straight.
I never asked for this!

Hey, I've played the hell out of STALKER, and I agree that doing so without modding could be needlessly provoking your own insanity...
But still, my PC can't run these games with all the pretties...and I do want to see some god rays.
Anyways, it wasn't a suggestion - I thought someone actually posted a bit of an interview or something saying GSC ordered some 360 devkits.
