I found that artifact, what a pain :)... and
the guy who wanted the tank machine gun just died because stalkers fail at defending any outpost, which makes you wonder how they even got to these places to begin with. Going to vendor the tank machine gun.

Oh and the remade red forest is 10,000 times better than the original one.
I'm pretty sure with those it's being blown around in the killing vortex so you can't get it till the vortex explodes.

I'm going to regret selling that tank machine gun considering how effectively it tears through bloodsuckers. But the price was too perfect. I now have 150k saved. Too bad faction wars are so broken that I can't even buy an SVD from freedom.

There is a series of artifacts that removes radiation. Wretched/Bubble/whatever else. It's probably the first artifact you use and as you get more slots you can add other artifacts without any negative penalty as long as you balance them properly.

So are blowouts random or do they happen at set points? I am wondering if my game script is off as I am at the point where
you are supposed to go underground in the Agropom research area to flood it or something
and the only blowout I have witnessed was the first one you get right at the start of the game in the swamp.

They are random timers in each zone. The longer you spend in one section the longer you will have a chance of a blowout.

So if you run back and forth between zones it could be ages before you see a blowout.

So how broken are the faction wars, actually? I just entered the Garbage zone and soloed the prison camp near the entrance. Once I cleaned the camp out, I got a message from the Stalkers saying that they had successfully defeated the Bandits. I assume this is a bug, since the main bandit base was completely untouched and still crawling with bandits. The Stalkers never once attempted to move forward past the minor outpost at the exit to Cordon, before or after "defeating" the Bandits. How exactly is the battle for Garbage supposed to go?

The blowouts aren't really that much of a concern because they give you plenty of time to get to a shelter. Its not like in some mods where blowouts spawn a bunch of mutants or something. I think blowouts should reset all the control points that don't have any kind of shelter to keep the faction war more interesting. The squads shouldn't all die but they should move back to more substantial nodes during the blowout and then have to capture them again.

You probably got a message indicating that they had completed one of their main objectives which is to obtain a foothold in the garbage.

Basically that right there is how they are broken. The AI never seem to advance on targets or pick on weak outposts.

Pretty lame, Millhouse. How about the weird premature victory announcement? It even says "Bandits Defeated" on the faction war screen, even when the bandit base is completely populated.

Clearly the only option is to stay neutral and murder everyone since siding with bandits will leave you friendly to the bandits who are also the worst faction ever invented.

God damn this game. I'm playing pretty conservatively, coming back to a camp I'd just cleared out a few minutes before and find it full of bandits. Stoop down next to a stump for some cover to line up some shots and.......grenade. I swear there's a lot more grenades being thrown in clear sky than I ever saw in SoC.

Also, how do you mount the scope to the Ak-74, maybe I'm dumb, but I couldn't make it happen.

Wow, I am late to the STALKER party, but here I am. I was thinking of getting Clear Sky just because I have heard great things, I checked to see if Steam had a STALKER pack, and I saw the first was only $19.99, so I figured what the hell.

I am in love with this game. I had no idea it was this good, I honestly thought it was a F.E.A.R. clone with weapons that had stats. It's a First Person RPG in the vein of an MMORPG. Central "base" points, quest logs, fetch quests, the whole 9. BUT WITH GUNS!!!!!!!!. This is what I thought Fallout 3 would be like, but I get to play this now.

I am not too far, just got to the bar, but I am def. loving this game!

I don't know what Fallout 3 is going to be, but all the videos I've seen lead me to believe it'll be more like Oblivion than like STALKER.

I mean, you can get better guns in STALKER and that helps things like accuracy, but you never level up, at the end of the day your skill will be the deciding factor.

I would actually liken this to Oblivion as well, it's not AS Rpg'ish with stats and such, but I just mean the wide open areas. Quests from people you meet a long the way. Rewards for exploring (caches and the like). Do what u want, go where u feel like.

In my head, I thought this was more a linear story driven FPS with scary monsters that takes place in a photo-realistic Chernobyl. The sheer vastness of the world is awesome with the real feeling of, I can go and do whatever I please. Lots of fun.

Just read the OP. Awesome information in there, I will have to check out some of the tweak mods. There def. seems to be a bit of un-polish to the game, that I look forward to fixing.

Yeah loving the vastness of SOC atm except on my machine it takes a hell of a long time to load between sections.

I did find a hunting rifle though so that more than made up for everything.

I haven't even gotten to the bar yet, just about to do the mission where you steal the docs from the lab or something, keep getting sidetracked.

My thought processes up until now:

taking on bandits at bus depot with a pistol - this game is too hard
taking on 6 soldiers guarding the railway bridge with pistol/grenades - this game isn't that hard
getting the hunting rifle - this game is actually pretty easy
killing 3 soldiers on the road near the noob town causing the rest of the soldiers to abandon the nearby military outpost and raid the noobie town killing nimble and the guy who I wasted a medikit on, thus pissing me off and wanting revenge causing me to destroy them all with my hunting rifle - this game is fucking awesome!

Pretty sure I'll change my mind about the easiness once I go underground though, close quarters and a slow reload may make the hunting rifle the wrong choice, especially if something is eating my face. Maybe I'll just pussy out, stay above ground and continue killing bandits, night time scares me enough without combining darkness and close quarters while fighting unknown entities.

All the bandits sound pretty hardcore to me. In fact having met all the characters in freedom, duty clearsky, lone stalkers etc, the bandits are probably the coolest. Seriously just visit their base.

Alright, so I made it to Military Warehouse and figured I was getting really far in the game and that I'd double back to Garbage for some faction warring, maybe get some decent gear out of it. Up until this point, I'd been with the loner faction which was failing to get me anywhere since they refused to cap the bandit camp everytime I cleared the thing.

I head over to Dark Valley and ally myself with the freedom clan since I already had really good faction with them and had done all their quests. Since I've already cleared everything in Dark Valley, they push immediately into Garbage and things appear to be going good. My first directive is to attack the loner camps that border Duty territory. Well, I wasn't too happy about this so I decided to kill the bandits instead. After clearing all the bandits and realizing freedom really didn't give a shit about their bases, I took out one of the loner camps and let freedom cap it.

Now here is where things get really freaking strange. After my freedom group takes the border, a completely different loner group decides to cap the depot! What the fuck?! I'd cleared that thing a million times, now all of a sudden they are motivated to cap it. Well, I wasn't too pissed about this because I figured I'd probably remain neutral to them and could benefit from wiping both bandits and duty off the map.

So the first duty patrol pushes into Garbage and attacks my freedom group. They only make it a couple steps since I'm putting rounds in their heads as they step out of the tree line. Despite this, when I turn around every one of my duty soldiers is mysteriously dead - wtf? The point is up for grabs, so despite being completely retarded, I figured freedom would send another patrol and cap it back. I stay here for around 30 minutes, killing about 6 waves of duty groups before I decide I might as well push into their territory and give more room for my freedom guys to take over.

Upon clearing duties first base, I realize something. Freedom doesn't plan to make any sort of showing, Every freedom patrol on my map is frozen in place and I haven't recieved a single updated radio broadcast. In place of my freedom backup, instead I get loner patrols consisting of a single soldier, who spawns in front of me and runs back towards Garbage with the goal of capping the already capped depot.

So as if things aren't retarded enough, I decide I'll keep killing duty chumps, not like I've got much else to do besides reload several hours worth of work. As if it weren't bad enough, now every time I kill a duty patrol, duty themselves send me radio broadcasts about how we kicked their asses. WTF? And on top of that, I'm not getting attacked by 4 separate duty patrols at a time but they all only consist of a single soldier. I can't push forward because they come from different directions.

I guess I'm trying to figure out if I can just run past all their patrols and take out their main base for a cheesy win to this ungodly awful battle.
