The inventory has two secondary slots now, above the armor there's the anomaly detector, duel wield plox? even if its totally useless, I want to be a bad ass when the time calls for it.
Also I hope that taking all of the enemy locations doesn't take them out for good, because even though the AI can usually handle it self, just by default, you're gonna win against an enemy AI group.
Hmm. I hope we don't have to choose between carrying both a detector and binocs and one and a sidearm. Also, inability to use SMGs in the secondary slot = boo.
It looks like they simplified armor and DR - looks like it's telepathic, poison/acid, radiation, fire/electric, and impact/rupture/bulletproof/explosion now
All that primary/secondary stuff can be changed in a mod seconds after the game is released.
And I don't mind that much about a simplified armor system, since in most cases, it really only applied to what anomalies effected what. Because the armor it self usually focused on either environment or combat. But again, I'm sure that can be changed pretty easily.
I never said I was sad about it - why they even bothered distinguishing Impact and Bulletproof I don't know, though including Rupture and Explosion under a catch-all with those sorta' irks me (after all, it's not the explosion that kills you but the shit it sends flying that does).

Nice screens. My psyched level hasn't changed but that's because it's been pinned since a few hours into Shadow of Chernobl.
Urgh. As much as I love this game, it is so effing buggy. I just failed the whole "mercenaries are coming to shoot the crap out of the starting camp, save us marked one!" mission because the AI tarded out. If I remember, there should be a guy who comes running saying "They're coming!" when the mercs are near, no such luck this time. But that wasn't even the problem. The problem was that while all the other stalkers were taking their positions, Nimble decided he was just going to sit chilling out by the fire. But THAT wasn't even the problem. I killed the lot of them without losing a single stalker, but it still said i'd failed. Huh?
Muahah, modded in a unique PPsh that uses Shotgun ammo. Holy shit this thing is absurd and necessary for OL on Hell mode, since shotgun ammo is the only thing thats any good against mutants.
OooOOOooh! Capturing locations of interest and function? I like!
EDIT: THis reminds me, I've got to get around to installing that leaked 2007 demo from the last thread.
It's really a slapped together demo and if you don't follow the "script" then you'll break it. If you don't hide in the reeds, the copter will chase you the whole level and kill you, if you loot an animal you'll crash the game, etc etc. The map doesn't even seem to have borders, it just turns into blank flat ground at a certain range.
It's really cool to mess with the console commands for time and have the sun zoom across the sky though. It's just so pretty
Goes into trader_trader.ltx under the custom items header after [trader_generic_buy]
In string_table_enc_weapons.xml under text/eng
<string id="enc_weapons1_wpn-ppsh_mp41_m1">
<text>The PPSh-41 submachine gun was one of the most mass produced weapons of its type of World War II. The Eastern front received 4,000 units of 9mm barrels and mag adapters to be changed by the Army's Armory in the Ukraine. Modded by those in the Zone to accept 12 gauge shotgun rounds. \n Ammunition:\n 12x70 Shot,\n 12x76 Slug,\n 12x76 Dart.</text>
</string>
That goes under escape_dialog.script under the
function give_weapon_to_actor (trader, actor) header so wolf'll give it to you when you start a new game. You can give it to the traders too, but its just easier for me to do that.
That should be it, if its not, congrats, your game won't load anymore

I haven't touched customizing weapons yet, but what's to stop you from turning that pistol into a grenade launcher?
I think I know what I'm doing when I get home. Not that such a thing is needed in Vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but I beat the game already and it'll be damn fun.
if you really wanted to, you could make the PPsh shoot grenades, just change the ammo type. And make sure you have wolf gives you like 500 rounds.

I already have lots of grenades, and I should be able to get randomly generated mercs or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s to carry it without starting a new game. Since they don't use or even carry underslung grenades, it's not even a danger to the player.
It doesn't even have to be a specific pistol, it seems I can assign whatever art assets and stats I'd like through the various files. In the end though it'd really just be a faster Bulldog-6/RGD-6 with less recoil and a larger clip. Actually I might as well make it look like that but have nutty stats.
Heh heh. Maybe I could make those tennis balls with the tops cut off and the insides stuffed full of match heads!
Just use the 2nd type of Russian rifle-grenade; same idea, professional execution.
While I'm at this, I think I want to make a Viper-5/HK MP5 with a ridiculous clip size and the stability of the Alps, then find a pack of Pseudodogs. It will give me something to do with all the useless ammo I've saved.
Am I the only one who gets so drawn into the game and so attached to those rare individuals who do not want to suck my blood or eat my brains or have me dance the Chaingun Cha-Cha that whenever you find out that one of them gets taken down in the field you really get bummed out? For example, I finished Yantar and am just doing some putzing around and doing jobs and stashes and the like (Yay for the Vintorez in the elevator box in X16!) and have been running through Wild Territory several times and a while ago I met this duo of stalkers called Vlad Potan and Stepan Rambo: over the course of my incursions I've run into them several times - sitting with the Duty garrison near Rostok, fighting off various critters, Vlad covering for Stepan while he takes a nap, tackling the bandits at the end of the tracks - and then when I was coming back from Yantar just now I found their bodies on the tracks near the boarded-up house with the safe stash, probably taken down by those asshole mercenaries.
And then I look at the ranking page in the PDA and it's practically a solid page of red - pretty much everybody of note save for one or two people has been taken down. Death by gunshot, death by gunshot, death by bloodsucker, death by anomoly while rushing for cover from a blowout, death by brain liquification by controller...
I mean, I know it's the will of the zone and everything, but man, talk about a downer.
Wasn't there a mod in the works to bring in new STALKER's into the Zone, over time?

There are a few NPCs that I have taken a liking to. Normally the ones that come out of nowhere and save my ass. One in particular took shelter with me in a farmhouse during a blow out. We were then attacked by zombies. He gave his life so I could get away.
At least that's how I pictured it anyway.
Also, ours is not to question the Zone's logic, only to follow the Zone's Will.

So I got to the garbage right. And it's night right. And it's dark right. And you can't see shit.
I've gone hunting on nights like that. This game nails the lighting and the feel of those kinds of situations perfectly.
Except for the whole random growling in the distance and sometimes right next to your ear for no good reason. oO

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
For the first time I decided to clear out the bloodsucker village. I usually just snipe the one for the mission and run away because those things scare me.
it was tense but fun. On three separate occasions bloodsuckers burst through the boarded up doors of houses to chase me down. damned things have crazy life in OL - I emptied four full clips from my HK G36K into one.
I'm sad that Bes always dies sooner or later. And Wolf.
I actually use the VIP Invincibility mod. Which is funny, because I hated that sort of thing in Oblivion, but then I didn't particularly care about any of the NPCs in Oblivion.
Which speaks a lot for S.T.A.L.K.E.R, because those NPCs really don't have anything special about them character wise, especially after you finish their story parts. Then they become no different then any other NPC, but I still care damnit!

Having read Stolls's LP on Stalker, I feel totally prepared for Stalker: Clear Sky, despite having only played the original for an hour or so at a friend's house.
I'm still staying the hell away from that damn Bloodsucker mission right now. I'm going to do it....just not right now. I absolutely hate those things, whenever I hear one around I pretty much scream "FUCK THIS SHIT!" bust out my grenade launcher and open the fuck up on it till he's dead to death. That first one you meet in the catacombs under the Agroprom, spent a good ten minutes dancing around with him because all I had was that hunting shotgun (which is awesome, but still) and some piece of junk AK.
Also, on one of my routine trips to the Army Warehouses, I stopped by that little village where all the Duty guys are/were (they all died in the base assault) and it's now taken over by a bunch of Stalkers. One of them was standing in the barrel, on fire, while the other like five of them just stood in a circle around him and talked to him.

Pretty sure what happens is that they spawn in the fire and die. Couldn't a mod fix that by making other S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s immune to fire? Yeah it would mean [strike]Ice[/strike] Burner anomalies (muhahaha!) wouldn't kill them, but I can't think of anyplace they might actually run into one.
I actually reloaded when I slept through the night in the Bar, only to come out front and find Wolf lying dead on the ground. So I started again and this time I killed the dogs out front before I went to sleep.
Now him, Bes and Vampire are kicking it at the small Loner camp in the Warehouses. Every time I go through there, I make sure to clear the area around their camp.
The worst thing in army warehouses is when they want you to protect the exit from the Monolith, so you do it, then you turn around to see their whole team was mauled to death by boars and dogs.
I won't mind so long as the traders stop gypping us so much with their trade-in prices. 600 Roubles for an Akaban? That's, like, $2.50. That and letting us take the money from dead stalkers would be grand.
