I've heard people talking about this place called Pink Godzilla and saying you have to go there. What is this place?o_O
Pink Godzilla is a game store that sells older games, collector items, imports as well as new stuff. They hang their merchandise from the ceiling because they can't fit all of it on selves. I think they close their store to attend PAX since they bring most of their inventory there.

Yeah, they bring almost the entire store to PAX, so there's no reason to go there, because they'll be at PAX in full force.
I don't know how they manage to spontaneously double their inventory, but I was able to enter and patronize their International District location during PAX last year.

They don't close the store during PAX. Some unlucky person has to stay there and run it. I know cause I walked over there (yes, walked, it's not that far) on saturday afternoon last year and bought a few games. (Keith Courage lol)
The booth at PAX represents I'd say around 5% of what they have in the store. They have a ton of crap at the store!

Indeed. Their walls and ceilings seem to be always stocked. WAY too much good stuff in there.

Yeah, it's packed to the gills with sugar, and I always feel a bit silly as I'm flipping through every single individually sandwich bagged game, but hey, I've got to drive a while to get there. It's great to know that they've always got a wide selection of staple classics, and there's always the chance of seeing something really special.
I hope you didn't pay too much for it. Keith Courage is the Super Mario Bros + Duck Hunt of TG16 games.... o_O
Anyway, I've gone to the Pink Godzilla store a few times. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in town a day or two early, 'cause you can get dibs on the good stuff before their stock gets all picked over!
If for some reason you need to head to Pink Godzilla during PAX (maybe you just want to visit it), it's very easy to get to. Just head to the bus tunnel Convention Center stop, get on any southbound bus (going into the tunnel, not coming out) and ride to the International District, and bam you're 1.5 blocks from Pink Godzilla. Reverse details for getting back to PAX.

And while you're there, stop by Oasis for some delectable refreshments. And Uwajimaya.
I only saw their booth last year, but they were insanely overpriced. Markups of 50-100% on what are clearly eBay-bought items. They must be raising their prices exclusively for the show because otherwise I couldn't imagine how they'd stay in business.
Edit: No, even comparing their site to eBay is ridiculous. Black label copy of Final Fantasy Tactics? $25 used on eBay. Pink Godzilla? $55. More than a 100% markup. Don't buy from them.

I dunno, I think $3 for an NES game is pretty good these days. And they're good at finding rare imports. Some of their stuff is marked up, but a lot of it is very fairly priced.

Aside from extreme examples, I'd rather pay a few extra bucks for them to provide the service of tracking these things down, making sure they're in clean and operating condition and avoid altogether dealing with fingerprints, sweat-gunk, and kid boogers myself.
Hey, it's your money. From my experience, there's very little tracking down involved when it comes to games. Save for a very select few, most everything branded "rare" is probably on eBay as I type this sentence.
Agh, just looking through their site gives me a headache. I've owned and sold a lot of these games. Lunar on Sega CD for $75? That's quite literally a 150-200% markup.
I should start my own business at this rate. Fuck.

Strawberry Slush with no tapioca. The best tasting slush ever.
Also, Yummy House Bakery.

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
On one hand, I understand the retail markup (running a b&m location is NOT cheap), but $175 for D&D Collection? (It looks re-shrinked, even)
I got a mint (lit. MINT) one on eBay for like $80. And we all know eBay is usually a bit overpriced for things such as this (older games).
Don't even get me started on $100 for a top loader... jigga please.
I like the store and the staff. They're good people, have a great setup, excellent service and all the employees I talked to really enjoy this sorta stuff.
But aside from buying some cheapo items here and there (like Keith Courage.. and yeah I know how common it is, I own several pce's and a crapton of games for them even for $5, it's still much cheaper than what I'd pay for it online with shipping tacked on), I don't think I'll be making any major purchases from them. I tried talking one of the guys at the booth down to like $120 cash moneys for DracX but he wouldn't budge. Understandable, but $175 is still too much for that game (and no spine card? forget about it!).

Last year, they released a quirky card game and had a tournament in the freeplay area.
They also had a booth in the exhibition hall with all kinds of old/unusual games (SNES, NES, etc)

I bought Ouendan 2 from them last year at PAX

That pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

Check out the shot of the store on their website. They might be overpriced but it looks like a great place to browse.
