Another gamer marathon... but this one looks to actually be more like desertbus where the players are actually doing a real marathon...

What do you guys think? Over done? Still donate?

This one is with Unicef, apparently every $25 saves a life....

(sorry for double post, but I originally made the mistake of posting this in the wrong subforum... it was a very bad idea haha)

I've never understood how $25 "saves a life"? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with donating. Donating is probably a good thing. But if I donate 25 bucks and nobody else in the world does, how does that save a life? I think it's a lie. Makes it sound like there's a 1:1 ratio between wads of $25 and life saving.

    Oh. Its very simple Drez.

Right now 10 million kids die each year to totally PREVENTABLE deaths.
6 million of these are to curable diseases.

This is where the 1:1 ratio comes in. Every $25 is enough for one immunization. Give that to a child and they are protected from the 6 leading child-killing diseases in Africa for life.

25 dollars is pretty huge for some people. It can cover the cost of a few vaccines.

I'm pretty sure living in Africa is the number one cause of child death.

lets see, how many people are playing wii for days on end? How much is minimum wage? Even at minimum wage if they donated all of the money they made I think they would make more than 55$.

This is pretty dumb self back patting.
