Final Fantasy XI/Xbox 360 question

So I just picked up Final Fantasy XI for the 360 and am currently loving it.

I was wondering, however, if it's at all possible to type in Japanese while chatting in-game. I know there are a list of pre-translated phrases you can use, but I'd like to actually be able to type in Japanese. If somebody knows how this can be done, or even if it's possible or not on the 360, please let me know.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    You might try asking in the ffxi thread in the MMO sub forum.

    My experience with the PC title is that, unless you've got the japanese version, you're going to be limited to the auto translator and romanji.

    Just out of curiosity, is there a monthly fee for this game on top of regular Live fees?

    Yes, but you don't need Gold to play it.
