I mean, on the one hand I'd be excited, but on the other hand, it doesn't make any sense
it has to be a red herring
Generally red herrings depend upon an obvious interpretation of a clue that masks its true meaning, though, not randomly flashing to a gold statue just to throw people off.
So the way I see it, it has to be some manner of Superboy, because anything else would just be bad writing.
Also, the assault on Kandor was awesome.
And Kara lost the only good parent she had.
Seriously, her mom is a bitch to the point of straining credulity.

Some writers would disagree with you. The Jackpot thing, for example? Her name is Jackpot, she had red hair, and she says tiger. All of this is being a coincidence. The writers called it a red herring. There's no real "interpretation", to be had. Everyone knew it wasn't Mary Jane, but the writers were throwing at you saying "Hey, you! Think it might be!"

Yeah, and that's call bad writing.
Well, then. bad writing is very prevalent. I was more commenting on the fact that the misuse of "red herring" is fairly common. Why did Cage's baby's eyes flash green? The world may never know.
Okay, at this point I think Geoff Johns needs to be elected president of Superman. Also, the Braniac story needs to be the next movie. When I read it I felt like I was reading the best Superman movie I'd never seen. Keep Routh as Superman, give it to Singer to direct, they could even tie it into Returns a little bit. Maybe even have Braniac kill his kid.
My comic store is only getting in every other issue of New Krypton. I'm missing so much that I've elected to stop reading and wait for the trade. There are no other comic shops anywhere near me.
No name guy is officially out, Rucka and Robinson are teaming up to write the entire run instead.
Also, two other reasons for my bump:
1. A Superman thread should never end up on page 2.
2. Especially not when we have THIS FUCKING TALENT busting away on what will probably be THE GREATEST SUPERMAN RUN of all time.

I don't know why, but I really can't stand the storyline. It may be because 1)I still think Kara as she is written kind of sucks bigtime, although not as much as she did. She still isn't a good character, though. And 2)Superman acting like a dumbass is not at all enjoyable for me.

While he's not at a Beechen or Bruce Jones level of terrible, Kreisberg isn't a very good writer either. His Batman Confidential arc and current Green Arrow/Black Canary run are pretty mediocre. Why they put him on a freaking Superman book is beyond me but I'm really happy that Rucka and Robinson are writing it now.
I kinda feel like New Krypton was mostly an editorial decision, trying to get Johns, Robinson and Gates to re-create what happened with Sinestro Corps War. The problem with that sort of thinking, at least to me, is that Johns tends to write far better events when he has a year or two to build up to them. So instead of being a Sinestro Corps War, it felt more like a Lightning Saga (or with the Batman books, Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul).
That's not to say I'm not looking forward to the upcoming stories though, all five books sound pretty promising (including Johns' Superman origin book).
Wasn't sure I wanted to follow superman as it goes on, but I picked up WoNK #1 on a whim, and it was fucking fantastic.
I'll probably get the first issues of Action and Superman under this new start, as well. Supergirl is something I'll consider following in trades, or maybe even grabbing the backissues of in the next few weeks. I definitely have a stronger interest in following Kal and Kara, even when the other books still have such great writers attached.
I wish the trades/hard covers were released a bit more quickly. I passed on collecting New Krypton because I hate going between books, but now I really wish I had access to it before reading WoNK.
Edit: How long has Supergirl been on the Superwoman storyline?
I really like that Mon El is gonna be helping out. I always liked that character. The fact that he's been trapped in the phantom zone with a bunch of criminals just so he can live has always made me sympathetic towards the character. Or something.
And I think the reason why Superman is going to live on New Krypton is two fold:
1) He wants a chance to live among his people and explore his heritage.
2) He wants to keep an eye on Zod, who he knows is up to no good.
they dont necessarily have to continue the story to keep the series going. I believe the plan was to get artists who haven't drawn superman to do different stores. I think that's a great idea. Imagine all the indie/alt comics talent they might get.
I normally follow in trades, but I decided to grab the three first issues of this new ark for each book.
I haven't read Last Son, so I'm not super familiar with these characters, and I can't say if I'm interested in continuing with them. The book, so far, has kind of this krypton spec-ops, action series thing going. From what little was there, it seems like Nightwing and Flamebird will be chasing down escaped Phantom Zone criminals and occasionally throwing down with Ursa for the duration of their run. That could all change rather quickly, but that's the initial outlook of the book.

"the strength of Mon El, the Bravery of Steel, the goodness of Black Lightning, and the little shittiness of Zatara."

It's so fucking awesome
like, in the literal sense of the word
Grant Morrison should never not write Superman.

it's a spectacular ending as it is
best to leave it untouched, at least for a while

I just skipped to that part in the store to see if it was Kon-El.
