I might be the only person in my guild who reads about the game outside of the game. There is a person in my guild who claims you need a level 55 character who you then turn into a Death Knight. And when I told him that you didn't have to turn any character into a Death Knight his reply was "But I talked to a GM and they know things."
I would be fine with him believing that, if he wasn't convincing other people in the guild of the same thing.

I have a guy in my guild who thinks Priests shouldn't have Psychic Scream if they're Holy specced.
There might be better, but this one screams tanking to me.

Also, I have a question on grip. I'm on a pve server and was wondering if it works in pvp.
I kind of have a fascination with the concept of something like a DK/DK/rogue (Or DK) 3s team... where you chain grip a squishie out of LoS and molest it.
My two DK guildies we're doing pretty good in 2v2s. Improved Rune Tap and the glyph helps heal your partner, the two silences also help with a big help from the Strangulate glyph which increases its range and lastly Death and Decay with its respective glyph has a chance to fear for 2 seconds. In the end they were putting out some decent CC but some great damage to back it up.
It must be a pain to use Blink only to be brought back a few yards.

Did somebody fuck up the itemization on the Blade of Misfortune or something?
Yes. BoM has been overbudget since January 2007. More people are probably realizing this now with all the DK twink preparation and comparisons to the Hellreaver.
There are quite a few items with screwed up itemization in TBC that have gone untouched since release. I hope WotLK will be better about that, but I'm not holding my breath.
I have a blade of misfortune in my bank for my DK when live hits. It looks like a pretty awesome DK weapon at level 60. Am I wrong in thinking this?
My understanding is that any class that can use a Blade of Misfortune would love it.
Terrible hunter weapon. Also, there's an epic sword in Heroic BM that's pretty superawesome. I intend to get one on my Paladin when I hit 70.
Actually, it isn't really a terrible hunter weapon. The 29 strength is obviously wasted, sure, but the overbudget +3% crit still makes it a decent weapon.
Now the Hellreaver is a pretty terrible hunter weapon, and I see them with it all the time. The fucking Rage Reaver is a better choice than Hellreaver.

True. Since it's overbudget, it's okay, I suppose. Fortunately, it's level 60, and will be outgrown quickly. Why anyone would consider spending 150g on a weapon for leveling is beyond me.
Because, for some people, leveling yet another character is like being kicked in the dickballstomach, and getting through it as quickly as possible is worth a high price.
And some other people just spend any gold they ever have on anything that strikes their fancy.

That's me. I blow so much gold on the AH for stupid bullshit stuff. I'd have an epic flyer 5x over if I wasn't such a dipshit when it came to the AH.

I dunno I looked around and I couldn't find another outlands weapon to replace it with until after I was mostly done with Nagrand. Considering the leveling has been sped up from 60-70 I'm expecting to hit 68 in terokkar and then just skip the rest of the outlands garbage and head to Northrend and replace it with some quest item I get there. If I have a full group and its not camped by tools (which it usually is) I plan to maybe do ring of blood and pickup the axe but thats about it.
100g for not worrying about a weapon from 60-70 sounded like a good tradeoff for me.
The itemization isn't messed up. The BoM is better than the hellreaver because its a rare random world drop while the hellreaver has like a 1 in 6 chance to drop.
If your faction has Halaa, the overpowered level 66 green two-handed sword you can buy there will be a nice option for going from 66 to 68. I know it's called the Arcadian Claymore for one faction.

It appears you have much to learn about itemization and the item budget, my son.

It doesn't look very...clean. I dunno, I can see where you're coming from but 3 partially filled talents doesn't look good to me.
Especially death rune mastery, 66% chance? That's just awkward, you don't want to be at the whim of the RNG. It's something you either want to happen or not. If you know everytime you use X then Y happens you can plan around it, work it into a rotation to optimise your output. But if you're never sure then you probably aren't getting the benefit from it that you should.
Still, it looks pretty good. You do know that black ice only affects frost now though right?
I'm still trying to finalise my frost tank spec, I just need to decide what would be a bigger dps increase, killing machine, bladed armour or 2h spec + something else, probably taking a point out of merciless combat if I go for one of the 5 pointers.

Not taking Frost Aura is a bad idea, it's 80 resistance for you and everyone in your party, Frost Aura, Acclimation and Mark of the Wild all stack giving you 305 Resist all when acclimation is fully up. It's around a 50% magic dmg reduction vs an element when Acclimation stacks, and it stacks really fast against most caster bosses. I really don't feel like 10 yards on touch/chains/howling blast is very useful.
I haven't taken it because I don't know what it does. The tooltip is still bugged for me, it just says 0 spell resistance at all ranks, and before then it said 1/2 spell resistance.
If that's the case then i'd definitely swap it out for icy reach, 10 yards is pretty great (especially for howling blast) but I am still a melee class after all.

It doesn't increase the actual AoE of Howling Blast, when you cast it it's an AoE based 10 yards around the target you cast it on, while tanking nothing is really ever going to be that far away anyway, I never had an instance tanking as Frost where I needed to AoE something 30 yards away instead of 20. The only time you need the range is on a pull and there's Death Grip etc. for that.
Still trying to decide where to put those last 3 points.
And Endless Winter might be movable, but an on demand interrupt and a snare that aplies Frost Fever seems very useful to me, especially for the occasional bout of PvP.

Vampiric Blood is well worth it, though, your death strike heals for a huge amount with it up, your mark of blood, a healer can take you from 30% to 100% with a flash heal. It's worth the 1 pt it's got a huge duration.

I dunno, I'm personally a fan of Killing Machine (DK crits are HUGE and any time you can guarantee a Howling Blast crit it's good) and I have a hard time spending Runic Power, so you might be better off with Bladed Armor than Scent of Blood. It looks pretty good but a lot of DK talents are up in the air for you to decide depending on a few factors.
Interesting bug, if you tell your pet Ghoul to leap at a flight master it will, and then it either spawns the pets to defend it but does nothing, or it attacks your ghoul and kills it and then goes after you.

DKs can use maces too.
The best 2h tanking weapon appears to be a trash mace from 25-man naxx

It seems to me like it'd be really fun for tanking as well as damage and even some pvp.
I have corpse dust, I cast living dead or whatever that is to summon a ghoul... and he's instantly dead on the ground.
I assume I'm missing something. I even tried coaxing him into life with a ravager dog and a mug of the dark iron ale.
You're doing it right. It's just that's a bug whats killing the ghoul. Blizzard already knows about it and are working on it.
How come it's working for others? Do you have to have the unholy talents?
Yeah, the Unholy talent that makes the ghoul permanent works fine. Everybody else is boned for the meantime though.
Also, I have a question on grip. I'm on a pve server and was wondering if it works in pvp.

I decided to go train mace on my DK on Beta, turns out it starts at 1 so even DKs can suffer through weapon leveling.

man vampiric blood is so awesome, take that already. I say this as a healer who hates healing dps.

Blood worms and blood aura should fix that.

Heh, if you really like that role you might try to fit Rune Tap with the glyph in there somewhere.
