Who are Mocha and Kerry? You're Dady? Nice beard.

Haha, there's actually another door about 2 meters to the right, out of frame. No idea what was going on in the head of who ever designed this place.

    Hi5

How much RAM and HDD did you get?

I ended up ordering mine with 2GB of ram and then throwing 4GB in there later on from Crucial.

    So 3.06Ghz C2D, 512MB 8800GTS, 4GB of 800mhz ram (May go up to 1066 later), 1TB HDD.

Should last me 7 or 8 years.

Yeah, I just stuck with the 2 GB going 4 GB from apple is too expensive so I'll upgrade later. I didn't go for the 1 TB hard drive either I thought they wanted too much for that option as well I just add external drives as needed.

These Macs stay useful for a LONG time, that G4 cube over there is running Tiger on 1.25 GB of ram, 120gb 7200 RPM hard drive with 8mb cache, and an 800mhz CPU upgrade and it runs nice and snappy. There is your 8 years right there, and it's still going.

Ok so I can't recommend the Western Digital Eco-Drive 1TB internal SATAs enough.

After getting totally screwed on my 750gb drives (incompatible firmware and Seagate not caring) I bought just one of the Eco-Drives to try it... three more followed and four more on the way.

These things totally rock past spec in a Mac Pro (Right now in my first gen dual dual core 2ghz) and actually beats the xbench score compared to running a first gen raptor.

Apparently the just released NEW eco-drives are even better!

Speaking of sweet rigs, I was at my parents' house the other day and they were trying to get me to fix their computer, because the "internet went really slow." Usually they use another one, but it got a virus and they were using this one as a backup. I copied the relevant parts of DXDIAG:

    System Information
Time of this report: 10/7/2008, 16:57:38
    Machine name: CG363509-A
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98 (4.10, Build 1998)
    Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
    System Manufacturer:
    System Model:
    BIOS: Rev. 1.0
Processor: Intel Pentium II, MMX, ~307MHz
    Memory: 96MB RAM
Page File: 87MB used, 1864MB available
    DirectX Version: DirectX 8.0 (4.08.00.0400)
    DX Setup Parameters: Not found
    DxDiag Version: 4.08.00.0400

And they wondered why it went so slow.

Fuck, you can get Firefox to eat up 200-300 megs without trying.

The Behemoth store, they have a bundle deal where you get four of the knights for the price of three. They're a little pricey but I felt like my desk needed some character. Here. They're out of stock right now, though. The other two you can see in the first pic hidden on the corners of my desk.

It's a little weird but I find it very comfortable to have my keyboard on my lap, my laptop about 3-4 feet away from me, but my mouse about 2 feet from me. Yes, getting hold of the mouse is an effort but I'm a keyboard specialist anyways, so I only use it when necessary.

Is this really weird or do some others feel the same?

I used to have nothing but a cheap little board desk, one hundred percent of which was dominated by the 15" CRT monitor that was there. The only room for the keyboard was on my lap at the time. There was just enough desk room for the mouse/pad.

Almost the exact same situation, distance-wise. But no, it was not fun.

So I totally need a new chair and I remember seeing one a while back that looked pretty sweet. Anyone have some suggestions? Also I don't mind spending a couple hundred (or more) on a really nice chair since I spend a lot of time at my computer

I thought I remembered seeing a nice one earlier in this thread but I couldn't find it to ask what/where it came from.
