I have no idea why I joined originally, I think it was just because I wanted to get away from the Megatokyo forums and my other forum had like one post per day on it, usually by me. This seemed like a welcome escape.
also Nads, I joined right at the height of that time of the "where's nads" ridiculousness.
Every time I look at your name I wince a little bit as I remember how idiotic the forum was back then about people who left for a while

i first came to the pa message board in late 2000. I was like 16. This was back before there was user registration, you just typed in a name and posted. I came here because gabe mentioned the forums in a newspost, and that he sometimes posted there, and i was a gabe superfan.
Whoa whoa whoa, were you the same Spooky as the one that was always on the PAcam site? With that caoine.org chick and a bunch of others?

he didn't "leave for a while"
he was the person with the second highest postcount, who just up and disappeared, and didn't tell anyone where he was going. He literally just stopped posting one day.
And he was a minor at the time, so nobody had a way to track him down.
So we were all like... worried that he died and stuff.

People checked the obituaries. I will never let them live that shit down.
It was also suggested that you had been kidnapped.
Seriosuly though, because of that event i've always been willing to give out my cell number to friends on the internet just in case i have an unexpected drop from the internet and people feel the need to check in.
My friend pointed me out to the webcomic. I found myself in the pit of hate soon after that. Back then Gabe and Tycho actually took part in the forums organizing Soldier of Fortune games. Good times.

Yeah.
Holy crap, I remember you now. Been a while, if you remember "Jitz" yeah. That was me.

Uh, you had a massive "Nads is Missing" sig featuring that guy from Chrono Trigger. It had the quote "I will endeavour to find Nads."
You can't call things ridiculous when you were probably the one that was most ridiculous.

The one about the fucking space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin

I never really understood the whole concept. I mean, someone leaves and I don't bother looking for them unless they want to be found. Were you their dealer or something?

You have to also understand that the size of the community was drastically reduced in those days. We didn't have near the volume of users.
Not only that, he was one of the most frequent posters. So his absence stuck out.
And i also think that some people who were closer to him said he had been depressed or whatever. But that was just speculation if i recall correctly. (I think nads was depressed vs nads said he was depressed)

Hahahaha dude I know, I'm not denying I was totally in on it. I actually just spent like 5 minutes looking for that thing on my computer before I saw your post. It's just hilarious to me now.
And to be fair it was "travel" to find him. Travel.
life is like that, you ever work in a place with loads of employees, you never notice anyone leave, but sometimes you'll see one of them and go "holy shit that guy"
my "My Pictures" folder has 5 years worth of images I've made about these forums and elsewhere. Every once in a while I'll scroll through it just to remember all the stuff that's happened over the years.

It was good to see that he was not.

Looking back on it, it was dumb as hell, there were people who joined like months after you had "disappeared" that had sigs about you.
But at the time it just seemed so important!
I was 13 years old at the time, I dunno what excuse the rest of the forum has.
Yeah.
-Mikal-
I've never actually owned a webcam.
Good times.
hahahaha
sorry Nads I'd imagine it's irritating for this stuff to be brought up

it's weird
I drew this army of the dead picture for some MSpaint battle and was like "har har motherfuckers I'm gonna kill you with my army of the dead!"
And then I was like "uh... <poke poke> anybody got hosting I could upload it to?" and they were all "get a photobucket you lazy cockbag"
So I did.
Oldest thing on my photobucket right next to my old stalin avatar.
that's some mad MS paint skills.
-Mikal-
I accidentally deleted a bunch of stuff though
this is the oldest MSPaint picture that I've got
NSFW
Oh shit....

I used to link from a Geocities account where all the pictures had been renamed as .txt files.
I still have all those old .txt photos in my Shit folder.
oh man i remember that trick!
-Mikal-
Now you rule the ruins of Flying Stove like a post-apocalyptic gang majordomo.
Oldschool, man.
I really didn't have any reason to switch to photobucket, except the new boards didn't allow remote linked avatars to end in .txt.
too soon
it was chock full of people i thought i liked but would turn on me on the smallest thing
jesus fuck
cattier than the D&D chat thread
So much calling out, I loved it.
Tumblr
Shit, I remember that. And then we had to switch over to geocities.co.uk because it did work.
RIP FS as I knew it (like what two years ago)
Deusfaux made a thread about me in there once.
Having your own hosting is good for random things, but man I did not want to upload that.
