So, I got a call from the Gamestop where I pre-ordered the CE. They told me they had received the pre-order boxes and mine were waiting. But I already got my little CE pre-order sheet. So, I went to the store and they handed me 2 pre-order boxes, each with the TCG and an SE pre-order sheet. So, best of both worlds?
I never preorder a game, it is almost always pointless because I have never had trouble getting a game without a preorder. That includes GTA4, Halo 2 and Halo 3. Oh well maybe I can pirate the game when it comes out, and play on a private server, because I am sure that will happen before a trial comes out.
Are you seriously upset because Mythic is rewarding their pre-order customers? You're saying you won't buy the game unless you can play a trial first, but then you rag on suggestions that you use a pre-order as a method of trial. Putting $5 down on the SE Pre-order just for the Open Beta code isn't a viable option for you? If you hate the game, transfer the $5 to another title you want to buy.
Kind of reminds me of my friend who is all up-in-arms about the CE's getting in-game content that no-one else will ever be able to get. I tried talking to him about all other MMO's that have done things like this (as well as other genres which have done it worse. Battlefield I'm looking at you!), but he didn't listen. I didn't even try to tell him about all the Con's he would have to go to to get everything ever disigned for an MMO. But, in the end I think all hes saying is: "Wahhhh why didnt I order the CE when I had the chance. Wahhhhh!!"
At the risk of bad forum form bringing back a post that's already more than a page old (I hate doing this), wtf? The original idea he expressed had nothing to do with "why didn't I order the CE?" It was "I want to make sure this runs on my system before I make a sizeable financial outlay." Which is a reasonable point; even if your system meets the system specs outlined by the developers it's nearly impossible to test every possible combination of hardware components and drivers. Some people exceed the recommended specs for Age of Conan and still experience memory leaks. Some people are hovering around the minimum system specs and yet report no problems at all.
Suggesting piracy--even as a hyperbole--wasn't particularly necessary, and a $5 outlay at Gamestop so you can pre-test and then decide simply not to go pick up to final product if you decide you don't like it isn't terribly unreasonable (PLEASE NOTE: I know someone who did this for a different game and he can't preorder at that Gamestop anymore, so don't do this if you live in a town with only one Gamestop) but I have to ask, since when is a consumer wanting to make an informed decision considered "whining?"

There are a lot of people who won't want to play WAR for very valid reasons. Without any knowledge beyond what is publicly available, I wouldn't assume Mythic has been vague or not-descriptive with anything about WAR. It will likely be exactly as described.
Many may confuse "I don't like" with "It is bad". Also "It is great" won't mean that it is for everyone.

Honestly, I'm old school. If I get even two months of enjoyment out of a game, I feel like it was a good purchase. The dollar value dwarfs all my other hobbies that barely give me 2-3 hours of enjoyment when doing them.
So the question is, for 60 + 15 (game price and one month of subscription) can I some fun to last me a couple of months?
