    No.

Simple steps for getting a critical finisher:
    1) Attack them while they're blocking until their bar flashes red. This signifies that their guard is almost broken.
    2) Keep attacking while they're blocking, until their guard breaks. This is signified by a red flash of electricity and a special stun animation where they are reeling backwards, usually accompanied by an armor break. The armor break is NOT a requirement.
    3) Immediately press all four buttons (A+B+K+G) while they are reeling.

Frikkin' strong. 236B is very intact.

She also has some strong 4BB string that I won't go into detail about.

For the record, I assume A is horizontal attack and B is vertical attack? My friends and I call them vertical and horizontal, and I haven't checked a movelist since the first Soul Calibur.

Is there a hand sized hammer weapon for any of the custom characters?

I made a Thor character, who is really awesome, but Rock's huge hammer doesn't really fit in with Norse legend.

So stupid question: What's the significance of breaking armor if it's not for critical finishers? Do you deal more damage to exposed areas when you knock off armor? Does something happen when you knock off all 3 pieces?

    Armor break pros and cons!

Pros: You deal more damage to exposed areas. High attacks do more damage after a high break, mid after a mid break, low after a low break. Between 6-11% more I'd say.

Cons: If you break their armor during a string of combo attacks, THEY CAN BLOCK AFTERWARDS EVEN DURING THE STRING. So your "guaranteed" combo won't be guaranteed if their armor breaks in between.

Interesting. I'd say that's fair, though, otherwise the increased damage from the guaranteed combo might result in a guaranteed win. It gives the alert player a chance to recover without getting completely owned.

BlueDouble here. I'm trying out Hilde, she seems pretty fun to use. Some close range twirly and long range pokey.

When I found out you can charge attacks I flipped.

Also she loses her armor like Arthur in Ghouls and Ghosts.
I know everybody loses their armor if hit enough but just let me have this okay ?

The weird thing is any outfit can be broken. And I saw a dude who made the Hulk. I'll just say a thonged Hulk is not a pretty sight. But that brings us to the big question: What happens to Ivy's "armor"?

Her actual outfit is underwear. She has some small armor but it's not noticeable what with the gazongas and all. I've broken chest and head armor on her and there's no cosmetic difference. Her 2p outfit has tones of breakage though.

I just had a thought for someone that should be very easy to make in the character creator, yet incredibly awesome at that same time and will be one of the first things I do once the appropriate clothes are unlocked (if they aren't from the beginning). That man is...

    The Dread Pirate Roberts

If someone with the game now gets to it before I can, please post a shot. Hopefully the character creator gives enough space for the long name.

Edit: Also on the list if possible would be Inigo Montoya.

Did this the other day. The name was too long and only showed up as "Dread Pirate" so I went with "Wesley". Unfortunately, I don't have any way of taking a screenshot. He turned out okay as a clone of Rapheal with the exception of biting the opponent's neck for a critical finish but there aren't usually many chances of that happening.

Everyone's slower. SC3 was very fast, and I loved the speed.

I think characters hurt hardest by this are those like Taki, who rely on speed.

Or maybe I'm just saying this because I <3 Taki, and am a bit disappointed after my first few hours with her in SC4. Lots of changes that I don't understand. Why oh *why* does she have zero low attacks out of Possession "stance"? Completely ends the high/low mindgames Possession lead to. I could go on but I'll shut up for the mo'

Sorry about my earlier false info with Critical Finishes. I usually break 2 pieces of armor before I get to the flashing Soul Gauge and the third one usually breaks upon guard break, so uh, my bad.

I'd really like to get good at this, I've only just been okay at SCII and I didn't play much of III. I see lots of practice in my future. (Well, until SF4 comes out or the SF3 bug bites me again.)

Light attacks take forever to break a guard.

Try heavier attacks, or you could even break their guard by GUARD IMPACTING them.

When flashing red, a vulnerable opponent can be Soul Crush'd by a simple B attack from Astaroth or Nightmare. However, Xianghua, Talim, etc. need to use something with a little more bite. Then, once the super-stun from the final guard break happens, you hit the Critical Finisher.
