I'm moving into my first home this week. I'm really excited. I've never actually owned a place to live before now. My Dad and I have been working this past week to get the hardwood floors refinished (they look great). Anyhow, it's nearly ready to be moved into.
But, I still haven't hooked up any internet or TV. My brother has this thing called uVerse, which is AT&T's TV/internet service and he seems to be happy with it. It's much cheaper than Comcast (my other option), however the internet connection isn't as fast, but the basic TV package for uVerse is like 200 channels. Also, uVerse is like $20 cheaper than Comcast in Indy.
I actually got fliers all over about this. I nearly went to it. Except. The one thing I don't dig on it is that you can only watch one HD channel at a time throughout the house. That was a dealbreaker for me. But other than that, I do actually like my Tivo, but with all the cablecard drama I'm almost ready to drop it in favor of a halfway decent cable DVR.
I didn't see any other negatives for this service, but I also don't have any hands on experience.
If I'm reading that correctly that's 29 megabits you're getting just to watch TV. I know that's over a close private network and not the internet, but still.
Yes, i heard they were adding that capability. It sounds like it will be a good service. I do wish they had elected to simply roll the fiber all the way to the house though. I hope that if uVerse does well, they will expand it from the node out.
