Computer troubles

OK, so I am building a new computer for the first time, everything seems to be going well, I finally turn it on and it seems to be working when I turn it on, LEDs up front turn on, fans spin, all that good stuff. However the monitor is not receiving any input. Additionally the keyboard also does not light up at all when I press caps lock or anything else. It will turn on, off, and reset when I push those buttons fine, but nothing I do seems to get it to connect to the monitor. I have checked that the monitor is plugged in right and it is plugged into the video card. The monitor is a ASUS VW193D 19in, the video card is a Radeon 4850 and the mother board is an Asus P5K DELUXE.

You probably have something unpowered. Check that the PCI-E plug is plugged into your video card, check that the motherboard 12 volt connectors are all plugged in, check that you didn't plug the pci-e connector for your video card into your motherboard.

yea, definitely sounds like a power issue. make sure 6-pin power connector to Video card and the 4(or 8 pin) power to motherboard is plugged in.

Also make sure that you're using the primary DVI output... I googled the card, and it seems to have dual DVI... one may be disabled by default

Do you have the case speaker hooked up to the motherboard? If so, it should give you a code of various beeps if it detects anything wrong...

Another vote for double checking all your corded connections. You should be hearing something from the case speaker to let you know what's going on.
