My Firefox decided to stop playing mp3's in the browser, so when I wanted to hear this again I had to copy it into Windows Media Player manually. Fucking New Line ruined their chance to make a good movie out of that book.
no kidding.
i didn't read the book, but having watched it (due to the stepdaughter wanting to) i can say that it suuuuuuuuuuuuucked
It wasn't completely terrible; The casting was fantastic, and Ian McKellen was pretty badass as Iorek. What brought it down was how they tried cramming so much from the book into it, and the movie didn't dwell on any point long enough to have any idea what the fuck was going on.
And then they cut off the ending, which was the only part in the film that gave any indication where the fucking story was supposed to go, just so Daniel Craig would get more screentime in the next film.

it certianly felt rushed, and a lot didnt make sense

Considering that FOX (I think it was) bought the rights to some series of books that HASN'T EVEN HAD THE FIRST ONE PUBLISHED YET, I think we're going to see a lot of attempted cash-ins on the Harry Potter fame for a while yet.
On the plus side, it means that I've got my financial future pretty much set in stone if I can throw together enough fantasy bullshit to get a contract.
The whole reason people go to movies based on books is because the books are usually very good and entertaining, not just the newest thing.
I'm looking at you, Eragon.
Look I don't really care if people go and see the movies based on my books.
So long as FOX pays me several million dollars for the right to make movies based on my books.
If I learned that, ten years from now, I sold the rights to my comic to have some horrible movie made that trampled all over the original material, I'd hang myself.

Well, if I were selling the movie rights to FOX without any kind of contractual obligations for me to be given some kind of veto over a lot of what was going on, it would be far from my best work and more or less made specifically with the intent of selling to FOX.

I had this hentai comic about a little Japanese dude who lived with some kind of sex ninja, and the sex ninja had sex with him, and then she brought over a friend and then they both had sex with the little Japanese dude.

Aha!
A dashing rebuttal!
I just finished off a Fin du Monde and a couple of bottles of St. Ambroise.

One of a lot of things that got overblown or toned down because they wanted it to be like Harry Potter.
