Hey guys, episodic gaming is starting to pick up and it's pretty rad.
Of course we all know our very own Penny Arcade put out the first episode of their new series,
On The Rainslick Precipice Of Darkness, a couple of months ago, but did you know that Telltale (the guys who have done two seasons of Sam and Max) are doing:
a Strong Bad game
and a Wallace and Grommit game
? I bet you didn't!
Did you know that Ron Gilbert (he helped make Monkey Island and worked on Rainslick Precipice) is working on a new episodic game called DEATH SPANK? (in collaboration with Hothead, who also made Rainslick Precipice)
And did you know that just minutes ago, the first episode of American McGee's Grimm, a series of episodic games based around Grimm's fairy tales, was released for free for a limited time only?
Oh, you did? Never mind then.
Posts
it was supposed to be out in June, then July, now ??
And I keep trying to get this first episode of Grimm, but my download keeps stopping, damn Firefox. I wish Gametap would just put up a torrent or something.
also i eat breakfast at my computer anyway. those rss feeds won't read themselves!

woooo
We'd better get the scientists working on episodic games for handhelds then, post haste!
Well, I guess most handheld games are made for playing in short bursts anyway
well yes, bringing a ds or psp to the pooper is where its at. but the first thing in the morning, i just like to sit there and concentrate, just me and my sphincter
When it's done right it's worth it I think, I only paid $30 for each season of Sam & Max, and that was definitely worth it
Well, I haven't played Season 2 yet, but my free DVDs are on the way so I'm going to wait for them to show up
So Telltale know what they're doing, but nobody else has proven themselves yet
But Half Life 2 and Sin nearly screwed it up for everybody I think, seeing as they fucked it up completely
i already tend to sit on the throne way too long when im reading something
getting a ds this weekend
time to move all my stuff into the bathroom
Well, they submitted it to nintendo for testing and stuff, so they're done with their end of the deal.
it's all up to nintendo now, so my guess is we'll get it either this monday or next monday
I do this a lot and it's kind of breaking the game since my "main" party is nearly level 40 but all the enemies i fight are only like 31 at the highest. Maybe i need to dump off some of the lesser used dudes from my party
Oh shit, I know that feeling. When I was at my old dead-end job, I would sneak my DS into the toilet and play Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I'd lose track of time and have to subtly hobble back to my desk because my foot was asleep.
Chariot of the Dogs was absolutely the high point of the entire series. Extremely funny, and with some of the cleverest puzzles I've seen in an adventure game.
This is the problem with games coming out on Wii and XBLA, it slows down the release of the PC versions
I'm still waiting for World Of Goo to come out, I preordered it in January when it was due in Feb, but since they announced it was coming to Wii as well, they haven't released a new date.
Oh cool, I'm looking forward to playing it even more now. High praise coming from you Pooro.
I kind of got burnt out after the first series so I haven't gone back to it, it took me forever to beat the last episode of Season 1 because I never felt like playing it.
Edit: Oh hey, Grimm finished downloading, time to try it out
FAT PRINCESS
everything about it looks amazing
(i need to play the new sam & max games)
Season 2 is much better than Season 1. There's no reliance on hilarious, zany Bosco inventions and the usual formula of "collect three things to solve the puzzle" is wiped out.
As Pooro said, Chariot of the Dogs is fantastic.
Death Spank is apparently a hybrid of adventure game and Diablo-style RPG. Strange mix, but I'm sure he can make it work.
no games though, it's sorta useless
but yeah
The premise is kind of cool, you watch Grimm tell a little light hearted fairy tale, and then he tells you why it's crap and you proceed through 6 levels of turning everything stinky. Then you get the same fairy tale but in a darker way.
I like the art style and the voice acting was pretty decent, the humour was OK but not laugh out loud funny.
The gameplay itself was kind of fun but I can't see myself doing that once a week just to see the different stories/environments if there is no change in the gameplay.
Also for a fairly low-poly flat textured game, it ran like shit on my machine which doesn't have trouble with most new games coming out, which was disappointing. I had to turn some of the effects off to get a decent framerate.
Anyone else play it?
hey, since you live in ny, you can probably find random people to pictochat with
and send them dongs
i'm not a pedo
