The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So the demo of EA's new cartoon-styled boxing game, FaceBreaker is up on the Live Marketplace (don't know if it's on PSN or not, can anyone confirm?) and while I've not been able to try it out yet, I'm really keen to see how it plays. I remember sinking a lot of hours into Ready 2 Rumble all those years ago, and if it's anything like that, I'll be sold. Anyone tried it yet and got an opinion?
I also promise to prettify this OP when I get home from work.
You forgot to mention that you can take a picture of your face with a USB camera and make a character with it. I'm not too interested in the game, but I'm currently waiting for the demo to generate my mother.
This game is not good. It's got a pretty simplistic combat system, with high/low punches, throws, and parry capabilities.
You have two punches. Total. In a boxing game.
Sure, you can build up your punches to get better "breaker" moves, but against any reasonable opponent you're just going to have to fire off your level one/two breakers continuously. The chances of getting off the Facebreaker, your full-meter move, are next to zero. Even when you do, it's just one move. No variety of different Facebreakers for different characters, it seems.
Should have been an XBLA title.

The fat guy in that screenshot reminds me of the Heavy from TF2. But like, without Sasha.
I tried this out, and it seemed like it had about half of the fighting mechanics necessary for a really solid game. The back and forth of dodging and parrying was a neat idea, but the rest of the time it's just "Pound the buttons really fast and punch the guy with the same two punches over and over." With a few more actual game mechanics this might be good.
I also thought it looked really nice, but that's not enough to save it.
They should never have released this demo right around the time of Soul Calibur IV.

I'll check the PSN store to see if the demo is up there once my system update is finished.
Edit: This demo is also available on the PSN. It's a 952 MB download.
Oh well, still looks neat, I'll have to look into the demo later.

There's a Wii version in development called FaceBreaker K.O. Party.
Nice!

This.
I hesitate to post again in this thread to keep it around, but I feel so strongly that this game is a steaming pile of crap that I just have to.
Fight Night 4 is due next year. But will probably be a steaming pile considering the original team is all but gone.
I downloaded a demo of a wrestling game and it had more depth then this shit.
But gave a half-ass effort content wise.
No thanks.
