Assuming you have to pick one and pretend no other racing games exist, which is the best option for me and my xbox 360?

Need for Speed: Pro Street
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Need for Speed: Carbon

All three are fairly cheap nowadays, with Carbon being $10 cheaper than the other two.

This will be used for mostly single player. I have not been keeping up with this series so I'm ignorant of which of the three is best.

Most Wanted. That's the one you want, really.

Carbon is a distant second, if it's cheap and you end up liking Wanted a whole bunch.

I can't speak to any of the title listed, but I can say 1) I hated Underground and 2) Most Wanted was a blast.

I've heard Pro Street is pretty bad, so I'd drop that off your list.

Most Wanted by far. Carbon was a faded copy largely unbalanced unless you followed a specific tree, and Pro Street was so much less.

Most Wanted was a fun and good game, but I don't think you should aim to beat it. Some of the objectives were just stupid and plain not fun... Mostly objectives like "Get into a 30min cop chase, and then escape." :|

Prostreet is genuinely fun though. Try out the demo. It is a bit more realistic and they dropped the whole 'underground, olol' theme but it's really a blast to go thru the Nevada desert in a '70 Cuda and slowly drift off the track, hit a bump, and go flying wildly about. I seriously recommend you try the demo.

Yeah I didn't think of demos. Ok, thanks. I will try the demo of ProStreet, and look into buying Most Wanted as I just found it on Amazon for like $17 new.

Try the demo of Most Wanted too. What I like a whole lot about MW is that it's pretty much a really good, modern day Hot Pursuit. Prostreet, to me, is a poopy PGR wannabe.

Mind you, Most Wanted is DRASTICALLY different from Prostreet. Playing one for a few hours, and then going to another is a good way to really screw with your head. Prostreet is a lot more physical and requires more 3 demensional thinking and planning, (Like where in the road you should be at what speed and how hard you should break to stay on the road) vs. the more comical and 'lol driiiift' style of gameplay from Most Wanted.

Again, Most wanted is a great game, but I think Prostreet just has more to it, even if it does recycle a few maps, it just feels a lot more of a complete package than MW.

Yes it was. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO good. I loved being a cop and raping people in the ass.

Just reminded me though that the High Stakes intro was one of the best game intros. Game wasn't as good as HP tho.

Most Wanted, if for nothing else because you don't have to rice out your car with neons and goofy decals to progress in the game.
