Who the hell is Goose? I seem to remember a goose, he bitched a lot and frequently rage quit. My counter argument is:
TF2 is fun not serious business. I don't think TF2 was designed for competitive play I think it was designed to be fun to play.
From Wikipedia:
Goose (plural: geese) is the English name for a considerable number of birds, belonging to the familyAnatidae. This family also includes swans, most of which are larger than geese, and ducks, which are smaller.
This article deals with the true geese in the subfamilyAnserinae, tribeAnserini.
A number of other waterbirds, mainly related to the shelducks, have "goose" as part of their name.

Valve's reliance on 12v12 format
First, let's take a look at competitions. A lot of competitions are undertaken with CEVO rules in mind (6v6, maximum of one demoman/medic and two of everything else or 8v8, max of 2 per class). Valve has designed large maps with several entry points and choke points, designed for a 12v12 format where there's a multitude of sentry placements and places to cover. While large games in TF2 make it entirely more fun, the competetive side suffers.
Gee duh moron maybe you should just man up and learn to organise 12 vs 12 instead of taking a game not designed for 6vs6 and then whining when it's not.
The competitive side is, basically, narrowminded. There's no reason you can't have a competitive 12 vs 12 other than fear of difficulty organising. Which doesn't sound very competitive, to me. Isn't competitive supposed to be about getting better at something? So get better at organising 12 man teams ffs.
This is not a hard idea to think about.
Rest of his post is invalid because he bases it all off the "competitive means 6 or 9 only" assumption. I don't care about cal or cevo rules or whatever, make your own damn competition. It's a game not a sport.
Jesus I need a coffee that link made me facepalm too much for too early in the morning.

Final Destination was clearly not designed with 12v12 in mind.
i match every week and scrim 2-3 times a week, and i've never had a draw
any team worth their salt also knows that you give up A always on gravelpit, and defend B/C, using a demoman to block off the entrances to B from C with stickies, thus making the only feasible way to go: from their spawn to B, so you only have two entrances to worry about.
anyways, the dude that wrote that article has no idea what he's talking about

If anyone on East3 is organizing the team or scrims tomorrow or Saturday, PM me on the site as I won't be using my gaming PC otherwise and my laptop doesn't have Steam.
So, I can make the Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday games, but I can't make it on Friday. If we get into a tie breaker, can I find a spy to take my place?
Edit: Also, I don't feel like there's any particular way to do tournaments. 6 vs 6 TF2 is just as much TF2 as 12 vs 12 TF2. It's just a different kind. I've never played it before, but as I understand it, it takes a much different way of thinking.

I'm curious.
Would this statement be the same as saying instant respawn 32 man TF2 is the same as PA server TF2?
It's not the same, but it's not an invalid way to play. If you want to play TF2 as a deathmatch or a sniperfest or a SERIOUS BUSINESS match then there are servers out there for you. You're still playing TF2, even if it doesn't appeal to everyone.
Also Quaz ur terrible, but I suppose it's unavoidable. Just hope your team either steamrolls or fails miserably.

Yeah, exactly. 32 instant spawn dustbowl only demos only tourney is still a tourney.
If a bunch of people like 6 vs 6, then fine, I don't have to play.

can you guys let us win, because my girlfriend is visiting that weekend, and she can watch me play. . .. actually, yeah, no - don't do that.
What don't look at me like that you know it's true.
It has to be the greatest name.

TF2 is TF2 when it's 12 v 12, with no limits or restrictions on anything.

Fine, I guess we have to steamroll now guyz.
Screw that I refuse to let Iowa win even if it leads to my downfall.
And it was a rhetorical question anyway.
