PHOTO THREAD v. 2.15769302

Sheri: I like that one a lot. Nice comp and all that jazz. I would have named the thread "PHOTOGENOCIDE".
Smrt Hero: The photo seems to lack some punch. I personally don't feel like there's enough contrast between the subject/ground. Then again, I've been blowing out highlights left and right lately, so don't take my word for it.
It might also have somthing to do with the "divided" image, with a lot of blossoms on the right and nothing on the left. It feels unbalanced. I guess this a totally unrelated complaint.
Is there any chance you have a larger res version of this? It's stunning and I would cherish it as a desktop! 1600x1200 would be ideal, but whatever you have is fine.
I'm reading a book on taking better photos, and this is a way better example of movement from the foreground to the background than the one in the book. That's rad!

Shake, that last one reminds me of this photo I took yesterday at the Pita Pit, but it was after I'd already eaten half of the pita. I was just messing around, took the photo, then looked at it and went, 'Man, that is unappetizing.'
It's not that yours looks unappetizing, it just reminded me cuz it was food. XD
Sheri: It's nice to know I can bring out all these bad memories for you. If you thing partially eaten food looks unappetizing, just imagine partially digested food.
About those two portraits. I like the cropping/values/expressions in both of them. Are you focusing manually? If you're using a D50/D70 (which I think you are), manual focus can be damn tricky. That viewfinder is so small and my eyes are starting to go. I'm forced to trust the autofocus because my eyes can't get the job done. ONce I scrounge together some money I'm thinking about buying that new D80 just for the larger viewfinder.
Pope: That's cuz I do everything better than books. I'm perfect like that.
"Dood, do you know shake?"
"Yeah, he smarter than BOOKS!"
I overhear conversations like that every day.
JRosey: Your second shot is really nice. In some (good) ways, it reminds me of a mid-90's Nine Inch Nails video.
Your signature looks like a bird pooped on your border.

Blasphemer, I'm a Canon user. D60.
Also, yes, I am focusing manually, which is why I miss so often. I figure it's better to practice and get it wrong than to depend on autofocus all the time.
Lemme check under my avatar .... "Available to help others?" .... Nope! It's not there!!
:P
It's a recurring them in my life. I am retty much a dum-dum. Then I get a little interested in something and somehow convince everyone else I know something about it. Then I invariably disappoint them and it often results in a kick to the nuts.
Yeah, I would turn down the saturation on a few of those, especially the second shot. I like the black and white one, though I'd prefer it without the people in the top-right.
Went rumaging through my hard drive this morning and found this shot of Trunk Bay in St. John from a cruise a few years ago. Before I really got into photography (even in the least bit), but I thought it was a gorgeous shot regardless.

I do have a larger version... buuut don't really know how to host/link it I just have a free photobucket account and if I can do it with that I haven't figured it out yet :? if you know how lemme know and I'll put a link ASAP

In your account settings in photobucket you can change the max file size to 1024k (1mb). If you're using photoshop and "save for web" instead of "save as" you cna lower the quality to ~85% and you'll see below what the file size is. Between 85% and 100% should get you to 1mb or less.
Otherwise, I can receive emails up to 5mb or so, I'll send you my email addy in a PM.

I've been there. Great snorkeling. That photo is one of the top ten photos to be take in the world. So I read in a magizine. Still very nice though.

Yeah saturation is pretty bad on the batman one haha. I just thought the colors might go well with it, but thanks for the crits I'll fix some right now..
I was thinking about editing the b&w photo, but I got lazy. I should try that today.. or soon, cuz those people in the corner bother me, too.
Shiverz: thanks that seal was straight up gangster. his eyes were always lows and he just sits on that rock and howls/waves his flipper all day.

Here's a flower. No I don't have fancy frames and I haven't played around with settings or any of that. I am lazy.

Are those fucking gnocchi? If so you are made of pure win.
Gnocchi + Vodka Sauce + Fresh Basil + Parsley + Parmesan
It feels good to be made of win.

I, uhhh, I don't know much about plants outside of the ones I am growing on my porch. This happens to be one of them.

And a fence in front of the local high school's soccer field
Late afternoon lighing kicks ass.
I'll post more when I get a chance to resize.
And because I am a camera whore and this is an awsome shot of me
P.S. Woo arbitrary cropping

but that one
is
kinda creepy, actually.
I dunno why.
Maybe it being a public area makes it seem voyeuristic.

This Dragon here is a road blocker thing at FSU. Very cool and I'm glad it came out the way it did.
These two were from a stunt show at where I work, I have a lot more like this but the pictures came out... sub par.
I have yet to do anything to these pictures, but I have something in mind for the stunt ones.
Edit:
This is kind of it. It still needs a bit of tweaking.
I'll leave you all to ponder what the subject of the photo was.
