Ok 5-4 is the only one I have left. The final piece. The jump is too high. Anyone got a hint?
Im wondering the exact same thing, I got the other two and I put the enemy below the little platform but even jumping off him isnt enough to reach it, Im going crazy trying to figure it out
Anyone have any hints?
Is there anything you can do to give the jump more height? This one you've gotta think fairly outside the box for it, but man is it rewarding to get

If you still can't get it here's basically the full hint
Try getting the monster to land on top of you. When it lands on your shadow you can jump on top of it from above for greater height to reach the puzzle piece.

Woooow, Braid is difficult.
Time bending puzzles break my brain.
Finished it, but man, speed runs? Shiet.
I just finished it as well, but goddamn, the speed runs are going to take forever. I've gotten the Jumpman speedrun (37.88 when I need 38.00, awesome!) but the rest look impossible. Time to get crackin'
/edit: Hah, scratch that, I got Phase by the skin of my teeth. I beat the time by .02 seconds.
So, I found one thing about this game that I don't like. There's certain puzzle pieces that I'm unable to get where I'm not sure if A) I've figured out how to get them but am not getting the platforming/timing down or If I haven't figured out the puzzle at all. For instance in World Three:
The first piece in the fifth stage of World Three (Irreversible) - there's a puzzle piece of a fire/spike pit. There's a block impervious to rewinding which stops a block that can be rewound from extending over the pit. There's also goomba things. Am I supposed to be able to get the piece by jumping off of one of the goombas at exactly the right time? It doesn't seem like the solution, but I haven't come up with anything else.

That puzzle was interesting... I spent a really long time on it, gave up, came back to it and I felt like an idiot when I figured out what was going on. Total facepalm.

Kind of a cryptic hint:
Think of the stage name
I still don't get it...this one and the first piece of the last one in this world are making me feel like an idiot. I think I'll step away for a bit and come back to it.

Another hint: Everything is there for a reason. If you see an object that's there, and your proposed solution doesn't use it in some way, it's almost certain that you don't have the right solution.
That writeup that Voth posted is inaccurate. I never said that Bioshock sucks (at least, not quite that way; I did say a sentence with the words "Bioshock sucks" next to each other, but it was obviously a joking aside). Bioshock is an interesting game in a lot of ways, but I don't think the Little Sister thing was handled well, and that is what I was criticizing in the lecture.
The full lecture is available on the Braid blog; just search the "Appearances" category and look for the Montreal lecture.
This is what I don't like about web write-ups like this. Someone liveblogs a lecture or takes quick notes, oversensationalizes something, and then thousands of people get pissed off at me on message boards for something I didn't say.
I just completed World 2 on my own. The two pieces in the level where you assemble the painting were giving me trouble. I was trying many different ways to jump and bounce off of the goomba to get across and then I (no spoilers) . . . "uh, oh." Then getting the goomba down. I loved it!
Ok, I'm now on World 4 and I'm ready to start punching things. I'm sure my mind will start to adapt soon enough. It's late and I want to go to bed but I'm terrified if I start moving towards the stairs everything will run backwards and I'll be playing the game again.
I need to forget that developers actually read these forums before I trash talk them
What are you on about. This is where you pounce. I remember calling out a guy on quarter to three for being a gigantic jackass, and heck even on these forums go to writers block and tease taky about how poorly he wrote mass effect.

Didn't you have to click Yes through two separate confirmation screens?
I was just coming on here to complain about this. I think it's really really stupid that Braid only has one save file. I mean really stupid. I don't mind so much that I can only have one game going on at a time but for some reason whenever I go to play and I'm not connected to the internet (connecting through a laptop so sometimes I'm not connected) it assumes I have a trial game. Then when I start a game (after connecting to the internet) it thinks that I've restarted so I get to start from the beginning.
I mean the game isn't that long, so it's not a huge problem, but it still sucks when you want to start on the fifth world having gotten all of the puzzle pieces up to that point and you find out that you have to start all over again

Yeah, I was doing a speed run.
And I usually click down down A A or some combination real quick to restart the level.
So, I repeat over and over, the combination is kinda burned into my fingers.
Then I forget to press Down twice, and it goes to Start New Game. By the time I realize it says Start New Game, it already started a new game.
I second the multiple file thing. No reason not to have multiple save files.
(in your defense, I often do this in other games, where I hit Start, a button combination, and come out with a result that I didn't want due to a missed button)
BTW, Ghost Hands, what other gaming forums do your frequent?
I find it cool you are frequenting the Penny Arcade forums in a thread for your game. (you like us? you really like us?)

Ghost Hands, don't know if you'll respond to this, but I have one minor niggle with (an otherwise excellent) Braid, that I feel is well founded. It's rooted in spoiler though, so I'll spoiler tag it.
Braid generally feels perfectly thought-out, and it never punishes the player for their mistakes. Except for the Star in the World 3 painting. I had to completely restart my game to obtain this star once I spotted it, which seems a bit broken in a game that's so well designed.
It seems that if you don't spot the star before completing the world 3 puzzle then you're forced to restart to obtain it. Is this an oversight, or a deliberate design decision?
Apart from that minor niggle, I'm absolutely loving tearing my hair out searching for stars. Only 3 stars to go now!

Well, if it's just a poor write-up/summary, then that's fine. I was planning on getting the game regardless of what the creator thought of it. A couple of my friends have been very impressed with it, so I thought I would give it a shot as well.
I suppose it was a bad sign when the article had a picture of two fat girls feeding each other.
Grundlterror: That definitely sounds like a bug. Is this happening to anyone else?
Did you buy the game on a different xbox and then move it over, or something? (it might be some kind of problem with xbox DRM?) I would think that if this happens for everyone then it would be caught in testing.
There's only one save file because I figured that it would just work fine that way... I was trying to avoid unnecessary complication with Braid. For the PC version, I think I am going to have save slots, but the default behavior is just like now -- it always uses the first slot, invisibly, unless you go into the menu and change it.
In retrospect maybe I should have done this for XBLA, but it wasn't clear at the time.
To restart speed runs quickly you can use the Back button... especially if you disable the confirmation screen.
The main forum that I actually post a lot in is Qt3. The past few days though I have been reading a lot of forums to see how people are responding to the game.
As for the speed run... I think it is do-able in 35 minutes, so 45 gives you 10 whole minutes of slack!

I actually did do this, I have 2 xboxes and I wanted to play in HD so I moved my HDD upstairs. Not sure why that would happen though =(

Ok I ask again, (yes, twice now) for a hint, Im on world 6 I shall spoiler to keep the world 6 virgins... virginified?
ok so basically theres a ladder...what Im doing is dropping the ladder, going on the green stuff, rewinding so I can get below it, then jumping off to below the ladder, dropping my ring and jumping on the ladder, at the highest point of its bounce, I STILL cant reach the puzzle piece, Im like...an inch away and each time I move to the side I just do a mini bounce to the side and fall off the ladder. this is the last piece I need too, I got the "in another castle" one already but came back to finish, I dont get it, I thought this was it but I cant come up with any other ways to grab that thing.

You know those two moving platforms that have green sparkly on top of them? The ring works on them too.
Be on the ladder before it even hits the ground. That's all I will say.

I just dont see any other way than what Im doing, I mean....Im climbing the ladder as its bouncing up to the piece and just as the ladder reaches the height of the bounce I try to slide over onto the ledge with the puzzle piece inside but it just sorta...bounces me off, BLARG, I shant give up on this beast!
