I actually did do this, I have 2 xboxes and I wanted to play in HD so I moved my HDD upstairs. Not sure why that would happen though =(
The xbox DRM just gets confused, and I don't think that in testing they move hard drives around.
If you want to move the game around in the future, you could copy it and your save files to a memory card, and this problem won't happen. Hmm, I guess there's no other way to copy files off an xbox instead of with a memory card? Does the Windows Media Center PC thing let you copy files back off?
Edit: At least I think it won't happen. But also, you would for sure have a backup of your save files in case they do get erased.
And it's ironic because this is the guy who gives lectures on how games should be ethical.
This isn't unethical, it's inhumane. This will consume soulz.

Just finished it; what a wonderful little game. I can't seem to get one of the tunes out of my head though!
Edit - Which, thanks to the link in the OP, turns out to be Shira Kammen's Wild Wood. Awesome.
Double Edit - Well, turns the rest of the CD sounds great. Something tells me this damn game is going to have me spending 4 times its cost on CDs...
Just finished the last part. I am blown away. This has taken the #2 spot in my best games of all time list, just behind Portal, but I had to think long and hard before knocking it down from #1.
Ghost Hands, since you seem to be online now, I don't know if you follow the other thread...
The credits say Rod Humble helped with playtesting and whatnot. Is that Rod the same Rod Humble who worked on Subspace back in the day (mid-late 90's) at Virgin Interactive Entertainment? Goes by 'bfrog'? If so, how's he doing?
Second repeated statement from a previous post: this is an incredible game. If the royalties from this don't buy you a nice new house, there is no justice in the world. I'm hunkered down in 'save money' mode, preparing to attend PAX and not starve, but your demo was too fascinating. I bought it. I'm still SUPER impressed, and this game and Portal will be the two I show off to people most, now.
Does it freak you out that your current (last I checked) Metacritic score has you tied with Geometry Wars 2 and with Forza Motorsport 2, and bested by no other XBLA game?
I'll have more insightful things to say once I've finished your game. I was up far too late last night playing it and feel like a zombie at work tonight. I don't usually do that for games any more.

I just checked Metacritic, and Braid is up to 92 now... Geometry Wars 2 is at 90. So things are looking good there!
I don't know if Rod had anything to do with Subspace. This is the Rod Humble that is Executive Vice President of the Sims division at Electronic Arts, and also made the indie art games The Marriage and Stars over Half Moon Bay.
As for the royalties from Braid... we'll see how it goes! First I had to pay back a big testing+localization advance from Microsoft before I get anything, but that is taken care of now. Now I am working on the debt I went into to finish Braid after running out of money. After that I start replacing the savings I spent to make the game, and then if I'm lucky I start making some money to stand in for the income I would have had if I were working a paid job for the past 3 years. Game development is expensive!
But really, my main goal was to just get Braid out there, no matter what. And that has happened, so everything else is gravy. A lot of people really like the game... so that is good. And I am grateful that people are buying the game, because it means that (if things keep going well) I will probably be able to afford to make another game. I was very worried that Braid might just get released and disappear into indie obscurity, with just a few people even knowing about it. That hasn't happened, and the fact that people are feeling strongly about the game and telling their friends about it is very cool. Some people have had very strong reactions, and that is really what I was hoping for. You can't expect everyone in the world to like what you produce, but you can hope to very strongly touch at least a small portion of your audience.

Well, not to jump the gun, but it looks as though you may be, for the most part, two for two on that one. I would tell you to take a well earned vacation, but I have a feeling I would have a legion of angry PC gamers on my back for it.
Ghost Hands, don't know if you'll respond to this, but I have one minor niggle with (an otherwise excellent) Braid, that I feel is well founded. It's rooted in spoiler though, so I'll spoiler tag it.
Braid generally feels perfectly thought-out, and it never punishes the player for their mistakes. Except for the Star in the World 3 painting. I had to completely restart my game to obtain this star once I spotted it, which seems a bit broken in a game that's so well designed.
It seems that if you don't spot the star before completing the world 3 puzzle then you're forced to restart to obtain it. Is this an oversight, or a deliberate design decision?
Apart from that minor niggle, I'm absolutely loving tearing my hair out searching for stars. Only 3 stars to go now!
I'm going to strongly agree with the "walkthrough" and suggest to stick with puzzles rather than give up and get hints. I think the effect is really lessened otherwise. Here's all you need to know, in my opinion: 1) The puzzles are all possible with what you see in front of you, 2) If you aren't sure what could produce the result you need, experiment with various new things, because there must be something you haven't realized yet.
The hardest puzzles for me were "Bridging The Gap" in World 5 and the very last one with the fireball shooting up the ladder.
Now to go back and figure out what these
stars
are all about!
Also, what's up with this image that was in the posted Bioshock/MMO website?

I still can't figure out this damn one. It's the only piece I have left.
Here
First move both platforms together. Put the ring on the one that moves vertically. Move them back and set it up to where the small one moves horizontally below the larger one, and it will continue to move to the left. Go up the latter, wait for the small platform to be in a good spot. Hit the switch, then jump down onto the large platform and then onto the small one. Once it reaches the edge, rewind, jump on the ladder, and jump off when it bounces.

That sounds totally different from my solution which goes to show how awesome the puzzles are.
Ok, so I got all the puzzle pieces and completed all the pictures. When I get to the end of the epilogue a castle is built out of the stages. If I climb up and get on the cloud there's....nothing? It really seems like there is supposed to be something there but for the life of me I can't figure out what.
Does it have anything to do with the previous "room" where the plank goes up and the ignore-time sparklies are on it? I can't get on that either.
Oh, and why the hell is there like a "AAAAAAAAAA" when you go in to the bush on the second room?
EDIT: Figured out the aaaaa thing; it changes the text. There's one I'm having trouble getting.
I am sure that someone has already asked about this one but 2-2:
i already moved the painting to get the upper piece, but the lower piece right above the door, how do i get that?
If you know how to get that piece, you're halfway there. Think about it some more and play with that mechanic and it should be fairly easy.
Some meta-commentary on the game referring to the solution of this puzzle:
Situations like this I think are the hardest barrier to solving puzzles. Why does the goomba turn around when at the edge of a normal ledge but walk off when you've extended it with the puzzle ledge? I'm not sure if I would agree that this "derives directly from the gameplay" as specified. It's more that you have to experiment to find out what the full gameplay is, and then it derives from it. It's often these little details that cause the most trouble, though they are present in every game.
It's honestly not a problem for me, but I just wanted to say that I don't agree with it always being purely derivative of the readily apparent gameplay rules.

It turns at the edge even when extended, for me. I had to pull it from right under its feet to get it on the floor.

The way it worked for me was to
make the portrait bridge overlap with the one the goomba is walking around on. Then, just to be sure, while he's standing on it I move the painting so he falls down.
