Webcam monitoring my house

I'm going to be getting some floors redone in my house by contractors. Due to my work schedule, all of this work will be done when I am not around, giving them full access to my house. I would like to setup a webcam to record any activity in my family room - a room that there is no reason for them to be in. My paranoia has gotten the best of me and I don't want to be paying guys to hang out or snoop around my house. I already have a laptop setup in this room, so I'm just looking for webcam and/or application suggestions. Any ideas?

I believe all Logitech Cams come with software for motion activated video capture. Mine did, and it worked wonders when I was gone on a trip to China. Caught my mother in-law in my home office, when she had no business in there.
