so, come October i get to upgrade from my old-ass phone to something new. I was 100% sure i would be choosing the feature-packed Blackberry Curve...however all this talk about EMR causing cancer got me a little worried. I have read somewhere that the Curve produces the most radiation compared to other models.
So my question is this, how SERIOUS is this issue? I know it's still in a bit of debate, and I haven't read up on the scientific explanations very well. I know pretty much EVERYTHING causes cancer these days, but does a cellphone contribute a SIGNIFICANT amount of radiation?
yea, another one of those overblown scientific studies.
Did you know that eating too many banannas can kill you? It's the truth. You'd have to eat about 200 in one sitting, but if you do that, it could kill you. It will never happen, but my god, it could happen.
Well, the reality is that certain levels of EMR are dangerous--for instance you don't really want to give a radar antenna a hug. All current information points to the levels of radiation coming from cell phones as being harmless, but cell phones haven't been around that long and there's really know historical data on what holding a radio transmitter up to your head will do over decades.
There's nothing to worry about, really. Then again, my grandpa also thought it was ok to wash his hands with gasoline. Point is, science is going to keep discovering things that are harmful that we thought were ok. You can either live in the woods 100 miles from another person, in which case a bear will probably eat you, or you can go on with your life.

I've done that before. Really gets the dirt off. Is it actually all that bad?
Considering that medical science knows of very few proven carcinogens, and one of the major ones is a major component in gasoline, yes. (that would be benzene).

Benzene wasn't always in gas too, gasoline used to have lead in it and benzene became the substitute for it. I think lead is only a danger to babies and toddlers and stuff, I don't believe it poses much harm to adults.

but they're listening to every word I say

Its actually a really good cleaner. Mechanics have used it for years.
