Mounting a iso/mdf file in OS X as a Virtual DVD, Help!

Wormhole AnthropologistWormhole Anthropologist Registered User regular
I am trying to mount a few iso / mdf files I have (backups of my legal DVDs for games and one mini iso so I dont have to have the DVD in to play). The only problem is the games dont view mounted disk image (iso) files as the DVD.

Is there a way to mount these files as a virtual DVD in OS X like you would do with Dameon Tools or something in Windows. Preferably a way that involves not running a program first (so I can code a script to launch the disk image before the game opens).

MDF files a re basically bastards in OS X. I resorted to using my Xp partition to get the contents of one I came across. Rerip the discs as DMG files.

Out of curiousity, what game is it? And why on earth did you choose iso/mdf for an os x system?

All you have to do is rename an MDF to iso and it works for OS X.

My problem isnot reading the file, i need it to mount as a virtual disk, NOT a disk image.

I need to trick the game into thinking that it is the actual CD in the "Drive" and not a disk image. One game is Quake Wars (i ripped the full cd) and the other is BF2 via a Cider port using a mini iso.

Apparently there is an app called Toast which mounts images better than the built in OSX one. At least, so a googling tells me

Thanks! I got the app and installed it and mounted the isos (and made one of one of my game CDs). It does infact look like they mount as CDs (according to the icon in Finder) but unfortunately my games dont register a DVD/CD as being in. Bummer. I guess you can't full this dang Insert CD copy protection..
