3) I get one Imp free from my pet Imp. Think I should just not equip him? I do kind of like having the option to do just bit more damage on an important turn, and I can always discard him.
Wait a second. Are you saying you get a free spell based on your pet? If this is the case I didn't realize that, I thought the pets were just cosmetic.
Yes, some pets give you cards just like Amulets. None of the ones you can buy though, as far as I know.
Bamelin: It depends on what you want. I have a bunch of Death spells I never use, like Banshee and Skeletal Pirate, but that I had to go through to get the higher level Death spells I wanted like Feint. I do use Vampire now and then though. So... look at each spell Life would give you and see if any are really good?
Also, there are crazier spells you can get from other hidden trainers. Like the Taunts and Pacifies, or the tri-blade things you can get from the Balance tree in Krokotopia. And a bunch of "Sacrifice your minion to do X" cards.
There are definately a few life spells I'm interested in, particularly the higher powered heal card (Sylph or something like that, heals for around 800 or so). I've gotten up to Absorb (the 400 barrier shield) so far, and it's probaly one of my favorite life spells.
I'm just unsure when to expect training points, they seem few and far between.
You get a training point every... something levels. 5 maybe? And then each Prospector quest gives you one, which means at this point 4 (one for each of the four worlds assuming Mooshu has one as well).

While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.
I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong. As a death mage, I have a quest to go find our Tree. It's in Night*something*. But I can't see how to get there. Did I miss somewhere?

Under the waterfall in the Commons.
Is there a trick to it? The door won't open.
You need a quest from the headmaster to go there. If he doesn't have one for you, be sure you've finished all of his other questlines.

You have to talk to the Headmaster to get the key for the Waterfall door, However I do not remember where I got the quest to talk to him. What streets have you completed?
So I just ran in to an issue that I find very lame. I just hit level 18 and my fire teacher sent me on a quest so I could get a new spell. So I run around do all the stuff and then discover that I need to go to the Hall of Champions in Krokotopia. Except I can't because Talbot hasn't given me permission (I assume because I haven't killed the 4 Nirrini boses in the Palace Chambers yet.) But why make a class quest undoable the second you get it?
there are *a lot* of quests that send you to zones you don't have access to yet. Simply keep doing other quests until you do gain access, or find someone on irc to teleport you there.
RE high level secondary school spells: I wouldn't bother getting anything over 4 pips unless it's something like Death, where you need to get skeletal pirate before you can get Feint.
It's a great starter spell, when mobs just plap plap plap you then you bust out 640 damage. BUt later on, when mobs do combos and shit and you're just sitting there waiting for 5 pips it really doesn't work.
Choke single-handedly makes Pyromancer worth it as a primary school choice. It's that good. If Storm got Choke, Storm would be good.
Luke, Tabitha, and I just did an instance and in the last boss battle I cast some shields turn one and two, discarded some cards, and opened up my hand turn three with 3 of my 5 chokes. I proceeded to deny the entire enemy team their turns for the next three rounds straight, while drawing a fourth Choke which a used a couple of rounds later.
Choke is the best group card bar none.

Pro Tip: You can discard your cards and it'll draw more cards for you next round. I did not know this.
I require a secondary and am leaning towards either life or balance. The former for the wtffactor more so than what it can provide. The later for actual usage.
My current deck:
3 x Pixie
5 x Cyclops
5 x Trolls
3 x xbox huge frog
3 x Ether Shield
3 x Myth Blade
3 x Myth Trap
2 x Myth Shield
2 x Myth Prism
1 x Cyclops Minion
What I really want though, is a deck built around Draw Power. It costs one pip, sacs a minion and gives you two. Could be grand with that and the Golem Minion, which costs zero pips.
configuring my deck last night, i noticed i had Water Elemental, the storm minion spell (!) ... NO idea when I got it, or where. i dont recall questing for it, but maybe i did. anyway, it has completely changed my strategy for boss fights. stormee (that's my nick for my elemental companion, my only real friend in the world) will show up and taunt the hell out of the biggest boss, then shield himself relentlessly. helped me get through that boss fight with the 2000 health minotaur, he just sat there drawing aggro from him the entire time.
i may have to buy myself one or more of those pet manipulation cards (the buf or the -70% shield) or god forbid even start again as a myth guy.
storm pet (IMO) takes too long to set up. If you know you're in a marathon fight (2k HP boss) then maybe I'll cast it... but you're looking at 2 turns min just to get him out, then a 3rd turn where it's 50/50 if he actually taunts first or shields. In 3 turns (and for 3 pips) I can kill 1 "minion" type... and then the fight is 1on1 and basically easy anyway. The only time I might prioritize him is if the enemy goes first.
btw my tricks:
For collection quests (find X crates, etc) find a crate and open it... then switch realms. A new crate will (probably) be in front of you. Repeat until you finish quest.
For (most) boss fights if you don't go first (huge advantage), go to options -> quit before you take a turn. Re-enter and you'll appear outside of battle. You can do this in normal fights if you get "sucked in" and don't want to fight. Keep in mind though that when you re-enter you don't spawn 'immune' to being dragged in combat... so sometimes you'll have to wait a bit for the enemy to pass (or the trick just won't work in some areas). Also, you obviously can't do this in long instances that are more than just a boss fight. It teleports you outside.
I know how you feel. I got my minion quest at level 28, and couldnt get to the next area until level 30. Then i had to kill the same boss 9 times in a row to get it.
Since people are having trouble with this apparently:
In Big Ben, the code for the door is on the shields on each level. In front of each elevetor to the next level, one of the shields will be lit up. In order from bottom to top, these make the code.

FYI there is a secret boss in katzensteins lab, you got to collect planks to build a bridge to get to him. He is on the left side of the room katzenstein is in
Man, ive nearly cleared all of counterwieght east by myself, but im at the last boss who has 2 minions and im at 35 mana. I don't think id be able to solo him but no one is on
I'm making a list of hidden vendors, note some of these aren't all that well hidden:
First world:
Fair Grounds- Sort of in the back, a lady sells 80% res shields to a single school. You get your schools free.
Nightside- The tree sells taunt/soothe cards. You get your schools for free.
Colossus Blvd- Near Mindy, as you approach here look toward the left. There's a path to a store. Sells misc cards (most seem worthless, but there's a nice Myth stun all spell for 2 pips IIRC)
Second world:
Krok land- After you can access the boat, the tree sells tri-school balance spells.
hidden shop- Where all the stores are, there's a tele-pad and 2 obelisks. When it's light up all the way (every 30 minutes?) a portal opens to a shop. The roof of this hidden shop has minion-base spells.
Haven't found anything in the third or fourth world yet Been looking but no luck.

There is a secret shop in world 3 in the digmoore station. Go down the stairs next to mayor pimsbury, Croaky sells sacrifice minion spells for differing benefits

Myth - 25 - Stun
Life - 10 - Damage trap
Balance - 20 - Resuffle discars into pack
Fire, Ice & Storm - 22 - Dissipate next outgoing spell of that type
