Looks like that'll do it. I hate that for Texas. It sucks to see them lose this way. If McCoy played the whole game, I think we all know things would've gone differently.

McCoy would have helped, but jesus some pass defense would have been nice, too. Amateur hour to the max...

EDIT: Man, this is classic. No less than 3 different people have stepped out of their rooms into the hall and yelled "What the FUCK!" in the last 3 minutes.

Simply put, we weren't up to snuff. Yeah, sucks that we had our first string QB out, sucks that we kept fumbling, sucks alot of things. Oh well, we gave it our all, and the horns surprized even me this year. I'd loved to have gone back to defend our title, and I thought we could compete against OSU, but before we could even begin to ask if Texas was better than OSU, we had to ask if texas was better than KSU.

Nope, we're not. We'll be back next year, and aggies better watch out. Here's to next year.

Now I'm gonna go drink a lot.

    man

the top ten is going to be all kinds of messed up. All of these top 10 losses will wind up being good for arkansas in the polls. Too bad South carolina didn't beat florida. That would have really helped us out.

You'd still have USC to worry about even if Florida did lose. Even more so since you lost to them. Florida winning by one might help but the Razorbacks won't jump them. 5th looks like a good spot for Arkansas right now. You finish the season strong and win the SEC title game against Florida, who knows?

I've looked at the new rankings and figured out what needs to happen. USC needs to lose to Cal or UCLA and beat Notre Dame. Michigan needs to blow out OSU this weekend. Florida or Arkansas needs to win out. Then we'll have an SEC team in the title game. I don't think it'll matter what Rutgers does. They'll probably be left out in the cold no matter what happens. That sucks for them but being in the Big East just doesn't pay like it did before BC, Miami and VT left. I doubt all of this stuff will happen but I can dream.

I don't think all of that will happen, but I think that arkansas will probably win out the rest of their games, and florida probably will too.

Not that that by itself really means anything. Believe me, I want the SEC in the championship game, too.

I hate to break it to you, sevencurses, but this last game simply proves that Texas never deserved to be ranked as high as they were along with most of the other teams that have spent time in the top ten.

There were a bunch of overrated teams this year. Florida is/was overrated too but they deserved a shot at the title due to the difficulty of their schedule. Auburn should never have been considered a top 5 team and the same goes for Texas. Cal never looked like a top 10 team and neither did Oklahoma. Iowa, Penn State, and Oregon should never have been ranked.

The only team that looks good enough to play OSU is Michigan. No matter who is left after OSU beats them (USC, Florida, Notre Dame, Rutgers) it'll be a massacre in the BCS Championship.

OSU has only played one difficult game all year. To me, they havn't proved themselves. I'm not saying they aren't good, but c'mon--they've played cupcakes all year.

I just don't think they are as hot as you think they are. I think a good number of teams ranked lower than them are good enough to play them, and I also think some of them could win.

I do agree with tou about the former top ten though.

I am certainly not a "buckeye fan". I live in Ohio but I am not a native thus I don't scream "I-O" every time I am preempted I assure you. I am actually a Notre Dame fan. However, other than the previous week, OSU really does look that good. They also have more talent than anyone else right now so the fact that they have that level of talent and seem to play very consistently it leads me to believe they truly are the best of the best this year.

OSU hasn't been tested very hard, true, but all of these other "top contenders" seem to falling to unranked teams so the mere fact that they haven't makes them better than Texas (whom they beat), Florida, Auburn, USC*, etc. The only teams left in the top ten without an embarrassing loss are Michigan and Rutgers. Though I give Rutgers all of the credit in the world for providing us maybe the most exciting football game of the year (pro or college), I think we all know Rutgers would get trashed by OSU in a BCS championship game. Michigan too.

Is OSU completely unbeatable? Of course not. It's college football for Christ's sake. Upsets are what make college sports worth watching. But they and Michigan look like the best of the best this year and that one difficult game you speak of (I assume you mean Texas) OSU kind of whooped there ass. At Austin.

*Isn't it funny how some teams can lose to unranked teams and remain in the top 5 and others lose to a #11 team and drop out of the top 10? Tell me the damn pollsters don't have it in for Notre Dame. Pfft!

Maybe it's the arkansas fandom in me, but I really think that arkansas could give them a good game if it *somehow* came to that. I don't know if they'd win, but I think it'd be a good game.

Granted USC whipped us at the start of the season, but we're a different team now.

I'm not saying we deserve a shot at the title over any of the other teams you mentioned, but I do think it'd be a good game.

Also, I like the rutgers alot, but I have a bad feeling they are about to get beat by WV. I don't want them to, but I just have this gut-feeling. I think the rutgers are an awesome team, but they'd get trounced by most of the teams in the top 7.

and yeah--the bsc is stupid. We need a playoff system!

Should this pan out, I think an Arkansas team that wins out its last two games and wins the SEC title game over Florida would prove to be a great match-up for Ohio State/Michigan. Arkansas is just playing better and better ball each week, and that combined with a one-loss record would be enough to justify them a spot in the title game.
Also, as a devoted Bama fan in another sad season of shame, I just hope we can pull the upset over Auburn at home Saturday. It's basically the Futility Bowl this year, but still, it would be huge for Bama to help get confidence as a program again. I would have never guessed it from the beginning, but Arkansas has been THE surprise team in my book. Judos to the Hogs.

If Florida were to lose again and Notre Dame were to beat USC, the BCS would have no choice to send ND to the title game with OSU. If Michigan were to beat OSU then we would probably end up seeing an OSU v. Michigan rematch.

I've never heard of him. I looked over his stats at the bottom of the page and it's hard not to respect the job he did as a coach. If they'd had the same standards to get into bowls then that they do now, he would've coached in 26 bowl games. That's pretty damn impressive. Not to mention being the winningest coach in Michigan history. It's a shame he had to die two days before one of the most important games in one of the biggest rivalries in college football. I wonder what kind of affect (if any) it will have on the team?

Man, ever since 1996 when I went to my first UT game, I've waited for this friday. I've seen UT-A&M several times in college station, but never before at home. I got royally screwed out of a ticket in 2004. This year, I got my ticket 3 months in advance. Finally, fucking FINALLY, I get to see the UT-A&M rivalry from Texas' perspective.

I've seen all the weird UT only shit A&M does at their home field. I can't wait to see our own traditions. Especially the "Pooooooor Aggy!" chant.
