wow, that's pretty sweet...$85 bucks an hour is pretty steep though for big-screen gaming, although I guess if you split it 12 ways it's only 7 bucks an hour.

    Update for Jimz Gamers Lounge:

I just spoke with Jim. It looks like our maximum number of people to LAN together at once (on Xbox 360s) is 14. There are also 2 one-chair Wii consoles, 2 one-chair PS3 consoles, a 4-chair Wii station, a 2-chair Guitar Hero station, and a 4 chair Rock Band station. We're good to up to 28 people, basically. 14 is still preferable so that we can all be in the same game of Halo/CoD/ect...
    ^.^
I need to have a finalized number (even if it is an unsure confirmation) by Wednesday the 20th so that we can get a group rate. Regular rates are $7 an hour. He was doing a promo for new customers to get 1 hour for free... I don't know if that will be included... he assured me a group rate would be "very reasonable." I'm suggesting we play for at least 3 hours (7pm-10pm). That should be enough time for people to catch the bus home.

Edit: Absinthe, you didn't pull that prose from their website, I wrote it myself to educate people about the place on the forum! Jim couldn't write something something that stylish and robust! ;)
Edit2: Jim, if you read this, I'm kidding. Seriously, go update your website with this...

Wow... you really REALLY like that place then don't you. To be honest when I reposted that blurb from the other thread all I could think of was the guy on the ShamWow Commercial saying it. lol.

I think you missed your calling... unless you actually do write commercial scripts... if that's the case, then well done.

Either way if the place garners that good of a blurb/review form a customer, it looks like it should be a pretty good event. Now I'm looking even more forward to it.

To ensure we have an accurate count, if you plan to attend the Jimz Event please make sure I have your name posted in the spoiler list (beneath the event in the original post). I'll try to add everyone as they post here, but if I miss your post feel free to PM me with a reminder that you will be attending.

That price is really nuts for Cineplex. The projectors they will be using (the same ones they throw the advertisements/trivia bits on the screen) are less than impressive.

Unless they have performed some upgrades for this feature.. which I doubt.

Even from Twassassen, the drive should only take 1.5 hours. I live in New Westminster, I can get to the ferry terminal in 50 minutes if there's not super bad traffic. From my house its 15-20 to Jimz's location in Port Moody. So even if you add a bit of traffic, its still not that hard/long to get to.

Ah yeah im looking at a map now...I was thinking Port Moody via Vancouver but it looks almost more logical to go through Surrey...is that how you usually get to the ferries? Because I think when i went to Coquitlam , I went down Marine, but I think River Road looks quicker? But Im afraid to get stuck behind a slow-moving semi.

Ok, directions to Port Moody from Tsawwassen (which is one of the weirdest place names ever). Taking River Road may be faster that what I'm going to say, but I've never tried it.

Take Hwy 17 to Hwy 99, get on Hwy 99 East (towards Surrey). Take the exit to get onto Hwy 91 North (the Alex Fraser Bridge). Get onto Hwy 91A, which takes you into New West. (Be very careful to follow road signs, as they're doing a lot of construction where Hwy 91A meets Marine Way, and it can be confusing.)

Take Stewardson Way east. When the road forks, take the left fork, which will be Columbia. Follow Columbia, getting into the left hand lane when the option is available. This will take you to a light where the left lane goes straight through, and the right lane curves. Go straight. You will go through the oldest part of New West (called Sapperton, est. 1862). When you cross over Braid St, the road turns into North Road. Continue following North Road over Lougheed Hwy. North Road will curve to the right at the top of the hill, and turn into Clarke Rd. Follow Clarke until it curves to the right again, and turns into St. Johns St. Follow St. Johns to Moray St, which is where Jimz is.

I probably should mention that Jimz Gamers Lounge is apparently open until 2am (this was brought up in another thread). Although the "official" event will be from 7-10pm, there's another 4 hours afterwards that the more hardcore folks can stick around for (Although our group rate may not apply for that time).

Personally I'll probably stick around untill 11 if there are other people staying. That still gives me plenty of time to get back to Lougheed for the last Skytrain of the night.

    ===========

Also I'll be checking out the Wings place this Monday night and having a chat with them about our PAX For The Wings night. I have to make sure they are able to handle our group size correctly.

I'm not sure yet when the last train leaves from Lougheed. I'm also not sure if it goes towards VCC-Clark (in which case I'm sure Commercial station would be adequate for you. lol.) or the Waterfront. The translink site is very cryptic with their late night Millenium Line schedule so I'm hoping ACC3SS or someone else from the area might have realistic times for when the last trains leave Lougheed.

Either way I'll give you a heads up on my travel plans since it appears that you live in my neighborhood. lol.

1:09 am should be the last skytrain going from Lougheed to Commercial Drive.

If you want to go downtown, you'd have to take the 12:45 am millenium line to commercial, then swap to an expo line, or take the millenium line then a bus downtown from there.

Okay so... the 1:09am is the last train leaving Lougheed.... but IF you want a connection to the Expo line you need to catch the 12:45 from Lougheed instead? Did I get that right?

This is the cryptic stuff I referred to. It looks like Mustard and I are in the same boat, we both just need to get back to Broadway/Commercial (either one, same bloody station). All I need to know is when the last train leaves Lougheed as no matter which direction it goes in it will hit the Broad/Comm hub along the way. Sadly their site speaks in strange tongues, referring to split services and special routes after certain unspecified hours.

Ah forget it. Too much bloody thinking, I'm just going to leave Jimz at 11pm, catch whatever train I catch and hit up the midnight horror marathon at the Rio Theatre when I get back to Broadway/Commercial. Dilema solved. lol.

" note that Gamedeals video games is on your left just before 4th street (you can't miss the giant NES controller). Stop in, mention you're going to PAX, and a deal will be yours.

Well of course its a bad movie... the other part of the double feature, Brain Damage... that one is way worse. They protaganist has a talking slug in his head for goodness sake. These kind of movies aren't supposed to be good, there supposed to be horribly awful. Yay, Sumi!

    Regarding Jimz:
I think this is going to be pretty sweet! We've got 7 confirmed and 2 "perhaps"s... It's time to start talking about games! I'm recommending some Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4. It will work well for 4v4 or 5v5 gaming... (If we're a man short we can include Jim or his friend Mav).

If any of you own an Xbox 360, I suggest you bring your hard drive. It's not necessary, but I like to be able to load my own profile/armour/whathaveyou... Also if we decide to split into different games some people can probably go on Live (if you have an account. We may have 1 or 2 extras, not sure...). I think LAN should suffice, I'm just talking about options now...

I'd love to hear some input!

PS. Anyone attending going to play Too Human when it comes out? Bring your HD and we can co-op!

Aside from the games on the 360 Badlcuk seems to have a pretty big Brawl fixation going at the moment so I think I'll have to go all Metaknight on her Pikachu for at least a couple of matches. Though I'm not too sure if anyone else even likes that game.... ;)

Eeep, I'm Sheiking in my boots.

Anyway for the Wings night I'm going to round up the current number (15) and make a reservation for 20 people. They generally have a pretty small staff there so I have to give them some notice to make sure they can handle our group. So anyone who hasn't signed up yet and wants to attend please post asap so we can ensure you're included in the reservation.

Also if you are on the list and bringing someone with you, please also make sure I have you listed as haiving a +1.

There will still be space for a couple more people to show up who are not on our reservation (place isn't THAT small) but if you are still on the fence you might want to get off it in the next couple days.

Interestingly I have almost the same amount of playtime with Halo 3 as you do.... and I own the game.

I bought my copy of Halo 3 the same day I bought GTAIV (Futureshop had the collectors edition of H3 on sale cheaper than the regular edition, so I thought 'why not'.) I got home put in the disk and watched the intro movie, got as far as the menu screen and thought "dammit this isn't the GTAIV disk." and then I put the correct disk in.

So I spent a lot of time with GTAIV, mostly as I was too busy messing around to actually complete the missions... but eventually I got around to putting H3 back in and running through the tutorial to see if the controls changed much... but then I realized that the PAA game had come out that very day, so off to the dashboard and into the downloads section I went.

This continued over the last couple months, with various titles. Most recently I got as far as messing around with creating my Halo Multiplayer Armor when I thought to myself "They sure added a lot of customization, it's almost like being able to create my own unique character to fight wit.. oh my god SC4 came out today!" After a quick trip to Futureshop my poor copy of Halo was again neglected.

Oh well I guess I might actually try playing Halo now to get a little practice in over the next week..... there aren't any decent new games coming out in the next five days I'm forgetting about is there? o_O
