[SOLVED] Quick question about rice cookers

If you have a 10-person rice cooker, do you have to put in ten portions of rice every time, or will it work fine if you reduce the amount and rice and water proportionally? I can get a basic ten-person rice cooker for about $30, but I'll normally be making only enough for myself (plus maybe some extra to put in the fridge and fry later). I would get a smaller one, but they're basically the same price; and I figure that I can use a larger one to do other things, like make soup or steam things.
