The Most Dangerous Game - SW Saga Edition (OOC)

JacquesCousteauJacquesCousteau Registered User regular
edited September 2008 in Critical Failures
Order 66: In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established.

Just like the rest, it all started for you on Kamino: the training drills, the conditioning and the Code were all you had. Only for you, that's not where it ended. You survived multiple tours against the CIS, watching your brothers die - yourself die - over and over but always managing to somehow scrape by; and the reward at the end of it all: more fighting.

Finally though, your loyalty has paid off. Whatever your feelings were about the Jedi, when the command came down the line you were the one to pull the trigger. That is why Lord Vader has summoned you along with three of your fellow soldiers to partake in a special mission.

This is a Star Wars Saga Edition game, in which you, the players, play the role of 4 clone troopers chosen by Vader himself to go on a mission. The game takes place soon after Order 66 and will with any luck have a bit of everything.

As far as the technical stuff goes:

- Level 7, standard point buy and starting credits
- For now only non-force-sensitives humans (ie clones) will be allowed
- Only Starships of the Galaxy, Web Material and the Core Rulebook are allowed so far unless you want to describe other elements to me in PM
- I will be posting at least 1/day (when applicable) and I'm looking for reliable players who can post around the same amount
- Following Shoe's lead I will post statblocks for enemies to help move along combat sequences

If you have any questions or if you just want to apply go ahead. I'll likely be checking in for the next few hours.

UPDATE: Our current cast is composed of four brave clones:

Odger, Heavy Weapons and Rifle specialist played by DaJian

Chimera, slicer extraordinare played by delro

Scrubs, daring pilot played by Thorne

Manticore, shooter of faces played by Pollo

I am in on this and will put up a Soldier Character Sheet sometime tomorrow.

    Name: Odger
Class: Soldier (maybe some other multiclassing in there after I see what others are playing)

    Class: Scoundrel/Soldier
    Role: Combat Slicer

    Character Sheet

I kitted him out with the gear appropriate to his role, namely the base clonetrooper kit: armor, utility belt, grenades (3 ion, 1 frag), and rifle (I took a carbine). I also added Slicer gear: a security kit, a tool kit, and a portable computer.

You (technically) have 14000 credits to start, so go ahead and load up. I probably won't be counting this as long as everyone doesn't end up with their own Millenium Falcon though so don't worry if you go a bit over.

EDIT: Also: sweet character portrait delro

Yeah, I found it on wookieepedia and just scaled it down to fit.

Edit: I spent 16350 (a little too much IMO), so I removed one ion grenade and the tool kit, as two ion grenades are enough, and I don't REALLY need the toolkit to perform my role. I'm still at 15850, but I believe the remaining gear to be appropriate. :)

Sounds good. Also, I just checked your character sheet and except for a mysterious +2 class bonus to fortitude it's all good. It also took me a while to figure out why you only seemed to have 6 feats, but I forgot the multiclassing rules.

The class bonus is from my soldier levels. The misc bonus is from my armor.

Oh. I thought by 'class bonuses to defense don't stack' they meant that you don't get both bonuses to defense. My error. Looks good then.

Because I am bored, and to make it easier for other players, I have put together a gear kit.

    Standard Trooper Kit, 10,000cr

Clone trooper armor (treat as stormtrooper armor)
    Blaster rifle OR blaster carbine
    Utility belt
3 grenades chosen from frag, ion, or stun

Optional: for +1000cr, replace blaster with either 1) a heavy blaster rifle, or 2) a missile launcher and blaster pistol

So I am working on Odger's sheet and I have a question. Does the Heavy Blaster Rifle cuont as a Heavy Weapon and a Rifle for the purposes of weapon proficency and weapon focus?

How I understand it you need both WP[Rifles] and WP[Heavy Weapons] to be able to use it without penalty, but I just need Weapon Focus (or talents) specify Rifles or Heavy Weapons to get those benifits on the Heavy Blaster Rifle.

Let me know if that assumption holds.

    EDIT:

Odger: Clone 0-DG-3R Heavy Weapons and Rifle Specialist.

Heavy rifles are actually just rifles as far as I know. If you see something contradicting that though you can tell me.

EDIT: Either than the range increments then, your sheet is fine.

I am blind I just skipped over the entire Heavy weapons section.

So I'll fix my range increments and will afix a grenade launcher to my heavy rifle.

Heavy REPEATING blaster rifles are heavy weapons, however. That may be where the confusion lies.

I'm thinking about throwing my hat into the mix as a specialized support type role. A mix of medic/communications/public relations specialist. I'd probably go with a mix of primarily noble, then a smattering of soldier and possibly scout. If this sounds viable, I'll try to get a character sheet up by tomorrow night.

Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking of.

My orginal concept was a flamethrower and a jet pack but as I looked through my books again a full on Rifle/Heavy Weapons specialist grew on me.

I went through all the trouble of cobbling together this ghetto sheet, and Myth Weavers is back up. I'll transfer this stuff over, but in the meantime you can see my sheet here.

    Front side
    Back Side

edit: I just realized he doesn't have a name. I'll get on that. Also, he's more of a sneaky hunter-type character, who also likes to blow things up.

edit2: Here's a more civilized version of the sheet. I'll follow delro's lead on this one.

    CT-3854/4093 "Manticore"
    Class: Soldier/Scout
Role: Shooting things. In the face.

    Character Sheet

He's also got the basic clonetrooper gear. He wants a rocket launcher, but he doesn't know how to use one yet.

    CT-1138/1978 'Scrubs'
    Class: Soldier/Ace Pilot
    Role: Pilot/Demolitions Expert
    Character sheet: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheets/view.php?id=75688

The basic idea is that Scrubs served with distinction during the Clone Wars but hasn't really fully supported the Empire yet. He'd be put on a team hunting Jedi because of his specialization in close-quarters combat and his exceptional piloting skills. They'd also want him out there hunting Jedi to burn away the embers of loyalty he still has to them.

Ok since I am a clone... I guess I'll fall in line :)

I changed my guys name to: CT-3423 v. 0-DG-3R "Odger"
I can't have him be exactly like everyone else so I set him up as a varient genome.

Dajian, I think you missed the idea that they are clone troopers.

They are all the same, outside of a very, very limited number of Null and Alpha class units... and having one of those on a four-man team would be a bit disruptive.

Well that is why I had him listed as a variance not as different SKU and had this in the background
"A slight variance in the genome he was cloned from gave Odger keen sight and increased strength."

to explain the difference in ability scores, but I can change it to be based all on the training program he was in.

I "get" that they are clones but with them being mass produced I figured there would be some variance and considering these four were singled out because they successfully executed order 66 I thought we may have been able to give them a bit more flavor.

Anyways if it is really an issue I am happy to switch his flavor to match the rest of the group.

There is some variance between individual clones, based on random selection for specialist training, or minor variations in the genetic template, or good old fashioned battlefield experience.

Now if only the Jedi would be polite enough to stop flipping about so we can properly explode them. I mean, they're to die anyway, so may as well go out with a bang, amirite?

Seriously though, if Scrubs could talk a Jedi into that it would be the best thing ever.

I'm gonna be looking over character sheets today and will be picking the players I think suit the team best, so if you want in you're welcome to apply. Also, those who don't get in will be put in the reserves in case of drop outs.

EDIT: Looked over Pollo and Thorne's sheets and found a few things (correct me if I'm wrong):

Pollo: Thought you missed a feat, but you just put 2 of them in the same row.

Thorne: You're missing one soldier talent.

Either than that, your sheets look good to go.

EDIT 2: Obvious mistake I missed: I'm pretty sure prestige classes start at level 8.

Correct, PrC's require that you be level 7 before taking the class, meaning you would have to take the first level in a PrC no earlier than level 8.

Thorne: I don't know if you have access to it, but Starships of the Galaxy has several pilot feats that grant some kickass special maneuvers. I don't know how much flying about we will be doing, but it might be something worth looking into.

Here's what the pilot helmet looks like, btw (somewhat largish pic):

Sorry on the PC confusion, the way I read it looked like I could the class at level 7. Am modifying the sheet to fit.

Also, del, the reason I'm not using a pilot pic is because I'm pretty sure he'll be on the ground more often than not. Thanks for the image, though.

Edit: Changed Evasion to Armored Defense, took Improved Armored Defense as my 4th talent. Changed my HP, BAB and RD to reflect lack of Ace Pilot.
