Current week + links to previous charts
UK: 9/21 - 9/27
The top 3 games in the All Formats Chart remain the same for a second week as Lucasarts’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ holds on to No1 despite a 38% drop in sales.
Nintendo’s ‘Wii Fit’ at No2 is continuing to shape up nicely, registering its 3rd largest sales week ever with a 75% rise in sales, while ‘Mario Kart Wii’ is a non-mover at No3 (sales up 26%). Ubisoft’s ‘Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway’ enters the battlefield at No4, only 2,250 sales behind Nintendo (65% of sales on Xbox 360, 35% on PS3), while Disney Interactive Studios has this weeks only other All Formats Top 10 new entry with ‘Pure’ at No8. This week last year there were 4 All Formats Top 10 new entries, including ‘Halo 3’ at No1 and ‘FIFA 08’ at No2. EA only have one Top 10 game this week with ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09’ down one place at No5, as ‘Mercenaries 2: World in Flames’ drops from No6 to No11, however ‘FIFA 09’ should kick start things for the big US publisher when it is launched next week. The ‘Wii Fit’ influenced game ‘Family Trainer’ from Namco-Bandai/Atari debuts at No20, proving that even with renewed stock of the Nintendo original, there is a market for similar fitness titles on Wii.

Also, nice, Wii Rock Band charts yet again.
Hey! Civ Revo is up there! Nice!
re: hw sales - nothing surprising there. It'll be interesting to see who ended up being the closest.

Also, where is MGS4?
Pachter was utterly schooled.
Holy crap.
It pulled 774.6K sales in the first month.
And dropped completely out of the top 10?
Jesus.

Nooooooo JC took my crown.
Using the old method for predictions, here's the finally tally. I don't have figures for everyone, I think I'm missing 3 or 4 people.
ArcSyn 102.68
toxk_02 104
Xaquin 126.9
cloudeagle 136.9
RainbowDespair 155
greeble 171
The_Scarab 247.7
galenblade 301
EggyToast 335
Xagarath 336
Little different but this was a really tight race, 7 people within 100k of each other.

That doesn't surprise me.
Seriously though, what a complete and utter wash-out for Pachter. And EEDAR - what happened to the knowledge gained from being privy to early sales..? Evidently that didn't help them. Their score is slightly affected by them not giving PS2 numbers, but if you check the "Minus PS2" leaderboard, it only gets them above Pachter.
No fair giving myself a free game.
The question is ... who is second? It's different depending if we use the website or toxk_02's list. Not sure why though, seems like the calculations should be the same, unless different weights are being applied.
Btw, the website is awesome. I love seeing how close people were.

While I'm happy to see the 360 go above 200K in a 4-week month, I was expecting it to go back to the previous 4-week levels. I did not think the SKU pricing or the E3 announcements were going to generate that much in extra sales, since it's the summer and I imagine most folks will put off their purchases till the Fall. But I guess I was wrong. I equally underestimated both the 360 and PS3 sales.
However, my Wii and DS estimates were surprisingly on target.
Edit: Oh, and for the record, I work on the Windows Games (GFW, Casual) side of things. I'm supposed to shun consoles or something.

Do not engage the Watermelons.
What's quite interesting is that you're not number one for any of the individual consoles. It's your consistently being near the top that gets you the overall victory.
360 has shoved all of its system selling releases into a very short furious fall period. There is nothing in the summer that will sell the console. I guess its a strategy or something or just a symptom of the developer suport it has.
PS3 just had MGS4, arguably more important to the system than Halo 3 was to the 360. I'm not reading anything into these numbers. Everything was down.
What is good is Civ Rev making cash all over the place. That style of game to break top 10 is huge.
So the NDS was 608. If you guessed 590, your score is 18 (608-590). Same if you guessed 626.
Then I just tally all the differences, lowest score wins. The format is stolen straight from neogaf's monthly contest, I'm not original enough for anything else.
I see. The website would work that out as (18/608)*100 = 2.96% percentage error. Then add up all six errors (one for each console) and divide by six for an average. ArcSyn is next in line on both our systems if you're not bothered about winning again, so that works out okay.
meh.
I played it on a TV that made it lag like crazy for some reason, so I didn't enjoy it much. I guess it's ok though.
I never understood why people thought it was going to shift a huge amount of units.. it was never going to approach any of the real big AAA console sellers in sales (Halo, GOW, etc). One problem: it is for the hardcore. The other problem: it was not very good.
Just wait for RB2. RB1 Wii is gimped (lacks modes, features), but Harmonix is promising to make RB2 "fully featured" for the wii. Also if you wait and get the RB2 set of instruments, you'll be getting the improved ones and the fancy drumset that is capable of attaching optional cymbals. Obviously you'd get the 360 or PS3 version as a priority, but if you have neither of those consoles and do own a Wii, wait for Rb2.

"Was cursing, in broken english at his team, and at our team. made fun of dead family members and mentioned he had sex with a dog."
"Hope he dies tbh but a ban would do."
snake's fortune??
The prices are still absolutely too high. The two bottom SKUs are at or just under the maximum launch price of previous (successful) consoles. This far from launch, that is not acceptable.
Sounds good, November 18th, eh? I can wait for that. Thanks!
That doesnt account for the fact that the PS3 still outsold it and is almost twice as expensive with the pricecut.
I am suggesting that anyone who wants a band game this fall and has a Wii to get GH IV for the Wii.
Pretty much the reason why the 360 sales are so constant in the non-holiday months. For better or worse.
Even though this was a 'clearance' sale, they should have combined it with a major release like they did with their last price drops. Even though it's not technically a 'price drop.'
hopefully they'll officially drop the price by that much this fall, but I doubt they'll do it.
Pretty much. MGS4 was extremely important. I'm sorta surprised not to see it chart at all the month after its release. I guess when hype is pent up that much, for that long, it sort of bursts when the game comes out (to great sales as a result, initially) and then dies almost immediately.
Not really. Sales were pretty normal if you account for the 4-week period (check the comparisons of the sales-per-week rates) . Some are slightly down and some are slightly up. Except the PS3, which boomed last month b/c of MGS4 and is now back to normal
Steam ID: slashx000______Twitter: @bill_at_zeboyd______ Facebook: Zeboyd Games
They didnt drop the ball... they did the best with what they had to work with.
The 20gb was discontinued. It was not a permanent price drop, it was selling redundant stock until it was completely sold out.
Considering stores were told not to buy in 20gbs and were not sent any for weeks before the actual drop you can assume Microsoft made the smart business decision and did not have many left over at the lower price but instead sold them all ahead of time at the higher one.
Also:
Ah my mistake. Forgot it was 4 weeks.
