My parents made me a crazy person. That is to say, a person that can't eat fast food or microwaveable meals without feeling horribly guilty.

It's a good thing to, because I usually love taking the easy way out. The guilt means I cook for myself more often than not.
I'm no exercise buff, but isn't 40 pushups during a raid like, complete bullshit that will do nothing for your body but might make you feel like 'yeh, woooooo I'm being healthy'.

Push-ups are a really great exercise, but doing 40 of them isn't going to drop a night's Jack-in-the-Box. They will build a lot of muscle mass if you do them right.

My only fear is that I might sometimes overdo things.

There was a point a year or two ago where I put raw onion on most things I ate.

Pushups and sit ups will help aerobic exercise but do not take it's place. For fitness you need to do something that gets the heatrate up and makes you sweat and do it for at least 15 minutes a day. Or thirty minutes three times a week.

Please guys if any of you decide to go jogging buy some proper shoes and stay off concrete or bitchumen. I didn't and my knees aren't happy with me now.

A lot like girls I know who will go on about wanting to lose weight, and they make themselves eat some wheat biscuit health snack shit, and then because they've been so 'good' they allow themselves something really fatty and the whole thing is just a pointless way for them to feel like they're making the effort.

Also, I hardcore game and do very little exercise, as has been the case since a young age. I eat lots and reasonably healthily, I'm in great physical shape, at least visually, but I'm pretty terrible at running and other cardio. Honestly, until you get a little older and your metabolism slows down you're only going to get really fat and terrible if you eat total shit and/or have bad genes.

In all honestly, you're probably in a lot worse shape than you imagine if you're "pretty terrible at running and other cardio." It's much better to be a bit tubby and good at cardio than to be skinny and get winded from a couple flights of stairs or a short sprint.

(Also, weren't you doing a Let's Play of Beyond Oasis?)

I've noticed that even with not changing my diet (which admittedly isn't great, but isn't as bad as it used to be) simply taking the bus to work instead of my car has resulted in me losing a noticeable amount of weight (as in, my clothes feel a little looser) since I now have to walk a good 15 minutes to and from the bus stop each day (usually in the heat). I only made that change about 2 weeks ago and have already lost about 5 pounds which pleases me greatly.

I bust out the Wii Fit and do every exercise to completion (In the order of Balance Games -> Aerobics -> Strength -> Yoga) every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

All told takes about two hours, but I'm going for the high score so I have to keep trying.

A friend of mine got scurvy after playing WoW for a week and a half (Hot pockets, cheetos, and Mt. Dew). So I decided maybe a little healthier living wouldn't be a bad thing.

I've been a fat gamer since I was about 8 years old. I pretty much fit the sterotype. I am 30 now, and married, and when im not on my computer at work, I'm on a computer or a console at home.

That being said, I still take care of my home with my own manual labor, so I'm not a complete waste of space.

I hate exercise, fucking outright hate it. Goddamn boring, repeitious shit with no payoff. Fuck running for 12 miles and ending up at the same place I started. I liken exercise to jerking off without the orgasm.

One thing that does get me moving is fixing, building, or creating something. Absolutley love it. I recently got into gardening, at first because I was sick of paying such high costs for produce, but I ended up really liking it. I built these 4x4 foot boxes in my backyard, filled em with soil and compost mixtures, and am now gorwing my own veggies and having a blast doing it. Fucking Rabbits are going to be the death of me though, sons of bitches wont stay the hell out of my beans

I think part of this has to do with the fact that most people just don't know how to jog properly.

I know it sounds stupid, but if you job incorrectly, you burn much more energy than you need to.

Both of them use "bitumen" to describe something that isn't "very thick crude oil" so I'm just covering all of the bases.

But yeah, staying off bitumen would be a good idea anyways, since running on a viscous liquid would probably result in the loss of your shoes or balance, suffocation, and death. Or being killed by mining equipment.

    And to the fitness stuff:

I'm not skinny skinny. When I say I'm pretty terrible at cardio what I mean is, people like say...my brother, who does a lot of physical training, can run a mile and then not feel too bad and recover quickly, where as I would run a mile and then sit down for a minute to let the acid get worked out or whatever.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is: Sitting in front of computer is no less intensive than watching TV, or hanging out in a bar with your friends, or being a movie director. The only thing that will make you more fit than a normal person is if you actively exercise your body

But hey, here's some encouragement: if you can run 7 miles you can run 12, no question. It's really just a matter of planning out your weekly run schedule so you make sure you have a day before and a day after you do a "long run".

At one point I tried to train for a marathon, but my knee decided to give out about 6 weeks into my three-month training schedule. Still, I made it to 10 miles. I couldn't fucking believe it--as an asthmatic since the age of 8 there was a long period of my life where I couldn't even run one mile. I was bummed about not being able to do the marathon (still can't really run much at all) until I took a step back and realized I had run ten miles.

This point reminds me of how wonky the "calories burned" calculator can be if you use the exercise mode in any of the home DDR releases. Once you get the hang of the game you're being far more efficient with your movements than a newer, clumsier player, but the calorie counter remains cheerfully optimistic.

The game would have me believe I had burned 400-600 calories in a half-hour of Heavy songs. No fucking way!

I looooove me some DDR, and playing that on heavy for an hour or two a day actually kept me in good shape, I even test myself by putting on leg weights around 5 lbs each and playing, its really fun cause when you take em off and do a song you were stuck on, (if any) your legs fly around insanely fast and you kick some serious ass, thats how I beat uhhh...I cant even remember the name of the super song in the games, I know it changes but thats how I beat the toughest Heavy song anyways, its quite fun and its nice excercise.

    Work smart, not hard!

Yeah they lie with that thing >.> but the game does actually work pretty well for excercise, Ive lost some good weight playing it, I stopped once for a while and started gaining some weight and started playing again and got back into shape, it does work rather nicely, AND itsa game!!! (if this was a double post, sorry)

I've seen a buckshot go straight around a rabbit in a big circle and the rabbit get away scot free. It was about three meters away.

Small rifle bullets are just more efficient, it doesn't take much to kill a rabbit.

No, you're totally right. Back when I was really hooked on DDR and still mastering the game, I must have sweat fifty gallons working on Holic.
