Any xbox game that is backwards compatable is going to have (BC) next to the name of the game on the little yellow sticker, by the way.
It's still a good idea to do the research before buying. Obviously the sticker can be incorrect or incomplete as to it's playability.
This.
I've been pretty disappointed with the backwards compatibility so far, and even the games that run well all things considered, can still have things like longer loading times to worry about.
I just recently bought Conker, thinking it would run well, but there is a very annoying screen tear lag every few seconds (seems like it doesn't matter where in the game I am, either) that just jars me out of whatever task I'm doing. Every time. It's not noticeable enough to say the game's broken, but it's noticeable enough to be annoying the whole time you play. Oh and cutscenes are always de-synced.
*Jerks off to that statement* Oh man that's hot, if I didn't already have the game I'd buy it again! Dude everybody that doesn't have the game yet, GO BUY IT! It's backwards compatible.
And remember..
Also, love buying "new" gutted DS games and finding a save file on them when I get home. Fuck you EBstop.
What irks me even worse than gutting new games is selling INCOMPLETE games as New. I can't begin to count the number of PS2 or PSP games on the shelf in my local EBStops that are labeled as new, but don't have the cardboard insert.
I can truly relate, a GameStop that I used to go to when I live back in Houston last year attempted something similar. Like others on this thread, I too do most of my video game shopping now over the internet because of the cheaper prices I usually find, but I sometime go out to gaming stores every so often to browse for a bargain.
So back on topic, I go to this GameStop where they have a whole wall dedicated PC games, but one thing that caught my eye right off the bat was the fact they must of had at least ten different copies of Star Wars: Galaxies (not including expansion packs) face out for all eyes to clearly see. So I commented to one of clerks behind the desk reading a Game Informer magazine off one of the shelves that these games won't work, he cocks his head slightly in my direction barely taking his eye the mag. and says in a snobby fashion, "So what?" o_O

Do not trust Microsoft on this one.

That makes sense, but I assumed you were talking about regular Hellgate London, as I didn't even know that game had a Collectors Edition.
Edit: Apart from WoW and TBC :P
You weren't having major sound issues? A terrible frame rate?
Maybe they've since fixed it.
