Due to cramped, thin floored living conditions, I've been away from DDR for about five years now. However, now that I'm moving into a place where I can flail wildly without worrying about the people below me, I want to pick up a pair of pads again. I used to have a nice pair of padded Red Octance pads, but those are long gone now. I prefer soft pads over the rigid, or metal ones, so does anyone have a recommendation for what's good?

The Red Octane Ignition's the best bet for a 'soft' pad. It's the one that has a foam insert and zips up around it.
It definitely stands up to 9s and 10s, unlike the cheap(re: official) ones.
go go www.ddrnation.com and get one of the ignition pads. same exact thing as the red octane ones except they aren't as expensive.
if you want metal, go with Cobalt Flux or the BlueShark. Blueshark is a little more close to the arcade style, but the flux is more durable and will last longer.
