Computer Problem

I woke up this morning to find that my computer (PC with Vista that i built myself about 9months ago) will not boot up. I turn it on, get the startup beep and then it displays the motherboard BIOS screen frozen. I cant select any of the options it presents but i have had issues before with my keyboard not being recognized until windows starts. I have left it on the screen for a little while and it still wont budge.

I have opened it up and everything looks plugged in and in place, theres a little bit of dust but not a huge amount.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be wrong and how i can get it up and running again.

Personally, I'd start by unplugging everything from the computer but your monitor and power cable and see if it boots up. If it does boot after that, plug stuff in 1 by 1 and see what happens.

If it doesn't get past the post screen, I'd remove everything but the RAM and videocard and try again. If its still not getting anywhere....

If you've got 2 sticks or more of RAM try them seperate 1 at a time.

Still nothing? I don't think most mobo's will boot with no ram, but I could be wrong. And if you have onboard video that you don't use you could remove the video card...

Also, has anything been changed lately on the system?

You sir are a genius. I unplugged everything and it booted up fine, plugged everything bar my ipod connector and printer and sit still boots fine.

Thanks a bunch for solving this.

As a side note? Anyone know why this would happen?

Possible bad cable, or problem with the ipod or printer, if I had to guess. Have you tried booting with the printer and ipod seperately?

Edit: Computers are the devil. They'll just do whatever the hell they want, and sometimes you just gotta remind them Who's the Boss.
